Chapter 1

What would you see
If you were a tree
5000 years old
And so much left untold

Stories of countless empires rising
And falling
Of the sound of the earth
Breathing and changing as
If it were a living organism
Of the difference between 4840 years
And the last one hundred sixty
And the evolution of the human race
As a whole

If you were to ask me what
I have seen in the last 5000 years
I would tell you this and more
Much more

If you were a tree
Would you give your
Answers in the breeze?
Or would you politely tell them
To fuck off?

Karl12: This story is written in a fun, amusing way, which caught my attention from the very beginning. This, so to speak, “free” style of writing is something I really enjoyed. Jasmine Chow: As I read this story, I was reminded some what of Terry Pratchett, especially some descriptions of politics and economics. The sci-fic setting is quite intriguing. Writing style is quite lovely and grew on me slowly. I was also slightly reminded of Mark Twain, especially his book A Connecticut Ya...
