Chapter 17

That night I was so exhausted that I immediately went to bed. No shower or anything just collapsed onto my bed. Aquaphira kicked my butt in training today. I couldn’t even deal with Avin and his silence today, I just blatantly ignored him all day.

I still don’t know where Avin goes when I go to sleep, but I was just too tired to care really. I just wanted to sleep without being interrupted for once. Also, I wanted just to do something that wouldn’t involve anything drastic or eventful.

Please just let me sleep through the night without any issues. I closed my eyes and snuggled into the pillow to get comfortable. I don’t know exactly how long I was asleep for, but it didn’t feel like a long time when I was woken up again. It looks like I wasn’t going to get the sleep that I had wanted.

I opened my eyes a crack, annoyed at being woken up in the middle of the night. My room was dark, but the light from some form of the moon was coming in through my curtains, lighting up the room a bit. At first, I thought that Avin might’ve woken me up. But when I sat up on my knees on the bed and looked around my room, he was nowhere in sight.

I scanned my room, wondering what had made the noise that had woken me up. The curtains were blowing in the wind. I was pretty sure that that hadn’t been open when I went to sleep last night. It might’ve been because I didn’t pay much attention to much last night.

I heard a clunk coming from over by my dresser. I whipped my head over to that area but didn’t see anything. My heart started beating faster in my chest. Something was in my bedroom, and it was moving incredibly fast. I heard another noise, but it sounded closer. I looked at the end of my bed, to where the sound had come from. Still, I couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary there.

“You shouldn’t be alive,” a voice said from somewhere in the shadows. I kept whipping my head from side to side as I tried to find out where the voice was coming from. “But I’m glad I got the chance to finally get you alone.”

Why did the voice sound familiar? I knew that it was a male’s voice. Perhaps an older man by the noise of the gruffness in the voice. Who the heck was in my room?

Suddenly I felt an arm go around my body, capturing my arms in an iron locking grip. I tried to scream, terrified for my life. But another hand came across my mouth, silencing me. I tried to pull away with all my might, but this person wasn’t even faltering in their hold. I quickly grew tired of struggling and stopped. I was panting, and my arms were sore from his tight grip.

“That’s better,” the voice replied right next to my ear. His breath was fanning the right side of my face. His breath smelled of something foul, and his voice sounded almost predatory.

Who the hell was holding me captive like this? I tried to ask the person who they were and what they wanted, but it just came out like a bunch of muffled grunts. What was this guy planning on doing to me now that he had me mostly immobilized?

I heard him inhale deeply and felt his nose on my neck. I tried to flinch away, but the hand that was on my mouth held me steadfast to whatever position he wanted my head in. Right then he pulled my head to the left so that the right side of my neck was bare, and no matter how hard I pulled I couldn’t escape his grip.

When I felt his lips come to rest on my neck, I gasped, and I shivered in disgust. How could I possibly be so blind that I wouldn’t have noticed this person enter my room? Oh god, where was Avin? I tried one more attempt at escaping from his grip by biting his hand, but I just couldn’t seem to get a good angle to bite him at.

In a flash of movement, that was too fast for my eyes to see. The male who was behind me pushed me down onto the bed and was now on top of me. My arms were held above my head on the bed by one of his hands while the other hand was still on my mouth keeping me silent. Since I was on my knees before this, I wound up capturing my legs underneath my body.

I was stunned into silence when I saw who my captor was. King Regalis was hovering just above me holding me down. He had this look on his face that made me want to scream and run away as fast as I could. He was looking down at me with such a creepy lust and desire that I wanted no part of.

“Ah, still as beautiful and feisty as you were back then,” King Regalis whispered to me as he lowered his face down towards mine. I wrinkled my nose at the smell of his breath and tried to back away, but I had nowhere left to go. There was also one other problem. I was pretty sure that the King would be crispy by now considering that my arms were tingling with heat. When I glanced up at his hands to see what the problem was. I noticed that he was wearing leather gloves of sorts. Well, that would explain it.

“Now I just need you to hold very still, and if you do I promise that this won’t be painful,” King Regalis whispered just above my face. There was a heated desire in his eyes that was making me sick just looking at them. How could a king possibly do this? Why did he keep saying things like I might have known him at one point or another? I was fairly sure that I had never met him before. “Just to show how nice I am, I won’t discharge inside you.”

I heard a sound like metal on metal going on above my head. I glanced up and noticed that I was now chained to the bed rather than King Regalis holding me there. With his now spare hand he reached into a pocket on his shirt and pulled out a handkerchief. A flicker of movement and he had managed to gag me with me being able to scream.

My heart was pounding with fear. There wasn’t going to be an escape for me this time, was there? I turned my head away from him so that I wouldn’t have to look at him and what he was doing.

That’s when he started touching me. At first, he was just kissing my neck and feeling my breasts through my shirt. Then my shirt came off, and he wasn’t so gentle, and nothing I did seemed to faze him from what he was doing.

That’s when the door to my bedroom started to creak open slowly. King Regalis stopped, smiled down at me and then ran over to my window. He disappeared over the ledge just as the door completely swung open. Terrified at who was by the door I shakily glanced over out of the corner of my eye.

In the doorway stood Val. After half a second hesitation I remembered that I didn’t have a shirt on. I quickly covered myself up. I surprised to see that the chains and handkerchief had vanished too.

“Oh no, he got to you didn’t he?” Val whispered from the door before rushing over to me. I flinched away from him. I didn’t want to be touched by another man, ever. Val seemed to understand and backed up a couple of steps before sitting cross-legged on the ground. “I’m sorry Kris, I should’ve warned you sooner. No one else seemed to believe me, and I couldn’t take the king on by myself. I truly am sorry Kris.”

“Why-why am I not scared of you?” I asked him as I narrowed my eyes confused. I wasn’t afraid of him at all. Why was that? Val shrugged, and half smiled.

“I don’t know; maybe it’s an instant connection between soon to be good friends,” Val suggested half joking as he looked up at me from the ground. What he had said struck me as rather odd. Odd and familiar. I am starting to hate déjà vu.

“Would you…would you mind staying with me to make sure that he doesn’t come back?” I asked Val feeling extremely vulnerable and embarrassed. I also felt close to tears. I was just barely managing to hold them back. Val nodded and got up. I watched him walk around to the other side of the bed and sit down on top of the blankets. He tossed me my shirt that was on the ground beside the bed, before leaning back against the wall and the pillows.

I scrambled to put my crop top back on. I felt a little bit better once I was more covered. I pulled the blankets tightly around my shoulders and curled up on the far side of the bed. I still felt gross, so I didn’t want to be too close to Val. But his presence did make me feel safer.

I must’ve fallen asleep because when I woke up again in the middle of the night, I was curled up right against Val. He had an arm around my back and was fast asleep sitting up on my bed. I wasn’t awake for long before I fell back to sleep.
