Chapter 13 - Shadow
Shadow covered Tiffany’s wrists and ankles in Saran Wrap, so they wouldn’t get wet. Then he watched, as she went into the bathroom and shut the door. He really felt for her, and hoped she was going to be alright. In the short amount of time he had known her, he knew already, that he was falling for her.
“Staring at the door isn’t going to make her come out faster”, Sniper said, from his position on the couch.
Shadow just turned his head and glared at his best friend. When he heard the shower start up, he turned and headed for the couch as well, practically falling onto it.
“You already have feelings for the girl”, Sniper observed.
“Yeah”, Shadow admitted. “But she’s been through a lot, and it’s not over yet. Now certainly isn’t the time for that.”
“Nope, and I don’t envy you. But you can’t tell your heart when to fall in love. Besides, that girl in there”, he said as he pointed to the bathroom. “she needs you right now.”
“Yeah”, Shadow said again. “But I think I need her too.” Then he changed the topic. “So what’s the plan, Tiffany needs some rest. She’s having a hard time staying on the bike. She’s tired, she’s hurt, and I don’t think they gave her anything she could eat. She’s not going to make it much longer”, he admitted.
“Right”, Sniper said. “Preacher’s loosing it. I told him about the strangling, and warned him that it looked like she’s been raped. He’s probably torn up the entire clubhouse by now.”
Shadow stared at his brother, pissed he went into such detail. “Why the fuck would you tell him that”, he asked.
“He needs to get over it before she gets there. She’s gonna need her brother, and he can’t go off pissed in front of her”, Sniper said.
“Fuck, okay”, Shadow agreed. “What about the brothers”, he asked.
“They’re still waiting for us down the road. I’m thinking, when she gets out of the bathroom, I go scope the area a bit while she rests. I don’t want to be heading out with her, only to ride right into trouble.”
Shadow nodded at him, as he heard the shower shut off. “That sounds good, but you better be careful. Bull will probably have the whole club looking for us, and you don’t want to be caught out there on your own.”
Sniper smirked at him. “They won’t see me”, he said with complete confidence. “Go check on your girl, while I head out”, he ordered.
Shadow watched as his brother headed out the door, then he headed for the bathroom. He knocked on the door and waited, but Tiffany never opened up. Finally, he just pushed the door open, and walked inside. Tiffany was fully dressed, and staring at her neck in the mirror. She wasn’t crying, but she looked so sad it broke his heart. He spun her around, and pulled her tight to his chest, she immediately clung to him.
“It’s going to be okay baby girl. You’re gonna heal, and you’re gonna be alright. I’ll be by your side, and I’ll help you”, he promised.
Then he took her hand, and led her to one of the bedrooms. He helped tuck her in, and told her to get some rest. She looked so small in the big bed, but he closed over the door, and left the room. He really wanted to stay, but he didn’t want to push her.
Ten minutes later, the door opened again, and out she came. She picked up her pen and paper, and wrote something down, then handed it to him. I want to stay close to you. I’m not scared when you’re there, the note said. He nodded, and moved to the end of the chesterfield, motioning to her to lay down. She did so, without wasting a second, laying her head on his lap.
He hoped she knew that with each gesture she made, she was becoming his. And once she was, there was no way he was letting her go.
