Chapter 17: Vampires

I woke up with strong arms around my waist. I snuggled closer to the warmth of Kaden’s arms. “Good morning,” Kaden whispered in my ear. I smiled and looked up at him.

“Morning,” I replied.

I slowly sat up and got off of the bed to go and get something to eat. “Where are you going?” Kaden asked sleepily.

“To get something to eat. I’m starving! I haven’t eaten in like 24 hours or so.” I said. He laughed.

“More like 10 hours.” He said. I took a pillow off the couch and threw it at him, which he easily caught.

“Whatever,” I said walking out of the room and down towards the kitchen. I ignored everyone who tried to talk to me on my way to the kitchen, I didn’t care at the moment, I was really hungry.

When I reached the kitchen I began to make me some bacon, eggs, and pancakes. I felt arms come around my waist. “You do realize that I could kill you right now right?” An unfamiliar voice said from behind me. I was about to scream at the person when they placed a hand over my mouth.

“Shh, princess. We are just going to have a little chat. He took his hand off my mouth and replaced it with a cloth. It took me a moment to realize what he was doing. He was kidnapping me. Wow, being kidnapped within a 3-day span is just fantastic!

“Now, you are going to go to sleep.” Soon enough my eyes drooped shut and I was in total blackness.

~0-o-0~

I woke up tied to a chair. Wow isn’t this ironic. Getting kidnapped and knocked out once more and being tied to a chair! Maybe they talked together and both had the same idea, the vampires, and my ‘parents.’

“Good you’re awake.” the same voice from earlier said. I snapped my eyes up and looked at him. He was pale as a sheet of paper with dark crimson eyes. It was pretty obvious he was a vampire besides his pale skin and dark red eyes. You could see two tiny fangs peeking out from under his lip.

“Yeah so?” I snapped at him. He glared at me.

I realized that he was standing behind metal bars as if to protect himself. So he has contained me. Great!

“Don’t get all smart-ass with me, Alayah Kennedy.” The vampire said. I sighed.

“Whatever, what do you want?” I said to him. He didn’t unlock the cell I was placed in, he kept his distance. “And why does it smell so bad in here?”

The vampire laughed. “Wow, the others were right, you really are a newbie werewolf.”

I growled at him. “And you have yet to answer my questions.”

“What I want is you and why does it smell in here is because one, this place hasn’t been cleaned in ages, and two, that’s you smelling my natural smell.” He explained.

“So you naturally smell like death?” I said to him. He growled at me, flashing his eyes brightly at me as if to warn me.

“You better shut up little girl or you’ll get what’s coming to you.” He said. I rolled my eyes.

“Sure, whatever. So why do you need me here?” I asked a little confused as to why the vampires were hunting me.

I mean what have I done to upset them, I didn’t know they existed until a few days ago. “We are here because we want to know if you are a hybrid or not.” He clarified.

I laughed. “Yes I’m a hybrid, but what does that have to do with anything?” I said.

He looked interested in what I had to say after that. “It has to do with everything!” He shouted at me, his eyes flashing red once more.

I looked at him confused. “Like what?” I asked.

“Those wolves haven’t taught you anything have they?” He asked.

“What do you mean?” I said.

“A hybrid is very powerful! They are faster and stronger than the average werewolf. They could kill someone in a matter of minutes, maybe even seconds. If you’re out of the picture, then there is no more threat.” He explained.

Wow. I really do feel dumb, but I’m not going to show it. “Why can’t you just leave me alone. Hell, why can’t anyone just let me live in peace? First, my own fucking parents kidnap me and now the lone vampire kidnaps me as well! It’s been a very eventful 3 days, but I think I’d like to leave.” I snapped.

The vampire laughed, it was heavy and forced. “Sorry cupcake, but you aren’t going anywhere. So don’t even think about contacting your precious mate, because I’ll tell you now, he isn’t going to find you so easily.”

“Why not?” I questioned him, trying to get some answers out of him as much as I can.

“Because we’ve drugged you and therefore you will not be able to contact him. You can still talk to your wolf, but that’s it. If you try to contact him,” He paused for a second then smiled. “well, you’ll just have to find out that one for yourself.”

He left the room after that. I leaned my head back against the cair. ”Cassie?” I called out trying to get her to answer.

“Alayah, are you okay?” She answered immediately.

“Yes I’m fine, a little sore, but fine,” I replied to her. ”Did that vampire do anything to you?” I asked her, worried out of my mind.

“No, not like your parents did. I’m perfectly fine and strong, but I can see you are not.” She said.

I sighed. “No, I’m not fine. I can’t contact Kaden and therefore he has no way of rescuing me. The vampire said that if I tried I’d find out why I shouldn’t contact him.”

“Alayah, it’s okay. Everything will be fine, Kaden will come and rescue us! I plan on it! He loves you! He wouldn’t just leave you just because you’ve been kidnapped. Again.”

“Gee, thanks,” I said sarcastically.

Kaden’s P.O.V

As I get up to follow Alayah, Kyle runs into the room. “Alpha. The vampire is gone.” He said to me.

“What!” I said to him pissed off. “What do you mean he is gone!”

“He escaped us, we had them and then it’s like they disappeared. We can’t track them either.” Kyle said.

“So you are telling me, these vampires are here causing damage and you don’t know where they are?” I said to him.

“Yes,” Kyle responded. I slammed my hand down on Alayah’s dresser out of anger.

Alayah! I pushed passed Kyle, who was hot on my trail behind me and ran down the stairs to look for Alayah.

“Alpha what’s wrong?” A guy named Thomas asked me, but I ignored him and kept on walking towards the kitchen.

When I entered I found food on the stove, but no Alayah. Where the hell did she go?

I looked everywhere in the kitchen when I spotted a note on the counter.

Alpha Kaden Bates,

We have Alayah with us. Right now we have no intention of harming her but we will harm her if she does something against our wishes. You will not be able to track her for a while I might add. We’ve drugged her so she can’t contact you at all. Good luck finding us pretty boy, we’ll be waiting. Oh and don’t forget, you’ve got 2 days to rescue her or she dies. Have fun playing.

~Reed Walker

I crumbled up the piece of paper and threw it on the floor. “They have her,” I growled out. Kyle and Thomas looked at me a little confused.

“The vampires have her.”
