A "Found Poem"

Why bake?

Get your hands dirty

Enjoy the end result


I believe in sifting

A large balloon whisk is a staple

It’s a good idea to get to know your oven


Make sure to use the freshest butter possible

The best eggs, of course, would be from your own chicken

Start with the good stuff


You can freeze dough

Eggshells are magnetized

Until it’s done


Eat while they’re still warm!

Serve warm.

Serve warm with the honey butter or jam.


Crystallized ginger and fresh pitted cherries

What makes your bakery unique?

Re-create a Pop-Tart flavor you loved as a kid


Cream Cheese Frosting

Pinch of Kosher Salt

Raspberry Jam


1 large egg

1 tsp whole milk

1 tbsp granulated sugar


Makes two 9-inch pies

Makes about 4 dozen mini scones

Makes one 9-inch quiche


Cheesy Herb Popovers

Zucchini, Basil, and Fontina Quichelets

Bacon-And-Egg Breakfast Tarts


I really like gingerbread

You can cut the brandy in half if you want

Warning: This bread is highly addictive


What’s For Dinner Tonight?

Scrape about half of the batter into the prepared pan

Serve warm with lots of butter


Let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Serve warm.

Cut into squares and serve while warm.

Whoopie Pies With Salted Dulce De Leche

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies


Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, hands down.

My dad loves chocolate chip cookies.

Melt the butter and chocolate over low heat


The smells!

You can see the jam bubbling

Inside you’ll find a surprise lemon filling

Makes one 9-inch triple-layer cake

I was born the year the first Easy Bake oven came out

Fudge Frosting

Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)


Someone brought a cake very similar to this to my birthday party

When life gives you a bounty of juicy summer fruit

I love the drama of an upside-down cake


Make a double batch of toffee sauce

Make peach ice cream

Make the glaze


So far, I’ve licked two bowls today

3/4 cup sugar

Makes one 16-by-12-inch tart


Blueberry-Almond Crisp

The Midnight Galette

Impress your guests

In a large bowl, toss the apricots with sugar

Pass me another slice, please!


Position a rack in the middle of the oven

I’d be personally devastated without chocolate

Bake the crust until lightly golden brown


Garnish with chocolate shavings, if you like.

Then bake as directed.

Let cool.


For the caramelized blood oranges

Serve with dollops of whipped cream

You can’t rush yeasted dough or toddlers.


Remove the vanilla pod.

Bake the pudding for 30 minutes.

The mixture will still be a little soupy
