It has been 3 years since everything went down. I’m now a Sophmore in college, Zach, who I’m still with after all of these years, is a Junior. We are going to the same college! It’s currently Christmas break, well more like Christmas day to be exact.
Today, Zach and I are heading to his mother’s house where everyone is meeting for Christmas. I was super excited I couldn’t stop talking about it on the way there.
“Are we almost that Zach?” I asked bouncing out of my seat. He let out a laugh.
“Yes, we are almost there princess.” He told me. Soon enough we pulled into there driveway.
I jumped out of the car and ran to the front door. I knocked on the door, not waiting for Zach of course cause I’m just that excited! It’s been awhile since I’ve been here.
“Lena!” Diana, Zach’s mother, said pulling me into a hug.
“Hey, Diana!” I said as we pulled away. “So who else is here?” I asked.
She let out a small laugh. “Everyone but you two.” She said.
Zach came up behind us, with a few bags in his hands. “Mom, can we please go in? I don’t want to carry these bags forever!” He complained.
“Awe, baby are you not as tough as you say you are? Don’t worry it’s okay. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I still love you.” I said to him.
He quickly straightens his posture and walked through the door carrying the bags. “I’m not weak, princess.” He whispered as he passed me. I laughed at him.
Soon we were all in the living room either sitting on the floor waiting for Alex, who I might add is the slowest person ever, to pass out presents. “Okay, one at a time. Oldest goes first.”
Slowly one by one every began to open their presents one after another. I, sadly, was the last one to open mine. It was from Iza. She had given me a blue journal. Ever since the days of that event happened, I’ve written everything down to the dot of an i. I always want to treasure every moment that happens.
“Awe! Thanks, Iza!” I said giving her a hug.
“Wait,” Diana said. “There is one present left.” She said handing a box to Zach, smirking at him as well. What is he up to?
Zach took my hand in his. “Follow me, princess.” He said. I got up off my knees, which were asleep since I was sitting on them, and followed him out the front door. Everyone had followed us with big goofy grins on their faces.
Okay, what is everyone hiding from me? Zach stopped in the middle of the yard and turned to face me. The light from the inside of the house shown on his face. “Lena Rose Mercer,” Zach began.
He dropped down on one knee. I held my hand over my mouth to try to keep my gasp silent. “I’ve known you for a little over 3 years now. Every day with you brings a new adventure. I know when we first met things weren’t as friendly. Ever since that day I’ve fallen more and more in love you with. From the day I first kissed you I knew that you were different, you were the one for me. You are kind, stubborn as a rock, but gentle as a flower. You are beautiful on the inside and on the outside. Anyone would be lucky to call you their wife, which is what I’m asking you to do today.” Zach let out a small breath before staring into my eyes.
Our eyes never broke contact. Tears were now streaming down my face. Zach opened the black velvet box and inside revealed the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen. “Lena Rose Mercer, will you marry me?” He asked.
I didn’t have any words to say, but actions speak louder than words. I swooped down and planted a kiss on his lips, one full of passion and my love for him. Once I broke away I spoke the most magical words I think I’ve ever said.
Zach jumped up and kissed me fiercely. Softly, snow began to fall down at that time. I looked up as the white snow fell, coating my hair with its flakes. “I love you, Lena,” He said with a smile.
“I love you too Zach. Forever and Always.”
Forever and Always.
