Fate

My story takes as back to the morning of the last day of school eight years ago (1996), with Christmas just around the corner I could not ask for a better climate, as I look out of my bedroom window could see it was beautiful summer day with blue skies. Christmas as always been hot here in the land of down under which was fine with me as this past winter has been colder then any other. Last day of school before the end of year vacation. As every other summer, this summer holidays was the same as all the other, I was looking forward to our annual get away with our close family friends Mr. and Ms. Fernando and their four children.

I walk into the kitchen and I start my morning with ice-tea and half boil egg. Been a sporting day at school I am in my sports outfit. My midnight blue slim-fit shorts and top and my Dianna Ferrari runners. I had a small bag with sun cream and my football team Collingwood Magpie jacket. I run out of the house know the sooner my day commence the sooner my holidays can start. why is that when you are looking forward to something time seem to go by so slowly?

As I walk to the bus stop I turn my mind towards the three Fernando boys, how three brothers could be so unlike one other. The oldest Nigel was a reserved but gregarious and good company once you get to know him. He can be witty and hold a good conversation when it suits him, on the other hand, he can be an annoying critic. The youngest, umm one can say he is the black sheep of the family. Jackson as always been irritating, annoying, harassing, trouble argumentative, with big-headed with an ego to suit. Then there is my best friend and middle son Alec, his personality is one that everyone would go for themselves. He is every bit of a smart aleck, humorous, friendly, affectionate, sensitive to other feelings, compassionate, unselfish and joker.

I have greeted a smiling Nat; I could not understand how one can be so joyful in the morning. I have always been a night owl, but managed a small smile as I nodded my head at her. “so look like forward for holidays?” she asked me, known every well that my family and the other family go on vacation together every year. I give her my ‘you known’ look and it only makes her smile wider. I know she tries to just push my buttons, I could not let her ruined it for me today. I sigh turn up my walk men and try to turn down Nat’s voice, she was one of this people who was a friend to your face and then she would stab you in the back the minute your back was to her. I remember how surprised I was that she had friends at the end of that first year of school. I was thankful when her boyfriend Nick turn up and she throws herself at him like a common sult. Call me old-fashioned if you like but I am not one for public display. I don’t mind holding hands or kiss on the cheek. But make out out in the open like that was not me and so I shake my head at them.
