Summary

Ave Michaels is fed up with romantic cliches and fairy tale endings. So what happens when this stubborn and cynical commitment-phobe finally meets her match? Will it be a hit or a ditch? DITCH is a young adult coming of age story that explores friendship, romance and moving forward with sarcasm, awkwardness and embracing one's inner wild child. “It is a truth universally acknowledged that when two persons of no particular age, outside the realm of romantic-comedy films and novels, say “I love you” does not equate to a romantic love story. More than often, they’re just words.” --- Avalon “Ave” Michaels , An Essay on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” for Twelfth-Grade English Literature

The Story So Far …

Ave Michaels has never had her heart broken. Ever.

Scratch that.

She had never fallen in love. Ever.

In fact, Ave Michaels is never one for romantic clichés and fairy tale endings.

And though most girls her age had gone through the teenage affairs of love and heartbreaks, she is content living as an independent and emotionally vacant soul.

That is, until she lands an opportunity to be published for one of the country’s biggest publishing houses. All she has to do is write a romance novel - sounds easy right?

What Ave doesn’t expect is that her story might just be written out for her.

Read what happens as this stubborn cynic and commitment-phobe finally meet her match while surviving high school and joining her friends explore the political landscape of school, family, friendship, and romance with humor, wit, and a whole lot of trouble.

Written in a soliloquy narrative with the ramblings of a humorous (and sometimes scatter-brained) angst-filled teenager, DITCH is a romantic coming-of-age story of a girl who unintentionally finds herself while learning to let go of the past.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that when two persons of no particular age, outside the realm of romantic-comedy films and novels, say “I love you” does not equate to a romantic love story. More than often, they’re just words.”
