Chapter 4: New Matt?

“M-Matt…” Gasped Jessica, so shocked like everybody else. “T-This…”

Matt just glared at her and her friends.

“B-But Matt! This is Wish Anderson!” Desperation was in her voice.

She’s right. I am Wish Anderson. Wish Anderson, whose very existence you loathe.

“I know who she is, Crow.” He sounded so angry that Jessica and her friends, and yours truly, flinched. What the hell is he so angry about?

“Then why are you defending her?” This silenced the murmuring that had once again erupted.

Defending? Yeah, right. Like that will ever happen.

“Don’t tell me that you’re charmed by her fakeness too?” She glared at me. “A loser will always be one. If you think you’re a caterpillar that morphed into a butterfly, then you’re dead wrong! You’re just a roach that morphed into a Moth!”

“I’d rather be a roach that morphed into a Moth, than a tadpole that morphed into a frog.” I smirked at her smugly.

“Why you little–!”

“What? I never said it was you.” I raised a brow at her. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Jessica.”

She was about to attack me again but, Matt got in her way by standing in front of me. “I said enough!” He said angrily, and then grabbed my arm and dragged me towards their house.

“What the– ! Let go!” I protested and struggled to free myself. Even though I was covered in slimy goo, surprisingly, he held at me firmly.

I didn’t realize that we were already inside one of the rooms in the house, until he roughly pushed me on a bed; looking angry still.

“What the hell did you do that for?” I yelled at him angrily. I should be the one angry here, not him! What right does he think he have to do this to me?

His expression softened as he raked his hand through his hair. “I’m sorry.” He said softly as he tried to approach me.

“Don’t you dare.” I glared at him.

He looked surprised and backed away. “Sorry. I just– ” He sighed. “Just get yourself cleaned. The bathroom’s right there. I’ll have someone bring you a cha– ”

“I don’t need help.” I snapped, getting up from the bed. “Especially from you.” I’d rather get home on my stupid heels and covered in stupid goo, than get help from him. I tried to leave the room but he caught my wrist.

“Anderson, please. Let me do this for you.” He implored.

“I said I don’t need help!” I snapped again, trying to get my wrist free from his hold. “Let go!”

“Look! I know I had been an asshole.” Hell, yeah! “I’m so sorry for everything I did. But that was three years ago, Anderson. Can’t we start over again and be friends?”

I looked at him incredulously. Is he serious? “You’re crazy.” I said, trying to free myself again. “That will never happen. Ever.” With another tug, I finally freed myself and attempted to take my leave again.

“Why not? You seemed to be cordial with everybody else.” Right. If you don’t count Jessica and her minions.

“Don’t compare yourself to them, Roose.”

“You’re being so immature Anderson!” He exclaimed.

The hell! Who does he think he is to say that to me? “Maybe I am!” I snapped. “Maybe I really am being immature. But I don’t care! I don’t want to be friends with you, and that’s that!” I said stubbornly.

“Ander– ”

“In case you hadn’t realized after all these years, you’re the one who started everything. The only reason why I came tonight, is to show everyone, to show you, that I am not the Wish Anderson you once knew. I am changed, Roose. And not only physically. Now if you understand, leave me alone and don’t ever show your face in front of me again.”

And with that, I took off.

Friends. Such a simple word, though to me has a heavy meaning. Tears threatened to flow from my eyes, but I held them in. I will never show weakness in the enemy territory.

Yes, he’s right. I am being immature, but I’m not the loser I used to be, I’m different now and I showed everyone that. It’s so stupid of me to hold a grudge against him after all these years, but like I said, Matt is a different story. I was in love with him all those times that he found amusement in my misery. I guess it’s really not that easy to forget.
