In my head, all I could think of was Aran. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t stop thinking about him. I was lost in my thoughts until Monique waved her hand in front of my face. I was quickly brought back into reality. “You good?” she asked me. “Yea I’m okay” I lied. “Lies,” she said. How the hell did she know... ” You can tell us anything Indigo,” Ash said. I knew that but I didn’t exactly know how to say what I was feeling. The thing with me is, I have a whole bunch of feelings I don’t know how to express.

“I don’t know how to” I said. “That’s fine but what were you thinking about,” Ash asked me. I hesitated. “You don’t have to tell us if you’re not comfortable. Just know that we’re here for you” Monique said. I sighed and decided to tell them. “I was thinking about Aran,” I said looking around the room. “YOU LIKE HIM DON’T YOU?” Monique yelled. “Yea....” I said in embarrassment. I felt my face get hot and I started to squirm.

“We knew it” Ash said leaning back into the pillows. I smiled a little and went back to fidgeting with my fingers. I got lost in my thoughts again. I hopped on Ash’s bed and I leaned back on the wall. Monique was on the floor, scrolling through her phone. Ash was doing the same thing. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and opened Instagram. I was scrolling for a few minutes until Monique called my name. “Hey, Indigo”. “Yea?” I replied.

“Could you send me an r & b playlist?” she said. “Yeah sure”. I opened Spotify and sent her a playlist that I’d made a few months ago. Making playlists is quite an obsession. “Okay, I sent it” I smiled. “Mwah thank you,” she said, blowing me a kiss. “You’re welcome,” I said.

We were just relaxing and vibing in Ash’s room when I got an idea. “We should bake a cake because why the hell not,” I said while turning to face them. “Ouuu yes we should,” Indigo said. “I think we have all the stuff we need so why not?” Ash said while getting up. We all got up and walked into the kitchen. “Here I’ll get the stuff out and you guys can choose a recipe,” Ash said while opening a cabinet and taking out a bag of flour. “Wait I have one” Indigo said while pulling out their phone. They gave me their phone and I gently took it and skimmed through the recipe. “Ouuu this a quick recipe. Let’s do this one,” I said.

By the time we finished reading over the recipe, Ash had gotten everything out. We all washed our hands and started making the cake. Ash and I were making the batter and Indigo was making the frosting. “Okay, so it says to combine 2 ½ cups of flour, 3 eggs, and 3 tbs. of oil in a bowl” Ash read the recipe to me.

I took the measuring cups and I looked for the one that was labeled ’2 cups’ and I poured it into the clear glass bowl. Then I took the measuring cup and scooped flour until it was half-filled and poured it into the bowl. Then I opened the egg carton and I cracked 2 eggs and put them in. “I can do the last one, you read the last steps,” Ash said. “Okay, I’ll melt the butter then”. I took a small bowl and I placed the half stick of butter in it and placed it inside the microwave.

I set it for 1 minute then I walked over to Indigo to see what they were doing. “Hey, Indigo,” I said while sitting on the counter. “Hey,” they said to me while pouring powdered sugar into a stand mixer. “I see you’re a pro” I smirked. “Yea I bake a lot in my free time”. I sat there and watched as they poured a little vanilla extract into the mix and turned the mixer on. I sat next to Indigo for a few more seconds until I heard the microwave beep.

I hopped off the counter and took the small bowl out. Then I speed-walked back to Ash and placed the bowl on the counter. I shook my hands in the air a little then I scraped the butter out of the bowl and put it in the bowl. Then I took the hand mixer and I put it on the lowest setting so it wouldn’t splash everywhere.

We were done mixing the batter and I put the cake into a greased pan. I placed the pan in the oven then I washed my hands. My clothes were covered in flour and so were Ash’s. I looked at them and then we both burst into laughter. Indigo looked our way and soon they also started laughing. I got up and there was still some flour on the counter. I smirked when I got an idea. I took some of the flour in my hand and blew it in Ash’s face.

They started coughing and choking and me and Indigo started cackling because giggling is illegal. “But you did this... for what,” they said glaring at me. “Reasons,” I said smiling. “Sorry,” I said wiping the flour off their face. “It’s not okay but it’s okay,” they said. “We all sat on different sides of the counter and were just talking while we waited for the cake. “You guys wanna try the frosting? I’m done” Indigo asked. “YESSIR,” I said jumping off the counter. “Ooo sure” Ash said.

We all took a small spoon and scooped a tiny bit of the frosting. My eyes rolled to the back of my head after I tried it. “AYYY YOU SNAPPED,” I said. “Dude this is so good,” Ash said. “Thank you” Indigo smiled. I smirked when an idea came to my head. I took some frosting and I plastered some on Ash’s face. Ash slowly turned lifted their head up and slowly turned their head to look at me. “That’s when she knew, she fucked up,” Indigo said. “Oh, shit,” I said.

“Why,” Ash said, staring bullets into my head. I fell to the ground and started laughing so hard, I started tearing up. I got up and walked over to Ash. I then licked the frosting off their cheek. Indigo didn’t see because they were cleaning the frosting off the counter. Ash’s eyes widened and they blushed a deep red. I smirked then I walked over to help Indigo clean up. “Why are you so red, Ash?” Indigo said raising an eyebrow. “No reason,” Ash said.

I smirked at Ash then I heard the oven beep. Indigo grabbed the oven mitts and carefully took the cake out of the oven. They placed it on the counter and took off their oven mitts. “Well now we gotta wait for it to cool down,” Indigo said. “I’m gonna go change my shirt,” I said while dusting the flour off my shirt. I walked back to Ash’s room and opened my bag. I reached inside and pulled a hoodie out. I slipped my black t-shirt off and was left with my sweatpants and an olive green bra.
