After losing her mother at the age of eight, twenty-one-year-old Millicent Kale is struggling with a constant headache and excruciating nightmares. When life finally becomes a close-to-normal routine, Millicent's boss and only friend, Mrs. Griffin, decides to retire. While this is shocking news, an even bigger shock is to find out that Mrs. Griffin dies shortly after retiring. Grief and pain overwhelm Millicent, this is the last drop before a breakdown and next thing she knows - she split her mind, a physical duplicate appearing out of nowhere. While Millicent tries to figure out what had happened and what to do next, there are other dangers surrounding her. Good thing that Dean Write is there to protect her and save the day, even when she doesn't really need the help. After another failed attempt on her life, Millicent's secret gets discovered by Dean and that's only the beginning of their mutual adventure. There's a killer on the loose and they need to find him. Easier said than done, it's hard to concentrate when you’ve practically fallen in love with your partner and new boss.

PROLOGUE

This novel is available only for the beta period. Once it is over the story will be hidden, so keep that in mind, since you might not be able to read it in time!

If you believe you know what pain is, you are mistaken.

You have no idea what it’s like to live with it every day, every second, every moment of your life. You have no idea how it is to die every night, living through every stab, every bullet, to feel your flesh burn to dust and then wake up, the smell of your scorched skin still creeping up your nose. You’d think after all these years of constant agony I would be used to it, but I’m not.

It’s hard to ignore a mind splitting headache that gets worse throughout the day, hurting your brain with each throb and stab, though I do try. Day after day I try to ignore it, try to push it away. In the end, it’s still easier to handle than my nightmares, which I have no control over whatsoever.

I tried to take analgesics, went to various doctors to find out what the hell’s wrong with me. Yet the only sort of anomaly they found was my blood type, which is the rarest of all--ABO negative. That’s it. Great, thanks, so very helpful.
