Chapter 1: Gunners Mate
Roxie told me to get to her brother Gunner. He will protect me. He won’t let them hurt me. I am so close. So very close. But I didn’t make it.
As we walked out the door, we smelled blood. Across the street in the field. We ran over to find it. It is a girl. You could not tell what she looked like as she was laying on her stomach. “Rebel stays with her; I will get a blanket and be right back.
I linked Claw and told him what we found and to bring a van and the doctor. I was back and lay the blanket over the woman. I saw blood all around her. I also saw that she fought back. Her nails were broken, and she had hair wrapped around her fingers.
I looked up to see the doctor moving the blanket. “Doctor, she is human.”
“I know.”
“Eagle take her to the van, Rebel when you get to the club come and help me clean her.”
Once Eagle stopped the bike I jumped off and headed towards the clubhouse. “Gunner was standing there growling. “Don’t touch her Eagle.”
Eagle stepped back. “She is my mate. What happened to her?”
“I won’t know until I examine her Gunner. The doctor told him.”
“Carry her to the exam room.”
“We watched as he gently lifted her in his arms.”
Gunner gently lay her on the exam table and walked out of the room. I had gotten hot water and soap and started to wash the back of her as we had him lay her on her stomach. Once her backside was cleaned, I gasped.
Someone beat this girl. She had welts all over her from her shoulders to her feet. The doctor rubbed salve all over her. Then we rolled her onto her back. I washed the blood, and dirt off her.
She was so badly beaten they broke her jaw, arm, and leg. As well as cut her with a knife.” After I washed her the doctor set her arm and leg. Then she stitched the cuts that needed it. We put Gunner’s shirt on her, then the doctor gave her two shots. One to stop any pregnancy and an antibiotic. She had been raped and sodomized. We covered her before leaving the room.
When we walked over to the table to tell Claw what we found, Gunner was standing there. He was angry. I will kill them all. I have their scents. “Gunner, they raped and sodomized her.”
“They left her for dead.”
“I will find them.”
“She is my mate. They will pay for what they have done. Can I go and set with her doctor?”
“Yes, Gunner. Go set with her. The bond needs to grow.”
I sat down and looked at Eagle. “Rebel. Do not fear Gunner. He will be like I was when you left.”
“He will need his vengeance for what happened to his mate.”
“It is how we are.”
“How I was when you left me.”
“She is as short as I am, Eagle. I don’t know how many men did that to her. But they hurt her, they thought it was fun to hurt someone that small.”
“Rebel, you know as well as I do that if they are not stopped, they will continue to hurt women. If they are still around here, you could be next.”
“I smelled at least 12 men, Eagle. They all need to die. All of them.”
“I understand Gunners’ need for vengeance. She belongs to him, and they raped her, they beat her, and they cut her.”
“They threw her away like she was trash like she didn’t matter.”
“Listen, Rebel. I love you. I will never let the men live that would do something like that to you.”
“I know Eagle. I am all right with that.”
“I want to kill them myself.”
“Come here, Angel.”
“I sat down on his lap and lay my head against his chest.”
We looked up as the doctor walked out of the room. And sat down. “Those men don’t deserve to live, Eagle.”
“We all decided that doctor.”
In the room where the girl lay, Gunner sat talking to her in a soft voice. I looked down at her. My mate. I didn’t care that she was human. She belongs to me. And the men that did this to her will pay.
I was holding her hand in mine. Telling her she was safe. I heard a soft voice talking to me. Calling for me to wake up. He was telling me I was safe, and that he would never let anyone hurt me again.
He smelled good. I want to see him. As I looked down at her I knew without all those bruises she was beautiful. Her hair was blonde and fell to her waist. She was about 5 feet tall. She had such a tiny waist. I want to see her eyes. I turned my head and looked out the window next to the bed.
My thoughts were on how she would understand what a mate is. Would she deny me? I heard her mumble. I listened closely to her. How did she know my name? “I have to run; I have to get to Gunner. Roxie said to find her brother. That he will protect me, he will not let them hurt me anymore.
“I don’t have far, she said it was a mile past a blue house. Yes, keep driving don’t stop.”
“No, not now. Don’t stop running now. Car please we are almost there.”
“No, they found me. I jumped out of the car and ran. No, let me go. Please don’t do this.”
“No, get off me. Stop hitting me. So much pain. I tried to crawl from them after they finished with me, but it hurt too bad. I heard the president tell someone to finish me off then I felt nothing.”
“She knew my sister. I need to call Roxie and find out what she knows and what my mate’s name is.”
I walked out of the room and sat down looking at Claw. “What is it, Gunner?”
“Roxie was sending her here to me to protect. She was mumbling she told everything in her sleep.”
I dialed Roxie and put it on speakerphone. “Gunner, please tell me that you have Sunshine?”
“We have her, but she didn’t make it here to the club. Rebel and Eagle found her in the field across the road from their house today.”
“We didn’t know who she was, or she was coming to me. Until I heard her mumble in her sleep.”
“Dear god. They caught her, didn’t they? They beat and raped her too I bet.”
“Yes, Roxie they did. She is in bad condition. Roxie, she is my mate.”
“Who did this to her?”
“The president of the Red Dragon. He wanted her and she told him no. That pissed him off.”
“He was determined to have Sunshine, Gunner. He told her he would have her and when he finished with her he was going to give her to his members.”
“Protect her Gunner. She is my friend. She knows about us but she didn’t care. Keep her safe from them. If they find out she is alive he will come for her.”
“Let him come. I will kill him. I am going to kill all of them.”
“I will be there after I take my final exam tomorrow.”
“Can’t wait to see you, Roxie. See you when you get here.”
“I now know who did this and who to kill.”
“So, your mate is human, knows about us, and doesn’t care we are wolves.”
“That is a good thing for you Gunner.”
“I am going to go back and set with her.”
I walked back to the doctor’s office. I walked in and sat down. I talked to her again. I told her my name is Gunner and she was safe now. I told her what a beautiful name she had. I even told her that Roxie was coming in two days.
I know that being human she was hurt really badly. I talked to the doctor, and she told me that her body has to heal. She could wake up today, tomorrow, or even in a month. Or she may never wake up.
I looked over at the doctor. "Doctor Shawn, can I take her to my bedroom? I would feel better knowing she is with me and I can help her if she wakes up."
"I think that would be for the best Gunner. She may be human however, the mate bond still needs to grow. I also know your wolf will not want to be away from her right now."
I lifted Sunshine in my arms and carried her to my bedroom. I lay her on the bed and I covered her up. I looked down at her and my wolf growled.
"Human, we must find them. We must rip them to pieces for what they have done to our mate. They will do this again. We cannot permit that to happen."
I agree with you. But we wait. I have a feeling they will come back to see if she is still there when they hear about a female body being found.
We will have Eagle and Rebel watch for this to happen. Then they can tell them she was found alive by us. They will come to us and we will kill them.
Our mate. She is beautiful, isn't she? She is strong in her own way to have lived thru what they put her thru. I think that we will bid our time.
We must mark her soon. We want to make sure she stays safe. We put our strongest guards around her when we are not with her.
I agree. I felt my wolf lay down in my mind. I took my cut off folded it and lay on the back of a chair. I removed everything from my pockets and put it all on my dresser.
I sat down removed my boots and socks grabbed my shorts and walked into the bathroom and took my shower before climbing into bed next to Sunshine.
I had the members looking for her car. I told them when they found it to put it in the garage and bring her things and place them against the wall next to my door but not to wake me up.
I worried about, Roxie. I didn't want them coming after her. I had a friend and his members watching her until she comes home.
I had my VP, Eagle investigating this biker and his club. They were not liked and had a reputation for forcing women to remain in their clubhouse.
According to Roxie, this president thinks he can take any woman he fancies. He fancied Sunshine. She didn't fancy him. He wanted to force Sunshine into accepting his claim.
When she turned him down he didn't like it. No woman turns him down and gets away with it. I woke up to someone pocking me.
I turned my head and she looked at me in fear. "I have to go to the bathroom. I climbed out of the bed and walked around lifting her in my arms.
I helped her to the bathroom and then carried her back to the bed. "Where am I?" She asked me looking at me in fear. Red Moon Mc. I told her.
"My name is Gunner. I am the president. Roxie is my sister."
"How did you find me?"
"My VP and his wife live across the street from the field you were in. Rebel his wife saw you laying almost next to the woods."
"We came and got you. Our Doctor, Shawn took care of you. You were talking while under heavy pain medication. You mentioned my sister's name."
"I called her and she told me who you are."
"That being said, take this pain pill. It will help you sleep."
"Gunner, I know that you are an Alpha. You don't have to hide you and your members are wolves."
"Thank you, we won't hurt you."
I then sniffed. Something is different about her. I sniffed again. "Sunshine we need to talk once you are feeling better about what happened to you."
"And remember. You are safe here. I won't let anyone harm you again. And I am going to kill every one of those bastards."
I looked at Gunner and widened my eyes. "Gunner, I mean something to you don't I?"
"Yes, you are my mate."
"I am human. How is that possible?"
"I don't think you are a full human, Sunshine. You are not a wolf. You are something else."
"Can we talk later? I am so sleepy."
"We have all the time in the world to talk. You rest and heal."
