The Past

.

I walk alone through the empty streets,
One foot in front of the other
Aimlessly stepping ahead
Hoping for something better.

My insides ache, my mind is cloudy,
And with every step
Instead of moving forward
I am pulled backwards.

I walk alone through the empty streets
Down memory lane.
All the good times, the bad
And the insignificant moments
Jump at me from darkened corners
Their deathly grip around my throat
Leaving me permanent damage.

I stop. I breathe. I shake it off.
I take a couple seconds.
The ghosts of past fade oh-so-ever
And once again
I step ahead
Hoping for something better.

jenneyescoto: I'm only six chapters in, yet I'm already hooked. It didn't start too slow nor too fast. It has just enough background information to keep the plot going in a decent pace. There are just some minor grammar mistakes and phrasing that could be easily corrected. Other than that, I'm really enjoying ...

graceeming: I thought the whole story form the beginning was captivating, it really gave you the hunger that you were longing for in a story. Yes the end was not something that I enjoyed, but I recommend this to anyone that enjoys fantasy of this type.
