Chapter 28

Now I know I said that I was done with this sugar daddy nonsense, but giving Marco my number had nothing to do with that. I don’t even really consider him an active sugar daddy since he hasn’t had a participant in years so it’s not like I’m getting into a new arrangement. Talking to Marco was fun and he has a nice personality. He’s definitely someone I’m attracted to so what’s the harm?

After giving him my number, we proceed to text back and forth for a week about whatever. We talk about how our days are going and he talks about buying a condo in the area which is odd for someone who says he likes to travel. He doesn’t seem like the type to settle down and buy a place. I don’t think much of it anyway. People with a lot of money will always confuse me.

After getting off work early before the weekend, Marco invites me over to see his new place. I’m honestly shocked that he got it so fast, but I guess that’s what money does. Considering that it’s Friday and I have nothing else to do, I agree to let him pick me up. When I get home, I take a quick shower before throwing on simple halter neck bodycon dress and a pair of Vans with my hair in a messy bun. Just as I’m spraying a little perfume on, I get a text from Marco saying that he’s here and asking if I want him to come to the door. Laughing, I tell him that I’ll come down.

I grab my things and head on down, pretty excited that I’m actually off early and I have plans even if it’s just looking at a condo with Marco. It’s nice to have the company since I’m lacking in the friend department.

Once I’m down to the front entrance of the building, I see Marco sitting in a Jeep Wrangler with the doors off since it’s nice and warm outside tonight.

“Nice ride.” I smile as he winks at me.

“Climb on in, moonchild.”

“Moonchild, yeah?” I laugh as I walk around to the passenger side, climbing in. As I’m pulling my seatbelt on, I look over at him and that charming smile is beaming at me.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to over how good looking he is with his dreads pulls back, tanned skin, and tall toned body. I usually go for guys who are mildly buff, but Marco is a different kind of fit. He’s toned from most likely hiking mountainsides and surfing in different countries. It’s a body I can definitely get used to.

“Yeah, moonchild. You only come out at night.” He smirks.

“True. So what made you want to buy a condo? You don’t seem like the type to stay put long.”

“I visit here a lot and staying in a hotel gets boring after awhile. I need someone that I can relax. Somewhere I can make memories in, store of belongings, and just live.” He shrugs as I nod.

“I understand. After my friend moved out, my place became a little dull. I sleep and leave and come home to sleep.”

“Why’d your friend move out?”

“She didn’t agree with me being with Ronan. Then it turned out that she secretly just didn’t like me all that much.”

I come to the realization that had none of this sugar daddy stuff happened, I would have never known Blaire’s true feelings. I’d still continue to live with her thinking she’s family when secretly she’d be my worst enemy.

“That’s unfortunate. Were you too super close?”

“I thought we were, but I guess not. She was my only friend so needless to say with no Ronan and no Blaire, I’m a lonely girl these days.” I smile softly, but Marco looks over with a saddened expression.

“Well, consider yourself no longer lonely. I’m here for you, Lina. I like your energy. You’re easy going and you know what you want. I don’t like the fact that Ronan tried to change things about you with manipulation.”

“What was your last sugar baby like?”

“Uh, she was a little like you. She was determined and kind, but she made it known that it was simply a business transaction between us. However, when she wanted more money, she made it seem like she was falling for me. In the end, she walked away with $25,000 and a piece of my heart.”

“Wow, what a bitch.”

Marco laughs, shaking his head.

“Yeah, it took me awhile to get over it. I harbor no hard feelings towards her. A few months ago she tried to reconnect, but it didn’t work in her favor.”

“Good. You don’t need anyone like that in your life. People don’t realize that sugar babies are using the men just as much as the men are using them.” I frown, hearing a little sting of anger in my voice. I don’t know why, but I guess I’m still feeling some type of way about Ronan. He was so charming in the beginning and then he turned out to be a total asshole.

“I know that now. That’s why I like you. You didn’t beg for anything from Ronan. You had no problem putting your foot down when you didn’t agree with something instead of caving in for the money. I find that kind of strength commendable and very attractive.”

As the street lights flash into the car every few feet, I can see Marco’s expression as he looks over at me. Briefly, he gives me this look that sends a warm feeling in my lower tummy. I knew when I met him there was something about him. Nothing about him says danger or mysteriousness. His openness draws me to him. I just need to know if he has an ulterior motive.

“Marco, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but are you getting close to me because you...”

“No, not at all.” He says before I can finish my question. “I have no intentions of asking you to be my sugar baby. Have I thought about it? Yes, but I know you need time. I’ve been out of the game so long, I wouldn’t even know how to ask you.” He laughs. God, he has a nice laugh.

“Good. I just intentionally wanted to be in that lifestyle. Ronan convinced me to try it with him so I did. To be honest, I thought we were better looking than him when I first met you.”

Marco starts laughing, throwing his head back a bit.

“Damn, that definitely makes me feel good because I thought you were gorgeous. I still think you’re gorgeous.”

“And I still think you’re better looking.” I smirk.

After a good bit of a drive, Marco pulls off onto a semi-secluded road. There is a tiny organic store along with a gas station, but when you head down the road, nothing. At the end, however, there is a three-story condo building.

“This is it?”

“Yes, they were just built a few months ago. They will probably build more by the end of the year.” He says, pulling up into the parking lot. Getting out, I walk around to Marco and he wraps his arm around me, pulling me with him as we walk up to the door.

“So which one is yours?”

“I’m the kind of guy that likes to be on top.”

“Mmm.” I couldn’t even stop the moan if I wanted to.

Inside the first floor lobby, we head to the elevator and while we’re waiting, the sexual tension builds between it without of even forcing it. Even standing two feet apart, it’s like he’s touching me. When the elevator doors open, I take a deep breath, stepping inside. Facing Marco, I watch him walk in, his eyes never leaving mine. I don’t even realize the doors are closed until we start moving. It only takes seconds for us to get to the third floor. If it had taken any longer, I don’t know who would’ve made the first move.
