Waking Dreams

Dark horns are what I see

So dark I can only imagine its features

But I know that gaping mouth

That heavy stride

This demon of the night

Owns everything in this space

Confident I won't run

It leans on top of me

Possessing me, suffocating me

I'm chained up in these sheets

Eyes open, mouth unbound

But still I cannot speak

Paralyzed from the bottom up

A waking nightmare

I am a prisoner waiting for an executioner

With claws and teeth bearing my name

I'll tell you all my secrets

Before we play the dying game

Hot breath invading, it comes closer

I can smell the wrongness within

And I just know this is the end

No heroes come crashing in

I'm left helpless where I should be safe

But the sun begins to rise and something changes

The demon leans back on its haunches

Fear prickling its eyes

Light chases it back like it's prey

My fingers twitch and I'm released

I sigh as I finally take a full breath

The shadow creature has reached the wall

Plastered against it like glue

I watch as it silently creeps back out

Shutting the door quietly

And politely dismisses itself from my dreams

maewilde25: I liked this, though it dragged on for over 200pages and heaven knows I did not expect the plot twist in the middle. David being Cristiãn. I was wondering when he would show up and didn't know he was there all along. it looks like there should be a sequel, please let there be a sequel. I know the...

Natasha Jade Smail: a good read and keeps you interested throughout the whole story and has some gruesome moments that were well described to get you into the story.

C.K. Bachman: Just read the first chapter. Love how the main character thinks and is conflicted over his wife and the trickery he uses on her.

Kiz16: After a truly shocking start to the story, I found the style and content slowed down as the author introduced a varied group of characters who I thought were fleshed out very well. After a slow couple of chapters, I found this story difficult to leave with the tension growing within the house. Yo...

Dina Husseini: I loved this story. It was so great that I did not expect it to be this awesome. I swear to you this deserves more than just 5 stars. Beyond amazing. Kept me wanting more and I felt exactly like Emma felt while reading. Although in the beginning I did not expect anything to happen. Then, when som...

elssxa: I love everything about this story. I want more...more...more. This author is superb. I am fascinated by his amazing work. I give him five stars.

harry142018: This story was gripping and very professionally written. With lots of twists and slight of hand tricks, the author deceives the reader until finally showing their cards at the end. With several subplots all intertwining to create the main plot, this really is an interesting and engaging read.

kotabsavage91: This young author really knows her stuff. From the 1st chapter I was sucked in and entertained the book. The characters are rich and well thought out and the plot keeps you guessing all the way through to an imaginatively well exacuted showdown. Keep up the great work, I look forward to more of ...

Pam Lobato Ceja: The plot is interesting although for me the ending feels a bit rushed, since a lot happens in very few pages. I did notice a few grammar mistakes here & there, but nothing too noticeable.Overall, I enjoyed this greatly.

Kashaf Azmat: The concept is excellent everything is well defined that you can picture the whole scenario which makes you feel connected to the plot and this is the thing that catches my eye and this what i am looking for in every novel.Keep it up

Bradley Darewood: I really really really liked this. I just voted for you!The voice is flawless-- I can't write men as well as you do and I have a penis. Maybe I'm narcissistic but I particularly enjoyed the moment where he muses about how artists would do better in such a solitary job. But my favorite moment ...

M. Drewery: I was scrolling down the story list and stopped on Happy Days because I was briefly reminded of the TV show. I started reading the blurb and thought 'oh no another Zombie story' except it ended in the best possible way. Now I'm drawn into a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse, which takes a much ...
