Chapter 4. Waiting Lounge

I arrived at the office and hit the elevator as fast as I can. I know people are staring at me, but I don’t give a damn. I never looked at them so they won’t have an opportunity to open their mouth.

Thank God, the elevator is empty. I pressed the 5th-floor button and leaned comfortably at one of the elevator’s four walls. “Relax, boy.” I talked to myself.

When I reached my floor, I immediately rush towards the locker room and pulled my extra clothes.

My friend Jason laughed loudly when he looked at me. “What’s with the floral shirt, Hardy?”

He asked, and I shook my head. “I attended a costume party with Hailey.” I glared at him and immediately change clothes.

“Our client Dina Stinger is here. She’s in the waiting lounge.” He spoke with sarcasm.

“Freaking slut, what does she wants?” I stomp my feet in anger.

Jason smiled teasingly. “You’re his bodyguard. Weren’t you assigned to keep her safe.”

I slammed my locker's door. “Yeah. Listen, Jason, I’m gonna ask Tom to give me a new assignment.”

“Well, I saw her talking to Tom a while ago.” He responded.

“And?” My heart is hammering wildly.

He furrowed his brows. “Tom is freaking mad, Hard. He was looking for you.”

“Shit, I’m dead.” I cursed.

I walked slowly towards Tom’s office. My hand is rolled into fists as I take my usual stride.

I knocked on his door, and immediately get inside when he’s not responding.

“Harold, Thank God you’re here.” Tom greeted me.

“Hey, Tom. Could I ask for a new assignment? Ms. Stinger is impossible, she’s got attitude problems. I couldn’t stand her.” I explained.

He furrowed his brows and his face turned sour. “Do you want to shut this company down, boy?”

I stepped back when I heard him roar in anger. He hammered his fists on the table and glared at me madly. Tom has gone insane.

He stood up and walk towards me. He’s like a beast fuming in rage. “You screwed her and got her pregnant sicko, and now you’re asking for a reassignment? Do you want me to reassign your damn balls freak?”

“Mother of shits! She told me that she’s taking birth control pills.” I reasoned out.

“Why the hell did you ever slept with her? It’s against the rules.” He folded his arms.

“I know. I’ll sort this out.” I pace up and down.

Tom sighed heavily. “You better. Ms. Stinger is threatening to shut this company down unless you give her what she wants.”

“That bitch. What the hell does she want?” I asked annoyed.

“She wants you to marry her.” He responded with a hint of irony.

My eyes grew wide. “Tom, I can’t do that. I have a girlfriend, Hailey.”

“Great, then all of us will look for another job.” He sat down again.

“I’m sorry Tom, but I’ll talk to her. Everything will be fine.” I reassured him.

He let out a heavy sigh. “You better. I hope you can fix this, boy. She’s in the waiting lounge.”

“I will fix this, but I’m gonna need my reassignment.” I groaned.

He shook his head. “We’ll talk about that once you sort this out.”

I gave him a nod and I immediately head straight to the waiting lounge. Dina can’t be pregnant. I’m sure she’s taking her pills.

As I entered the lounge, she immediately locks the door. The sound of the lock as it snaps alerted my senses.

“Harold, why do you have to end everything between us?” She sobbed.

I glared at her. She's such a drama queen. I can't stand her. “I have a girlfriend, Dina. I’ve decided to fix everything for us.”

“I see. I told tom that I’m pregnant.” She hissed.

“Are you?” I growled in anger.

Her arms were folded on my neck. “No. I just told him that, so I could talk to you.”

I’m relieved. “What do you want from me, Ms. Stinger?”

“I love you, Harold. I mean that. Please don’t put an end to everything that we have. You know that I’m fine that you have a girlfriend. You can still spend some time with her, and some with me. That’s not too much to ask, is it?” She spoke softly while rubbing her bulging chest against my hard torso.

“Dina, I can’t betray her anymore. It’s killing me.” I spoke firmly.

“Okay, then please stay as my bodyguard.” Her fingers are playing with my ears.

“I’m asking for a reassignment.” I choked.

“Do that, and I’m gonna see to it that this company will go bankrupt.” She whispered.

I took a deep breath and thought for a while. “Okay, I’ll stay as your bodyguard.” I raise my hand in surrender. She smiled and hugged me tightly.

“Thank you, Hardy.” She kissed my cheeks.

I pushed her away. “Yeah, but no more hanky panky.”
