Regret

No more words to be spoken

The fights already done

No more tears to be shed

The pain has just begun

Why was it us?

We were stronger then this

Why did it have to be us?

It’ll be you that I miss

Things won’t ever be the same

We’re just common friends now

I’m the one to blame

Hoping beyond hope we haven’t taken our final bow

I meant something once

But now that’s through

I feel like such a dunce

But that’s nothing new

Tomorrow will shine on a new day

Filled with the sudden change

I’ll be lucky if I make it to "ok"

As life flips another page

She meant something once

As she still does to me

I hope she can forgive me just this once

For forgiveness is key

She was never normal

She’s amazing and fun

She was more than formal

She’s cooler than anyone

I wonder what she’s thinking now

I hope this is something we can mend

I hope to fix this somehow

For she used to be my best friend

Laraine Smith: I was also a victim of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse by my father. One time, he threatened to beat me with a belt. This story enabled me to talk about it. Thank you. :)

ItsAnnier: Great original idea! Long poems don't often hold me, but yours did to the end and made me want more of the story. Was it a Crime of passion with the murderer returning to the crime scene? I hope further poems will tell me more!
