Dream to Reality
I looked out from backstage.
As expected, it was crowded at the Hillsong Club tonight.
Teenagers filled the seats for our gig tonight. All day, Dylan and I have been preparing for tonight’s show, setting the stage and doing sound check.
As excited as I was about the show, I still had her in my head all day. I would say it’s annoying, but that’s not true at all. I could think about her all day without a complaint.
It’s just frustrating trying to understand girls these days! Why did she have to leave me last night with riddles?
“Cole, you alright? You look frustrated.” Dylan said with a concerned look on his face. I forced a smile on my face, hiding my insanity.
“I’m being impatient. I just want to start the show.” I wasn’t exactly lying. I am being impatient but not about the show.
“Relax. It will all turn out great. Just clear your head.” He said before going back to fixing the strings on his guitar. I thought about what he said and nodded my head in agreement.
Dylan’s right. Tonight, I’m not going to worry about her and have a good time tonight. I can see her when the show is over. I stiffened as I felt hands trail down my back.
“Hope the show goes well tonight.” A purr is whispered next to my ear. I felt disgusted and I couldn’t help but compare the touches I felt between my dream girl and her.
I internally groaned. Of course, she was going to be here. Why did she have to be here tonight? Defeated, I turned around to face my ex-girlfriend, Victoria.
To be honest, I have no clue why I dated her in the first place. Maybe it was because she has her looks or that every guy was after her and I felt proud that she picked me. Besides that, she’s really got nothing to show for personality wise.
She scares off every girl that tries to go near me. At first, I didn’t really care and was flattered- until my birthday came five weeks ago, the same day the dreams started. She yelled at my sister for hugging me when she thought I was inside. Once I saw the tears in my little sister’s eyes, I immediately broke up with her.
No one messes with my family. Who decides to verbally abuse someone? She claims she only wants to be with me, but I already know she hooks up with other guys. I can see right through her lies.
“What do you want, Victoria? Can’t you see I’m busy?” I told her annoyed as I pushed her hand away from me.
“But Cole,” she pouted. “I wanted to spend some time with you before the show started”, she said seductively, pressing her chest against mine. She was wearing a short red dress that barely covered her with high heels to match. Disgusted, I push her away and walk away. I don’t need to deal with that today.
“Okay baby! I’ll see you in a little bit!” she shouted.
Can’t she just get the hint I don’t want to be in a mile proximity of her? I groaned. She’s got a really thick skull.
“Cole! We’re about to start!” shouted Dylan. I nod my head and make my way on stage.
“Come on babe! We’re gonna be late!” Derrick shouted from downstairs.
I’m coming, I’m coming. Don’t get your panties in a twist.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I’m wearing a simple strapless dress that goes to my mid-thigh. It’s tight at the corset but flows nicely at the skirt. I put on some wedges and do my makeup. I barely put makeup on, so I add some mascara and light pink lipstick. I grabbed my bag and ran out the room (as much as I can in wedges).
When I made it down the stairs, I heard a wolf whistle and turned around. Derrick was staring at me hungrily and I didn’t like it one bit.
“You know, we can always stay here and hang out with that little number of yours,” he said in a husky voice. My body started to respond, but I refused to fall prey to that.
“N-no. W-we have-“, I cut myself off with a moan when Derrick starts to kiss my neck. My body craves for Derrick’s and demands to be satisfied. I can feel the buzz from the pleasure I’m feeling.
“You were saying?” I felt Derrick’s smirk on my neck and just like that, a bucket of ice water poured all over me. I stand up straight and glare at him. Damn him.
“We’re going to be late to the show, come on!” with a groan, Derrick gets his keys and we walk to his car.
When we get to the club entrance, I can already feel the beat of the music, knowing they started the show.
“Okay babe, I’m gonna look around a bit. Don’t wait up until the show is over.” with that Derrick, leaves me by myself.
What a gentleman? Not.
I can’t help but feel some relief. I look around the club.
Teenagers filled the whole club and were all practically drunk. Ignoring that, I go to lie against the wall and look at the stage. On stage were two guys playing music. I bob my head to the beat. I’m not going to lie, they are really good.
One of the singers caught my eye though. My eyes stayed magnetically attached to him.
His body was built, strong, and could easily tower over me. You can see his muscles through his thin white shirt, letting me practically drool from the sight. His blonde hair looked so soft and I wanted to run my fingers through it to see if it really was. My body felt the urge to go over there, which confused me. First Derrick, and now him?
I swear I’m losing it.
I was about to turn around, until his bright blue eyes connected with mine.
I lost it. Literally. I was lost in the blues of his eyes, drowning but never wanting to come back up. I felt the pull to go up there and see him- to touch him. My body felt like it was being tugged to him, wanting to be near him.
That’s when it hit me like a ton of bricks.
