Closer Cousins

It's hard to believe that we're not directly related, because you're like a sister to me.

And by the way we act together; I think it was meant to be.

To everyone else we're just cousins, but to us it's so much more.

Love, family ties, and an undeniable friendship that can't be ignored.

A shoulder to cry on, a bear hug, and a deep talk or two.

No one else can put a smile on my face and make me laugh the way you do.

I try to remember all of the good memories we've had, but there's way too many to recall.

All I know for sure is that I loved each and every one of them all.

Our many shopping trips, the countless Black Fridays, waking up at ridiculous hours.

But seeing zebra print and camouflage colours always seemed to light up your face, even if we did wake up a little sour.

When we went on the Ferris wheel and ate fudge in Scheels and we felt like little kids.

I'm pretty sure we had way more fun than any of them did.

Friends may not last a lifetime, but family is forever.

I couldn't think of anyone else that I'd rather live it with better.

And even though you're going away for awhile, I'll still love you just as much when you get back.

Because love in a close relationship like ours is something that never lacks.

I wish you the best on your journey ahead, even though I'm going to miss you.

But don't worry about me 'cause I'll be right here waiting to hear how your hopes and dreams came true.

We've made so many memories together, and I hope you take them with you when you go.

Just realize that there are many more to make when you get back, 'cause no matter how much you may mature along the way,

I am never going to be something you can outgrow.
