So many leagues stand
Between us, between you

And me after silent years
Still I am haunted by you
By a night never ending

I remember how those
Bluebells swayed, blue
Bells in your hair, dreamy
Blue eyes shined, sea blue
Strange how I never liked
Blue eyes before yours

Obsession I named you
Burning bright as a flame
Fantasy, fable, and legend
My Helen, my Aphrodite
I cried out your name, you
Sipped sweet orange tea

Like a winter unending
I was paralyzed by you

But night cannot last forever
Your face, those blue eyes
Bitter drinks and bare flesh
Warm lips, moonlit breasts
Inviting hands, swaying hips

All must fade, when I wake
From the prison of a dream
