Chapter 58

“Shit, sorry. I didn’t see you there.” she said, obviously right on top of me, in an awkward position.

“Yeah, okay. Get off me.” I replied as she got up and tried helping me up but I refused.

I looked at Brook, then Maria. Only to see Maria looking outrageously upset. Her arms were crossed, and she didn’t say or do anything besides walk away from the scene so I followed her as she left.

“Hey, Princess. Wait up.” I called out from behind her but she kept walking, so eventually I ran over beside her.

“I told you I didn’t trust that girl.” she replied, still walking away from me. “Clearly, she’s trying to get at you. And the fact she’s friends with Karina!” she exclaimed still walking.

“Hey now,” I replied grabbing her arm gently which caused her to stop and turn to me. “Look, okay. I’m sorry, I should’ve known better.” I added.

“What was that?” she questioned as she stopped walking and turned around a bit, her arms crossed.

“I should’ve known better.” I repeated again, girls.. they just wanna hear you’re wrong. “You happy I admitted I was wrong?” I asked.

“Yes.” she replied. “Because I don’t think many guys would admit to their mistakes.” she added.

“Well then, count me as different.” I replied followed by a soft chuckle, now walking beside her with an arm around her shoulders. “You know, we’ve been for awhile. Wanna go grab a bite to eat?” I questioned.

“Ooh, can we get some ramen?!” she asked excitedly, while looking up at me with a smile.

“If you’re in a mood for that, then sure. I know a ramen place in Richmond.” I replied.

After she had mentioned wanting to get some ramen, we returned the ice skates for our regular ones and headed out. We went to this pretty good ramen place called Isshin. When we arrived, the host showed us to our seats and gave us the menus.

“Can I start you two off with drinks?” the waitress asked.

“Yes please, I’ll have water.” I replied.

“Me too, please.” Maria replied with a smile.

“Okay, I’ll be back with your water.” the waitress replied heading to the back, then quickly returning with our drinks.. though we still haven’t decided on a order.

After a few more short minutes of the two of us looking through the menu...

“Are you ready to order?” I questioned, putting my menu down on the table.

“Mhm, are you?” she questioned back doing the exact same thing I did.

“Yeah,” I replied raising my hand as the waitress noticed and walked over. “We’re ready to order.” I said.

“What can I get for you?” the waitress asked with a smile as I looked over at Maria, which meant for her to order to first.

“Can I please get the miso ramen?” she asked with a smile.

“Yes, of course. And how bout you?” the waitress asked looking over at me.

“I’ll take the spicy miso ramen, please.” I replied taking Maria’s menu and handing it to the waitress.

“Okay, I’ll be right back with your orders.” the waitress replied with a smile as she took the menus and headed to the back.

While waiting for our orders, we were watching whatever was on the tv. Which was the game between Warriors & Cavaliers. By the way, Go Cavaliers! Maria was going for the Warriors..

“I bet the Cavaliers will win.” I said confidently.

“No, no. I bet they’ll lose.” she replied.

“Aight, bet. If you lose this bet, you gotta give me something in return.” I replied with a small smirk.

“And what would you want?” she questioned.

“I’ll tell you later, when we get the actual results on which team won this game.” I replied with a confident smile.

MARIA’S POV:

When our food arrived, we were still watching the game. Even when we finished our food, the game was still going on but we headed home. Once he dropped me off to my house, I kissed him bye and thanked him for today. When I entered the house, I headed straight for my room and took a long nap.

// T h e N e x t D a y \\

The following morning, of course the first thing I did was look at my phone only to see I got a text message from a random number saying,

“Watch your back, hoe. ☺️”

“How did you even get my number?” I texted back, obviously knowing it was Karina.

“I have my sources.” she texted back.

“Okay.. well then, do your worst bitch. 😘 Me & Hunter are gonna stay together forever, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” I texted.

“Oh, I will. And we’ll see about that. 😊” she texted back. “It’s almost close to the end of the year, you better prepare yourself.” she texted once again.

After that, I didn’t respond. I just headed straight to the shower as usual, then I got dressed for school and such, brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs.

“I can drop you off to school today.” Mom said as I walked down the stairs.

“Really? Thanks.” I replied with a small smile as I texted Hunter saying I didn’t need a ride.

The usual, arrived at school and hung out with friends that were already there at school.

“Karina threatened you in text?!” Rose exclaimed angrily.

“Don’t worry, we got your back.” Jack replied.

“Yeah, what Jack said. Plus, I don’t think she’d be able to cause any harm with Hunter around you.” Cole replied.

“Hey guys, what’s up?” Hunter asked just now getting to school.

“Oh, nothing really. Just talking about how Karina threatened Maria in texted.” Cole replied casually.

“Karina-- what?” Hunter asked looking at me.

“Yeah, but.. I don’t care. I think she’s all bark no bite.” I replied shrugging.

“I’d hope so.” Hunter replied pursing his lips.

“Good morning you lovely people~!” Karina chimed into the conversation before looking at me. “Maria.” she said casually with a smile.

“Desperate bitch.” I replied returning the same smile to her.

“Haha, you’re very kind.” she replies sarcastically before walking away.

“Damn, Maria. I didn’t know you cussed.” Cole replied, clearly shocked by it. “Did you know she did Hunter?” he asked.

“Nope, not at all. I didn’t think she had it in her to cuss.” Hunter replied. “Did you think she did Jack?” Hunter questioned.

“Nah, she seems like a good--” I cut Jack off.

“Yes, I know. A goody two shoes, I get it guys. You’re surprised I cussed because I seem like a good girl; a goody two shoes.” I replied.

“Exactly.” Cole replied. “What do you have to say to her cussing at Karina?” he asked Hunter.

“Pft, what can’t I say? That’s my girl!” Hunter replied proudly wrapping an arm around me as I just let out a soft chuckle.

“The end of the year is close,” Jack commented. “We should end this year strong.” he added calmly.

“Not just the end of the year, our graduation as well!” Cole replied enthusiastically. “I’m not gonna miss any of ya’ll for sure. Gotta move on with my life after graduation after all.” he added casually.

“That’s true.” Rose replied. “But unlike Cole, I will definitely miss you all.” she added.

“It’s been a great year.” Jack replied with a small chuckle and ended with a smile.

“Do you guys not hear yourselves?” I questioned laughing nervously. “The school year hasn’t ended yet, and it’s like you’re all saying goodbye already.” I replied.

“Maria’s right, the school year’s not over yet.” Hunter replied. “But, even after we graduate, we’ll all still be around here in California. It’s not like we’ll stop seeing each other.” he added.

“Mhm! While we’re still Seniors about to graduate.. let’s make the most out of it.” Rose replied confidently with a fist of determination in the air.

Right when school ended, we all met up at the front and talked about where we should go and when should we go.

“I checked the weather for Friday, and it said it was gonna be hecka hot. Possibly 92 degrees.” Cole mentioned.

“Hot.. why don’t we go to a waterpark on Friday then?” Rose questioned. “Does anyone have plans on Friday?” she asked.

Everyone shook their head.

“Is anyone against going to a waterpark?” Jack questioned looking at all of us, and once again we all shook our head.

“Alright. You guys wanna go to Raging Waters?” Cole suggested.

“Honestly, I’m fine with whatever.” I replied.

“Same.” Hunter replied as everyone else joined along saying they were fine with whatever as well.

“Okayy.. Raging Waters is.” Cole replied. “Anyways.. what’re you gonna wear there Maria?” Cole questioned with a wink.

“Yeah, I don’t think you should be asking that in front of her boyfriend.” Hunter replied.

“Psh, I’m practically asking for you dude. I know you’d be to shy to ask her yourself.” Cole replied shrugging it off.

“What I wear there is my business.” I replied firmly.

“I might be able to get us a discount on the tickets. I know someone who works there.” Rose replied with a smile.

“That would be great.” Jack replied.

“I shall go ask later when I get home,” Rose replied. “Jack, can you please take me home for today? My brother’s at work right now.” she added looking over at him.

“Yeah, come on. Let’s go.” Jack replied motioning for her to follow. “Bye guys!” he added before officially leaving with Rose.

“Hey, wait! I need a ride home to man!” Cole shouted running after them.

When the others had left, Hunter and I left as well.. well, he dropped me off at my house as I noticed my Mom’s car parked on the driveway.

“Why don’t you come in and eat lunch with my Mom and I?” I suggested with a smile.

“If it’s alright for me too.” Hunter replied.

“Of course.” I replied still keeping the smile as I exited his car and walked with him to my front door as he locked his car while I opened the door.

“Mom, I’m home!” I called out walking over to the kitchen, knowing she’d be there.

“Lunch is prepared!” Mom called out as she looked at me, then Hunter.

“Ma, is it okay if Hunter eats lunch with us?” I questioned with a hopeful smile.

“Of course! The more the merrier.” Mom replied with a jolly smile. “Come on, have a seat.” she added walking over to the cabinet to get an extra plate as she placed it down on the table as we sat down and took our seats.

10 minutes later...

“Thank you for the food, it was delicious.” Hunter commented with a smile.

“No problem, feel free to have lunch with us whenever you like.” Mom replied.

“I might just take you up on that offer.” he replied with a soft chuckle before looking over at me. “Alright, I gotta go now Princess.” he said giving me a kiss on the forehead.

“Okay, I’ll walk you out.” I replied standing up following him to the front door.

“I’m guessing your Mom is some master chef?” Hunter questioned with a small smile.

“She used to have cooking classes, way back.” I replied with a smile.

“That’s interesting.” he replied. “I might come back again, to eat lunch with you guys. Well, only if I’m invited too.” he added.

“My Mom welcomes everyone.” I replied with a smile.

Before Hunter headed home, we gave each other a small peck on the lips as I watched him get inside the car and waved as he drove away. After that, I headed back inside and locked the door behind me and thanked Mom for the delicious lunch earlier before heading up to my room to finish up some homework.

As I was doing homework, my phone vibrated showing it was Rose calling as I answered.

“Mariaaa! I don’t know what to wear when we go to Raging Waters on Friday!” Rose said in a somewhat panicked voice.

“Uhh.. a swimsuit?” I joked.

“Yes, but I don’t know whether to go with a two piece or one piece!” she replied.

“Ro, either one is a swimsuit whichever should be fine.” I replied.

“What’re you gonna wear? A one or two piece?” she questioned.

I laughed, “Honestly, I’m not so sure myself.” I answered. “But, I’d say go with whatever you feel looks comfortable for you.” I added.

“Okay, I will.. thank you!” she replied cheerfully before hanging up.

I think she was panicking about it because, well, we were going with a bunch of guys after all. And she might’ve felt uncomfortable.

HUNTER’S POV;

Right when I had gotten home, I was in a group call with Jack and Cole.

“Hey guys, do you think the girls will wear a two piece?” Cole questioned.

“I don’t know.” I replied.

“Eh, not so sure.” Jack replied.

“Well, if they did they probably would look so sexyyy.. don’t you guys think so to?” he asked.

“Cole, you’re talking about our girlfriends here.” I replied. “If they do, don’t eye them. You’ll make them feel uncomfortable.” I added.

“Yeah, what Hunter said.” Jack agreed.

“I know, I know. Why would I even try to get at them? They’re with my friends after all,” Cole replied. “I will try to get at the other girls there though, because damn!” he added.

“If you say so, but if their boyfriends beat you up we’ll just walk away from it because you weren’t thinking.” Jack replied.

“Aw, that’s cold!” Cole replied.

“What Jack is trying to say is, before you flirt with them make sure their single.” I replied.

“I will, maybe I could meet my future girlfriend there too.” Cole replied.

We all stayed silent when he mentioned getting girlfriend before we all laughed about it.

“Yeah, right.” Jack replied.

“Haha, true. It’s just in my nature, I could never give myself to just one girl.” Cole replied.

“Well, what’re you gonna do in the future?” I questioned Cole.

“What do you mean?” Cole questioned back.

“I mean, are you gonna marry a girl you love for the rest of your life or are you gonna stay single and continue messing around with girls and have no kids?” I asked.

“Honestly, I’m not sure. I guess we’ll see what happens in the future, won’t we?” Cole replied followed by a soft chuckle.

“I bet.. eventually, Cole will get tired of messing around with other girls and stick to one which will be the love of his life.” Jack replied confidently.

“Hey now, why are we all just talking about my future? It’s gonna be a long time from now guys.” Cole replied.

After talking about random topics, eventually we all hung up and went to sleep. School isn’t always fun to talk about, so let’s head onto Friday after school, going to Raging Waters!

// F r i d a y \\

Right when school had ended, we all met up at the front and discussed whose riding with who.. there was 5 of us, so we had to decide on who Cole would be riding with.

“Cole, who do you wanna ride with?” I asked.

“I’ll ride with Jack, I usually do anyways.” Cole replied nonchalantly, then we all headed out.

An hour later..

We made it to Raging Waters, we were still wearing our school clothes but we obviously had our swimsuits under them. Rose was able to convince the person that gave us a discount for the tickets to give us a cabana.

“Who did you to give us a discount on the tickets anyway, Rose?” Cole questioned.

“My brother.” she replied cheerfully.

“Your brother? Does he like serve drinks or some sort here?” he questioned again.

Rose shook her head, “Not at all. He works as a lifeguard here.” she responded.

“A lifeguard, huh? That’s cool, I guess.” Cole replied shrugging a bit.

“Maria, let’s go get ready over here in the corner.” Rose mentioned dragging her away with her to the corner.

Us guys being respectful of the girls, we didn’t look at the girls as they took off the clothes they wore to school only to reveal their swimsuits. We also did the same, you guys probably know the details already. Us guys, no shirt.. cough. Before leaving the cabana, we put on sunscreen.

“Do you guys need sunscreen?” Jack asked.

“It’s fine, we have our own.” Maria replied.

After putting on sunscreen, we were all set. But now we just need to think about what to do first around here.

“We’re ready to go swimming~!” Rose said cheerfully walking towards us with Maria.

“Alright, where do you guys wanna go first?” Cole asked as we all turned around and looked at them.

Yup, they were wearing a two piece.

Cole moved a bit closer to me, “You might wanna watch over Maria.. there’s already guys in the cabana next to us checking her out from behind.” he whispered to me, before saying the same thing about Rose to Jack.

I looked at the cabana next to us that was filled with mostly guys and they were definitely checking her out. I gotta keep her close.

“I think we should start with those tall looking slides then end it with the lazy river.” I said.

“I’m up for that.” Maria replied with a smile.

“I’m not against it either.” Jack replied.

“Let’s head on there now?” Cole questioned.

“Okay, let’s go! It’s starting to get hot!” Rose replied as we all walked to the tall slides as a small group.

Basically, whenever we went to a slide we’d put our hands over our shoulders and just lie down. Honestly, I don’t even know why I’m explaining this because you all probably know about this already. Anyways, after the water slides we decided to look for something to eat then go to the lazy river and just wait for our food to digest before going on anymore slides.

“You guys enjoying yourselves?” a familiar voice asked, interrupting our peaceful eating.

“Mhm, thanks for hooking us up with the discount again bro.” Rose replied before munching on her barbecue again.

“Thanks.” everyone else said right after Rose thanked her older brother again.

“No prob, it’s the least I could do for my lil sis and her friends.” Beck replied. “Alright, well. I’m gonna go walk around a bit before getting back to my lifeguard duty. Someone took over my place, but ya know.” he shrugged before walking away.

“I’ll be back guys,” Maria said standing up. “I’m gonna go to the bathroom and wash my hands before we go anywhere else.” she added.

“Wait, do you want me to walk with you there?” I questioned looking over at her.

“No, it’s fine. You’re still eating, and I’ll only take a minute.” she replied with a smile before walking away, she was the first to finish out of all of us, damn she’s a fast eater.

MARIA’S POV;

After just casually walking to the bathroom, I washed my hands immediately with soap then rinsed my hands.. since some want it detailed. Then I dried my hands in the dryer, though there was really no need to since it was just gonna get wet again because come on. We’re at a Waterpark! Afterwards, I was walking back when all of a sudden I felt a hand on me which caused me to stop and turn around.

“Damn baby, are you alone?” a random guy about my age asked before scanning me.

“No, I’m not alone. And I’m not your baby.” I replied about to walk away until he suddenly grabbed my wrist.

“You look alone to me. I can keep you company anytime you like.” he responded flirtatiously.

“As I’ve said, I’m not alone. I’m here with my friends, and I’d like you to leave me alone please.” I responded turning away to walk away, only until he gripped my wrist a bit tighter clearly not letting me go.

“Hey now, I’m trying to be kind here. It’s rude of you to reject such a nice offer,” he replied.

“You’re not being kind at all, just creepy. Now please leave me alone.” I replied trying to yank my wrist away from him.

“Okay, now listen here--” the guy was cut off by someone else interfering.

“No, you listen here dude. She told you to leave her alone, so why don’t you leave her alone?” the person interfering questioned.
