Untitled chapter

Dedicated to my brother who lit the fire under my ass to finish this.

Tell me of a dawn,

A gentle one by the sea,

Heads tilted back like sails,

Side-stepping clicking crabs,

Losing ground to ankle deep water.

Tell me of a dawn,

A tranquil one in the mountains,

Sipping cloud frothed tea,

Huffing up tar and rock in Converse,

Humbled by the shaded nakedness.

Tell me of a dawn,

A deafening one in the city,

Puttering by worn steel,

Honking and coughing bustling jackets,

Connecting over phone dings.

Tell me of a dawn,

An anticipated one of home,

The cackling and earnest snoozes,

Floating deep in cotton and down,

Sniffing comfort in cinnamon.

Tell me of a dawn,

Abandoned at the beep,

Frail and clasping at goodbyes,

Checkered coffee and papers,

Crusted eyes in wide smiles.

Tell me of a dawn,

After the burial of wood,

When the windows are too big,

Islands of sunlit photos,

Hinges mute as the pen clicks.

Tell me of a dawn,

When yellow will be more than mustard,

Pink will pop in fevers,

Silver will sparkle off grey,

Banana fed hair will burn.

Tell me of a dawn,

Climbing to a sleepy noon,

Slumped over a wonton soup-ed evening,

Nestled into cologned letters,

Battered sighs will ease into breathing.
