His fingers felt like fire on her skin

Branding her

Searing through her soul

She wanted to scream

And to flee into the void

Yet this was her prison

Her punishment

For sins she’d already bled for

And when he claimed

Possession of her once again

She died just a little bit more

Hidden As she hid in the darkness she knew

Her temporary escape

From the scourging of the flames

Still it was not enough

And it would never be enough

For soon

There would be nothing more of her

For the brutal fire to consume

And all that would remain

Would be a shadow of her

And the vague memory of a girl

That the fire had buried

In the ashes of her soul
