Chapter 1

The sky is broken

My eyes unopened

Something travels underneath

A story caught between my teeth

And in the Shadows I catch more

Of something daylight can't restore

Lucidity peaks; a phase change

Never had I dreamt a dream so strange.

Moon-faced and dripping

Skull-based, skin slipping

A child of crows and underland

Taken by her cool, grey hand

Led to night to mend unseen

From snow and bone to Bloodred Queen

Her spirit ran across the water

Until the sleep she fought had caught her.

ga1984: I really enjoyed it! Characters were deep and plot was pretty complex. A bit on the violent side but it doesnt detract from the story. Very dark but situations make sense. Ends kinda abruptly and later chapters will need some editing work. I'm assuming there's more in the works?

Felisa Yoder Osburn: I really enjoyed the story. Civil War stories are some of my favorites and the intertwining of the past with current times was wonderful. I look forward to reading the next stories.

Hudson: Your story was fantastic Erin! The Rising Sun was one of the first stories I read on Inkitt, and I have to say I don't regret the three to four days I spent pouring through the story.Probably the biggest strength I see in your writing is your characterisation of Eliana, Oriens, and the rest of th...

Deleted User: I liked it very much. I liked how it began with the two sisters bonding like that. I especially liked how it ended. Although, i wish it had more of a plot twist, but then again, that's just me. This was my first book i read on this app, and i really like it. I'll probably read more books because ...

JWalker: I loved this story from start to finish! It flows at a really nice pace and the story world feels so real. The fight sequences are a treat especially when Isanfyre is training to become a warrior. I found the names really cool and thankfully easy to pronounce. Personally I have always struggled w...

Kasei Bulloch: At the beginning I wasn't very into the story but I kept reading and was more hooked than I was with Battle of the Wills. All of a sudden I had devoured chapter after chapter then the book was over. I am dying for The Compact. Please help a girl out!

Sara Grover: Being that this is your first story and I assume first draft, a lot of little mistakes are common, we all have made them; little things like your instead of you're, missed capitalization, missing punctuation, etc. As for the plot, I have a lot of questions and I did leave comments on certain sect...

Diyfamilygarden: This is one of the best books I've ever read! The characters, the unique love and everything else in this book is so well written that it feels like you're there! Like you can see it with your own eyes! J.K.Rowling can watch out, this fantasy book is just as good as the Harry Potter books, maybe ...

Raine Winters: This novel was absolutely beautiful. The fact that it doesn't follow your average hero and damsel cliché is something to be appreciated. The relationship between Desmond and Tristan is awe inspiring, and shows the lengths one will go to protect their loved one. I highly recommend reading this nove...

Alexis Dredd Zarcal: Overall, it's a rather thrilling piece, merging superstition, psychology, slice of life, and the usual Japanese risque fare. All the elements have rhyme and reason in being placed together. The respective background stories of the characters involved so far also give a sense of flair and thrill.I'...
