That Bright Light

In every moment I spend in the dark,

I feel the confined illusion fade into a cradle of comfort.

The cradle has held me for days, weeks, years.

So when light begins to force my comfort from me I reach back,

Trying to hold onto something as ethereal such as the dark.

It scares me, and hurts me.

That bright light.

Just as the dark had once confined me,

This new light consumes me.

The vibrancy of this light flows into every cell,

Till I feel it will control me.

But just as the dark had begun to cradle me,

This light begins to fill me with opportunities.

The veil that had separated me from the world has been lifted.

I now see the things I have been missing,

A new phase of life is about to begin.
