Please Don't

Speaking out to all my fans
The friends within, each one of you
Will you trust this, try to understand?
Feelings you can't deny, are just as familiar to me
So would you let me help to spare you from
Heartache and the pain?

Please don't, write that letter
Don't seal it with a lick
Please don't, trust the words
Of just anybody who's around
Please don't, waver when
It comes to seeking help

Because it's OK to save yourself
Ignoring everyone else for just a bit
Its ok to retreat and heal within
So you can get right again
Sometimes you have to decide
That all for yourself

I was the one who wrote those letters
Who sealed both me and it with a lick
I trusted words from everyone
Never doubting their intentions
And I always wavered reaching out
For help when it was almost too late

Because it never seemed OK for me
To save 'me' when others would be hurt
Burning the hurt instead of healing it
Not sure if I'll ever be quite right again
That's why I'm speaking to you now
My fans, my friends, please don't burn out

Sorry that it hurt you, Taken by surprise
Please don't write and seal that letter
Sorry that I left you, All behind last night
Please don't trust just anybody's words
Sorry that you cried, But I won't apologize
Please don't stop yourself from seeking it out

Because it's OK to save myself
Sometimes I have to write just for me
Ignoring everyone else, so I can re-begin
I refuse to waver this time around
Realized it's ok to retreat and breathe again
Because it's ok to reach out and grasp for help

Please don't forget to turn the tables
Use that confining mask for all it's worth
Please don't recklessly post and rant to the public
Forgetting that its the age of technology
Please don't forget to protect what you have
Don't start with all your cards out on the table

Don't hesitate, don't procrastinate
Just please promise to weigh its' weight
There are some secrets that will surely condemn
Once exposed will be worse than the ones within
First decide if you're willing to risk what's at stake
Make sure to commit, and don't charge in half baked

I was the one, to run, to jump the gun
Who went and had to pay a high price
It was a difficult time, such a difficult time
Nothing can ever really be replaced or erased
Chained forever to that one digital footprint
A brand, again, another obstacle appearing in place

They labeled you, so use it, all of their mishandling, use it
All the struggles and broken tools, aren't past their prime
Make something out of the nothing, make something new
They were wrong, you are strong, always were all along
Over this tough stuff, picking at you weak spots but
Even though it doesn't feel like it, you can still make it

Sorry that it hurt you, Taken by surprise
Please don't only 'hold out a little longer'
Sorry that I left you, All behind last night
Please don't allow yourself to just settle
Sorry that you cried, But we shouldn't apologize
Please don't doubt you can be a little stronger

Because it's OK to save ourselves
Sometimes I have to talk just for me
Ignoring everyone else, to feel complete
Realized it's ok to retreat and breathe again
Re-evaluate the weight of what's at stake
Because it's ok to sit down and just wait it out

I was the one who wrote those letters
Who sealed both me and it with a lick
I was the one, to run, to jump the gun
Who went and had to pay a high price
I was the one who trusted their words
Who never doubted any of their intentions

I always wavered, every single freaking time
Even though it was fantastical to just survive
I let my labels restrict me, so constricting
Bleeding before letting my hands lead me
Creating things anew, because it isn't just me anymore
I'm leading others down my path, thinking of them the least I can do

Which is why I'm speaking out to all my fans
My dearest friends, whom I treasure dearly
Will you trust this, now that you understand?
Will you let me help to spare you from
Heartache and the pain I've known?
Please don't join me in this broken uncertainty...
