Chapter 19: Reunite

I ran as far as I could. No way was I going to let Meria catch up to me. “Alayah I can smell you. I’m coming.” Kaden said in my mind.

“Good,” I replied. “I hate being away from- I mean I hate being kidnapped.”

I could picture Kaden with a smirk on his face. “You hate being away from me huh?” Kaden said correcting my previous sentence. A blush spread across my face.

“No!” I shouted at him.

I stopped for a moment smelling scents all around me. I finally caught Kaden’s scent. Pine and mints. I ran towards him.

“You can’t get away from me that easily Alayah!” Meria’s voice shouted from behind me.

“You’ll be dead before you know it Meria. I don’t trust you!” I shouted at her.

I could hear her laughing from behind me. “Why would you? You just met me!” She snapped at me.

I rolled my eyes. I focused on what was in front of me. I scanned all around me until I noticed something running towards me. More like a few somethings. Kaden!

I stopped as they kept running towards me. Many ran past me towards Meria. “Kaden!” I said running to his familiar wolf.

I tackled him with all of my strength and managed to knock him over. I ran my hands over the top of his furry head. “It’s about time you got here you furry ass,” I said laughing.

I turned around when I heard howling as if someone was in pain. I quickly scanned the crowd of wolves and saw one down in pain. “Oh hell no! No one messes with my pack and gets away with it!” I shouted and thought of becoming my wolf. I thought of the fur color and how big my furry head was.

Soon enough my bones cracked and rearranged themselves. Hair sprouted out and soon enough I was my wolf. “Alayah, do you know what you are doing?” Kaden asked me.

“No, but you only have 1 life, so might as well take some risks,” I said before charging towards Meria. She laughed at me. It was me against her. Everyone else had backed off a bit, but were ready to charge if I got hurt.

“Silly little Alayah. Think you can out beat me. Even if you are a hybrid. Pathetic really considering I’m stronger than you are even if you are stronger than any wolf here. Even your precious Alpha over there is weaker than you are.” Meria taunted.

I growled at her. No one messes with my family. No matter how tough they may be. I charged at her at full speed. She swiftly moved out of the way causing me to run into a bush. Stupid branches.

I shook my head and hopped back out of the bush and glared at her as best as I could in my wolf form. Let me tell you, it was very difficult. I approached Meria never taking my eyes off of her. “What are you going to do wolfy? Hmm?” She taunted. I let out a low growl in warning that she better shut her lips.

I kicked off my hind legs and took off racing towards her. I’ll show her what I can do. I jumped up and pounced on her, staring right at her face. She looked at me with wide eyes. “I dare you.” She said, spitting in my face.

“Alayah, you are not this type of person,” Kaden said.

“Maybe I am,” I whispered to him. “Maybe this is my destiny.”

“Alayah, we’ll take it from here.” He said. I didn’t move from where I was on top of Meria when someone nudged me off of her. “Go south towards the pack home. Maggie and Kayleigh are waiting for you there. I’ll be there soon.” Kaden’s voice filled my ears.

I sent one more growl towards Meria before running off in the direction that Kaden told me to go in. Next time, the person who attacks is mine.

It took me a good hour before reaching the pack house. I knew the other wolves were about 15 minutes behind me, but that gave me plenty of time to change and greet them.

“Thank goodness you are alright Alayah,” Kayleigh said as I came down the stairs fully dressed. I heard the others just now returning.

“Yeah, I’m grateful too. Wow, being kidnapped within a 3-4 day period sure is thrilling.” I said laughing. Kayleigh laughed along with me.

The front door opened and the wolves began to pile in, well it seemed the male wolves did anyway because once again, they didn’t have any fucking clothes on! I marched right up to them, not looking at them below the waist at all.

“Seriously!” I shouted getting their attention. They all looked at me confused. “Can’t you guys put some clothes on before coming in here? I mean it’s not that hard for pete sake!” They all looked at me surprised.

I crossed my arms glaring at every single one of them. “Please go put some fucking clothes on before I ban you all from the pack house!” I said to them. I heard someone laugh and I flew my gaze over to Kaden. I glared at him the hardest. “You too Kaden! You’ll be the first one to go!”

“But who would sleep with you at night?” Cassie asked.

“Ugh! I don’t care right now, Cassie!” I said to her.

“Like you can do anything to us, sweetheart.” Kaden mocked me. He sent a smirk in my direction.

I marched right up to him, glaring at him the whole way. The others had surrounded us, waiting for my reaction. “Want a bet?” I said to him.

“What are your wagers princess?” Kaden said crossings his arms.

“Either you guys put on fucking clothes or us girls will go out clubbing. You know, with very hot and attractive men all around us. They will be dancing with us all steamy and drunk and did I mention hot?” I said with a smirk on my face.

I scanned the crowd and many of them looked angry and pissed at my words. Taking their mates out to dance with other guys. Kaden looked very pissed as well.

He grabbed my hand and spun me around. He pulled me close to his body, my back against his chest. “I wouldn’t think of doing that sweetheart unless you want a lot of angry males on your trail.” He whispered in my ear. “And I wouldn’t do anything to stop them either.”

I froze at how close we were. “Oh? So you wouldn’t protect your precious mate, who is being chased by a bunch of males around the city? I see how it is.” I said before breaking from his grasp and ran up the stairs.

I wasn’t angry at him. I’m just toying with his emotions to see how he really feels. As soon as I was about to shut the bedroom door Kaden came busting in. “I’m sorry Alayah.” He said pulling me into a hug. Thank goodness he put on some pants.

He pulled away, but his hands were still around my waist. “I didn’t mean to hurt you down there.” He said. I couldn’t contain it anymore and I started laughing. He looked at me confused.

“I can’t believe you fell for it!” I said laughing so hard my sides began to hurt. Kaden didn’t release his grip. “I was messing with you Kaden. I’m not angry with you.” I said to him. He stared at me in shock as if he didn’t expect this.

“So you tricked me?” He said running one of his hands through his hair. I felt the warmth of his hand leave my body when he did that.

“Yep,” I said. “And it totally worked.”

He spun me around and had my back against his chest once more. “Now, don’t think you can boss me around sweetheart. I’m still the Alpha here.” He clarified. I chuckled.

“Yeah, well I’m also Alpha of this pack. I can do whatever I want.” I said. He smirked looking down at me and I looked right back at him. Our eyes didn’t look away from one another’s.

Panic rose in my eyes and I quickly untangled myself from Kaden. “Uh. yeah.” I said before walking over to the bed. “I’m tired I’m going to get some sleep,” I told him.

He cleared his throat. “Yeah, I bet you are. Good night Alayah.” Kaden said and was about to leave the room when I called him back in.

He looked at me confused when I called him. “I never said I wanted you to leave. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep without you knowing those vampires could come back at any time.” I said truthfully. I didn’t seem to have to tell him twice because before I knew it we were both on the bed.

I didn’t bother to cover up with the sheets, the heat from his body was enough. “Good night. Alayah.” Kaden said as he pulled me close to his chest. His hands were wrapped around my waist and I buried my head in his chest to try and hide my blush.

“Good night, Kaden.”
