Chapter 15 - Jude
Jude hated Colin before he even stepped foot in the door. The fucker had an air of authority he didn’t like. Jude had so many previous run-ins with the law, that he knew a cop when he saw one. And this ass was definitely one. He decided he’d have to keep a close eye on him.
“So what do you do for a living Colin?” Jude questioned casually, as they were finally sitting down to dinner. May was dishing out plates of spaghetti, and there was a basket of warm bread in the middle of the table. As soon as he asked though May’s head jerked up, and she turned to face Colin.
“I’m in banking,” Colin smoothly answered. “Investments and stocks. And what do you do?” he fucker questioned in return.
Jude shrugged. “Little of this, little of that. Right now I work as a mechanic at The Stone Knight’s compound.”
Colin almost sneered at that answer. “You work on cars.”
Jude hated when people looked down on him. “I fucking do. But I hope to open a garage of my own one day and restore old muscle cars. I don’t get to do that where I am.”
Jude could only chuckle as May jumped up and down in obvious excitement. “Oh my god,” she cried. “I love muscle cars. My brother has an old mustang I’m steal all the time. He always yells at me for taking it but I can’t resist, it’s such a beautiful car.”
Jude stared at her in surprise, then as he watched, her face literally fell. He pushed his chair back and moved towards her.
“Why do you always look so sad when you talk about your brother?” Jude asked, as he wrapped his arms around her.
Jude growled when she looked at Colin before answering. “Don’t look at that ass, look at me,” he ordered impatiently. Immediately her eyes turned straight back to him.
“I’m sorry,” May apologized. “I haven’t seen him in a while and I miss him.”
“And why haven’t you seen him?” Jude questioned.
Colin answered for her. “Long story, and not one we need to get into now. This spaghetti looks great. I’ve missed your cooking.”
May instantly looked pissed. “You’ve hardly ever had my cooking. You were always too busy.”
Colin cleared his throat in embarrassment and shook his head. “Well, I’m not too busy anymore,” he practically snarled.
“Knock it the fuck off and eat your spaghetti,” Jude growled at the man. Then he pulled out May’s chair, helped her sit, and dragged it closer to him.
May giggled as she looked up at him. “It’s going to be hard to eat like this,” she told him.
“Well, you could eat sitting on my lap instead?” Jude offered. He threw back his head and laughed when she actually tilted her head and considered it.
“Okay, maybe that’s not a good idea,” he smirked. “You’ll distract me too much.”
Jude then turned to his plate and dug in. As soon as he swallowed he turned to a May. “Best fucking spaghetti ever,” he declared after he’d swallowed. Then he proceeded to wolf it down. When he looked over at May, and passed her his empty plate, she smiled at him.
“More?” Jude requested. Then her smile got bigger as she filled it again. When he looked over at Colin, it surprised him to see the man’s plate was still half full.
“Quit being a pansy and eat like a man,” Jude teased him. He laughed when Colin narrowed his eyes at him.
After they finished dinner, May cleared the dishes away, then dragged them outside to sit on the front porch. It was still early, and the night was warm. They sat in silence for quite a while until the roar of motorcycles could be heard in the distance. When they looked up, three Harley’s and a truck came down the road.
Jude stood and headed for them, but Colin held May back. “You know them?” he questioned her.
Jude immediately stopped and glared at the man for the hundredth time that evening. “They’re friends of mine,” he growled at the ass. Then he watched as Navaho, Sniper and Raid climbed off the bikes and Dagger climbed out of the truck.
“No,” Dagger complained. “She’s wearing a fucking dress. I miss the tee shirt.”
Jude shook his head as he turned to Colin, but the man was already glaring at May. “You’re moving somewhere else.”
Jude went to yell at the fucker again, but Dagger was faster.
“Fuck that,” he sneered. “She just got here.” Then he turned to May. “Who’s the stuffed shirt in the suit, you need us to make him disappear?”
“Fucking Dagger,” Jude snorted, as May giggled, and Colin looked ready to blow.
