Unlike the last event we’d attended together, Tobias drove us. Truth be told, I prefered the more relaxed approach. The drive to the venue was short, in fact it was only a few blocks down and if we hadn’t been dressed like we were, we probably could have walked.
Tobias sighed as we pulled into the car park, he slowed to a stop by the valet and turned the car off before getting out. He handed his keys to the young man whose face lit up, clearly excited at the thought of parking Tobias’ car.
“Take good care of her.” Tobias murmured dryly as he opened my car door.
The valet nodded, glancing over the car. “Yes sir.” He looked at me and nodded. “You look beautiful miss.”
Tobias’ hand tightened around mine. I smirked, amused by his absurd jealousy. We walked away from the car and toward the entrance of the building.
“Jealous?” I noted softly.
“Maybe.” he replied.
“Cute.” I teased.
Tobias brought me in close, and kissed my temple as the doormen opened the doors for us. We walked inside and I instantly tensed up, a fact that wasn’t lost on Tobias.
“We won’t stay long.” He murmured. “I just have to speak to Ryan and make my presence known.”
I nodded, aware that tonight was about business. Tobias was here to woo Ryan Hampton to sign with Clarke industries. But I couldn’t ignore the eyes that glanced toward us as we walked through the room, the eyes that darted away as soon as I tried to look back. To others our romance was entertainment, a mystery to decipher. I could hear the hushed whispers and as much as I hated to admit it, it made me sad.
I didn’t want to be the object of anyone’s gossip.
“Ah, Tobias Clarke. You made it.” Ryan Hampton’s voice broke through the whispering and the hum of the music. I glanced up at him, he wore a white suit, that sort of glowed under the black lights surrounding us. His dark hair was gelled back and he smiled a dazzling smile that I was sure captured the hearts of many women… but for some reason I wasn’t swayed.
“I see you brought Ruby… your PA.”
“And Girlfriend.” Tobias corrected through semi gritted teeth.
Ryan lifted my hand to his mouth and kissed it. “YOu’re looking gorgeous as ever Miss Moritz.”
“Thanks.” I replied dryly.
“I’m glad you came Toby… can I call you Toby.” Ryan started to talk about the deal, and how his associates were almost at the point of signing, they just needed a little push. I shut off listening as we walked towards the bar… the talk of contracts more than I could bear tonight.
“Babe.” Tobias said a few moments later. “Drink?”
I looked up at him, surprised to see that Ryan was gone. I’d zoned out their entire conversation. I bit my lip and shook my head. My stomach turned. I suddenly wasn’t feeling very good.
“I need the bathroom.” I exclaimed, pulling away from Tobias’ grasp. I moved through the ballroom and found my way into ladies. I slunk into a stall and leaned against the cubicle wall. The change in temperature between rooms seemed to be enough to quell my nausea. I took a long slow breath and unlocked the stall door, pushing against the grey door. I walked toward the basin and turned the stainless steel cold faucet on and watched the water run into the marble sink. I moved my hands beneath the refreshing water, allowing it to rush over my fingertips.
“Get it together.” I whispered to myself as I lifted my hands in front of my face, flicking my fingers so the spritz of water landed on my skin.
I looked in the mirror, but was unable to see all of my face due to lipstick on the glass. I stepped back, and tilted my head to focus.
My stomach dropped, and my heart began to race. Someone had drawn a noose, and had written my name in the loop. Unable to process what I was seeing I shook my head and hurried forward, pulling tissue after tissue from the receptacle. I wiped the mirror, smudging the offensive drawing until what it had been was no longer visible.
I looked down at my hands, the tissue red like blood in my hands. Shaking I dropped them and swallowed hard before racing from the room and straight into Tobias’ arms.
“Are you alright?” He exclaimed, concern thick in his throat “I thought I was going to have to send in a search party.”
I looked up at Tobias, and although I wanted to tell him what I’d seen I knew he’d only worry when it was probably nothing.
“I’m sorry, I’m not feeling the greatest.” I whispered.
Tobias’ gazed at me, his eyes were soft. He nodded and cupped my cheek. “Let’s go home.”
“But the deal?” I exclaimed.
“I’ve seen Ryan, I made an appearance and you’re more important than a silly business deal.” He replied.
“Yes, Ruby. I’m sure.”
Tobias led me from the building, escaping into the cool night air. My nausea slowly ebbed away. The valet brought Tobias car around, handing the keys back to him with a goofy grin. “Nice car sir.” He boasted.
“Thanks.” Tobias noted quietly. Tobias opened my door and helped me climb inside. A few moments later he opened his own door and sat down. The drive home was silent, It wasn’t until we pulled into the underground car park before Tobias spoke.
“I love you.” He murmured as he turned the car off.
“I love you too.” I replied as I turned to look at him. He bit his lip as he moved his hand from the steering wheel to my face. He brushed a stray hair from my face and leaned in to kiss me.
His mouth claimed mine, capturing me entirely into his orbit. Things had been odd recently, but right now none of that mattered. Right now I was filled with an explosive mixture of love and lust and it was unstoppable.
“We’re making out in your car.” my voice was little more than a mere whisper as I pulled back from the kiss. “But the distance from your car to the apartment will seem like a marathon if we continue this here.”
Tobias grinned and nodded, opening his car door and removing his seat belt simultaneously.
We kept our cool until the elevator stopped on our floor, stepping out as the doors opened. Tobias slipped his hand in mine, and squeezed. I looked up at him and bit my bottom lip, my entire body tingled from want. Tobias swallowed hard and lifted me up his hands ran up my spine. He pressed me up against the wall and we kissed, forgetting that realistically we were still in a public place.
“Apartment.” I mumbled against his lips. “Now.”
Tobias moved from the wall, blindly walking down the corridor, with me still in his arms. Eventually between kisses we made it to his door, and he fumbled around for his keycard whilst never removing his mouth from mine. The door beeped as it unlocked and he walked through, slamming it closed behind him.
He placed me down and nuzzled my neck as his hands reached behind me and pulled down the zip of my dress. The dress fell to the ground, leaving me wearing only the lacy red lingerie I’d put on earlier. Tobias gulped audibly and shook his head.
“It’s a good thing I didn’t know you were wearing that under your dress.” he said hungrily. “We’d never have left the apartment.”
I smiled and bit my lip again. “Maybe I should have told you then.”
Tobias grinned. “Maybe you should have. But no harm no foul. Good things come to those who wait.”
“I never put much weight in that saying.” I murmured. “Waiting seems like an awful waste of time when what I want is right in front of me.”
“You’re right.” Tobias muttered, wrapping his arm around my waist. “1000 times you are right.”
“Let’s go to bed.” I whispered.
Tobias lifted me off the ground and walked with me half naked in his arms toward the bedroom. He placed me down on the bed, and pulled at his suit impatiently. I licked my lips as I watched him undress. My stomach swirled with need, my center vibrating at the thought of being with him. It was of the places we were most in tune with one another, where we wanted the same things, where we were magic.
He shrugged off his shirt and pants at the same time, until finally he was only in his black boxer shorts. I sat up, reaching behind to unclasp my bra. Tobias leaned down and lifted it away from my body, flinging it across the room.
He cupped my breasts with his hands, leaning against the bed, curving into my body until his mouth hovered in front of mine.
I stole his kiss, suckling his bottom lip between my own. He let out a strangled moan and leaned in closer, moving us both further up the bed.
I placed my hands around the base of his neck, his skin warm beneath my fingertips. He pulled back from our kiss, only to press his mouth against the curve of my neck, sprinkling kisses down to my collarbone. He paused, looking up at me, our eyes met and he smiled softly before returning his mouth to my skin, tracing a line from my collarbone to my breast. I arched against him, the want that had been tingling from within had engulfed me. I grasped at his back, digging my fingers in slightly, which garnered a deep grunt from him, but he didn’t stop. INstead he only intensified the flickers of his tongue. Moving from one breast to the other, until the pleasure was almost painful. His fingers trailed down my stomach, and rest against the lace of my panties.
“I don’t know if I can restrain myself.” Tobias mumbled.
“I don’t want you to.” I murmured. “I want you. Now..”
“I want to savour you Ruby. I want to savour every moment we’re together.” He whispered as his fingers slipped underneath the flimsy material. I writhed beneath him, and suddenly I wasn’t even aware if he was whispering sweet nothings anymore, because I was under his control, my body his for the taking and he knew it.
I tried to reach for him, for his hardness, in an attempt to gain back some of the control, but he didn’t give in.
“I won’t last if you touch me there baby.” He whispered through gritted teeth. “Let me take the lead.”
My stomach flip flopped, hearing him admit to being so affected by me filled me with a type of ecstasy I couldn’t explain. Before I had time to revel in my ego boost he pulled down my panties and let them fall to the floor. His mouth moved further down, until he was between my legs, at my center. I was barely able to keep it together, a fact not lost on him as he flicked his tongue against the sensitive spot. I arched, as a wave of pleasure began to build from deep within me. I fell apart with him, at his control under his rules and my climax had barely ebbed before he was face to face with me, buried inside me.
We moved together, in sync until the familiar feeling began to wash over me again. I called out Tobias name, which seemed to be all he needed to push him over the edge. His body tensed, and our mouths crashed together as he shuddered against me.
We stayed positioned for a while, both focusing on breathing and recovering. It was a few minutes before Tobias fell beside me on the bed, pulling me with him, until my head lay on his chest.
“I love you.” He whispered a few minutes later, as sleep slowly overcame me. “More than anything. Don’t forget that.”
“I won’t.” I murmured sleepily. “Love you too.”
