Chapter 6 ~ Trike
Trike was completely taken with the cute blind girl. When she stepped out of the trees, he was shocked. She was short, with long brown hair. Even in the dark, he could see the red highlights throughout it. She was perfect in his eyes, and he struggled with the instant feelings he had for her. He knew immediately why Ali had sent him, and not Dragon. She was trying to set them up.
The poor girl looked terrified, and tears were streaming down her face. He had been shocked when she had allowed him to comfort her, and then collapsed against him. She felt absolutely perfect in his arms, and he didn’t want to let her go.
He was furious when she admitted she fell in the water. She could have drowned. She let him take her to his bike, and had climbed on with complete trust in him. He had taken her cane and strapped it to the side of his bike.
Now her arms were wrapped around him, and her head was resting against his back. They arrived at her apartment way too quickly for his liking. He parked his hog, knocked the kickstand down and climbed off. He took her helmet off first, then grabbed her around the waist and lifted her off. He laughed as she squealed.
Trike took her arm and led her inside, and up the stairs. When they reached the door, he asked her for her keys. She pulled a chain out of her shirt and lifted it over her head, handing it to him. He unlocked the door and made sure to put it back in her hand.
He watched as she moved carefully to the couch, using her cane, then slumped down onto it. “How long have you lived here”, he questioned her.
She glanced in his direction, then told him, “two years, but my roommate keeps rearranging the future, so I can’t memorize it.”
He cursed, as he headed over to her. He made a note to find out more about this roommate later. He sat down next to her slowly, trying not to startle her.
“I need to make sure your okay, but first I wonder if you could change into some shorts and a t-shirt. You’re pretty wet, and I don’t want you to get sick”, he explained.
She nodded and got up, again slowly making her way around the furniture and heading down the hall. While she was gone, he pulled out his phone and called Ali. He explained that he had found her, and they were now at her place. He told her she was wet from falling in the lake, and the knee of her jeans had been ripped, but other than a few scrapes and bruises, she was okay. When he heard Misty coming back, he hung up.
Misty looked cute. She was wearing blue pyjama shorts and an oversized marine t-shirt. When he asked about the t-shirt, she explained about her brother fighting overseas. He had been jealous, but he realized he had jumped to conclusions. He noticed a huge scrape on her knee and some scratches near her feet. The palms of her hands were a bit scratched up too.
She directed him to her bathroom, and Trike came back with the first aid kit she had told him was there. She seemed to be really comfortable with him, so it made it easy for him to take care of her. He cleaned her knee, and covered the cut with gauze. The scratches near her feet weren’t bad, so he just cleaned them and applied some ointment, doing the same with her hands.
He left to put the first aid kit away, then picked up a blanket off her bed. He was surprised to see quite a few boxes in the corner, but decided to leave that one alone. When he came back into the living room, she was fast asleep. He smiled, then picked her up and carried her to her room. She snuggled in and leaned her head on his chest.
Once he had her settled in her bed, he stared at her a minute. He knew already, that this tiny girl was worming her way into his heart. He was going to find more out about the roommate, and he was going to make sure this girl’s life was easier. He had a feeling things were going to get difficult, but that was fine with him. He liked difficult, and he had a feeling this girl would be worth it.
