Chapter 23:: Pack Updates

I had no words to say when Maggie pulled me away from Kaden and up into our room. She quickly shut and locked the door.

“What was that?” She said smirking. I laid back on my bed.

“What do you mean?” I said trying my best to avoid the question. I didn’t want to answer any.

She sat down on the edge of the bed. “You know what I’m talking about. Do I have to spell it out for you?” She asked. I didn’t say a word. “You and Kaden kissed.”

I sighed. “So?” I said as if it didn’t matter. Even though it mattered a lot. This is the second time this had happened and so I’m really confused about everything.

“So? That’s all you got. Leah! You guys fucking kissed and now you think it’s no big deal.” She blew up.

I balled my hands up into fists. “Yes! I think it’s a big deal okay! That’s the second time that has happened between us okay.“I said to her. She looked at me shocked.

“You mean you’ve kissed him already and you didn’t tell anyone.” She said.

“Yes, Maggie. That’s what I’m saying.” I told her. “I’m also saying to stay out of it, please. I need to figure it out on my own okay?” I begged.

“Okay, I’ll stay out of it, but if you two aren’t a couple by the end of this trip, we are going to be having a long talk,” Maggie said. “now come on, the meeting starts in two hours”

Maggie grabbed my hand and shoved me into the bathroom. “Now take a shower and I’ll pick out your clothes then do your hair.”

I laughed. “Maggie it’s not like I’m going to a dance,” I told her through the door.

“Oh, I guess we forgot to mention that,” Maggie said.

“Wait, what! There’s a fucking dance? I don’t dance and more importantly, I don’t wear dresses.” I said to her.

“Well too bad Leah, you’ve got to. It’s part of the rules.” She explains. “Now shower.”

I did as she told me too. When I got out I wrapped myself good in a towel before I decided to contact Kaden. “What the hell!” I shouted at him.

“What’s wrong?” Kaden asked worriedly.

“What didn’t you tell me there was a dance?” I asked him as I slipped on the shirt and pants on my body that Maggie had put in there for me.

“You didn’t ask?” He said that as I question.

“Kaden!” I shouted. “I’m not going to a stupid dance and more importantly I’m not wearing a dress.”

“Alayah, I’m sorry that we didn’t tell you. I guess I kind of forgot about it until you mentioned it.” He said. “Usually Dean and I go out and get drunk during that time, which doesn’t really last that long.”

I finally finished getting dressed and walked out into the room. “Yay! Time for me to do your hair, because, girl, it needs some work.” Maggie said pulling me down onto the bed.

“Whatever Kaden.” I mind linked to him because I wanted this conversation to be over, which thankfully it was.

“Gee thanks,” I said to Maggie as she began to curl my hair into big waves.

“No one is going to be able to take their eyes off of you after they see you in this. Especially Kaden.” Maggie said smirking. I rolled my eyes.

“Sure Maggie,” I responded.

Soon enough she was done and the meeting was in 15 minutes. “Come on, let’s go.” She said taking my hand in hers and dragging me out the door and down the hallway. We walked down the steps in silence. We found both Kaden and Dean waiting on us in the lobby.

“I can see you guys took your sweet precious time,” Dean said smirking.

I smirked back at him. “Blame her,” I said pointing to Maggie. “I swear I didn’t need 2 hours to get ready, but Ms. Perky Pants over here insisted that it took that long. I could have been fine with a t-shirt and jeans!” I threw my arms up in the air.

“Sorry, Ms. I don’t know how to dress fancy like.” Maggie snapped at me.

I rolled my eyes. “Can we go already? I really want to get this over with.” I said.

“Follow us.” Kaden and Dean said at the same time. We complied and followed them as requested. Soon enough we were led to a huge dining room. Chairs everywhere and people were already taking their seats.

“We are over here,” Kaden says and walks over to the place with our pack name on it.

I walk over there and sit beside Kaden which Maggie sat beside me and Dean sat on her other side.

“So all this, is just a meeting to catch up on what has happened in other packs?” I questioned Kaden.

“Yep, pretty much,” Kaden told me. “The most boring part I’ll tell you that.”

I was about to ask another question when someone at the head of the table tapped their glass getting everyone’s attention. “It’s great to have you all here.” the man I was introduced to early named Alpha Lean said. “For us all to be in one place, no feuds, even though I know there are some.”

Some of the packs chuckle in agreement to this statement. “However, tonight isn’t about fighting, it’s about telling us what had happened in the last year in your packs.”

“I’ll go first.” a very familiar voice said.

“That’s fine Alpha Kennedy.” I froze on the spot when Alpha Lean said that name.

“Alayah?” I heard a voice say, I wasn’t sure who it was, but I couldn’t focus at the moment. I didn’t care who was watching I stood up and walked over to my ‘father’ and looked him up in down in disgust.

“You might want to mention how you kidnapped your own fucking ‘daughter!’” I shouted at him. “Or is that not worth mentioning?”

He looked at me in shock. No one said a word, the entire room had gone silent. I don’t know if he was shocked that I was here or that I yelled at him.

“Leah, let me explain.” He said.

I didn’t give him a chance. “No. You’re not going to explain anything to me. I’m old enough to make my own choices like you did to me when I was 3.” I snapped.

“You are too young Leah! Only 16. You aren’t supposed to be here for one, and two, you are too young to have a mate at all let alone rule an entire pack!” He protested. I glared at him, hard.

“You don’t know anything about me!” I said wanting to jump on him and rip his head off. Okay, maybe not that far. I glanced over at Kaden, he had a small smile on his face. Proudness showed through him. I’m glad he felt that way at this moment.

“Leah,” Alpha Lean said from behind me. I turn and looked at him.

“What!” I said a little-pissed off.

“I think you need to take a seat, this isn’t the time for this matter.” He said.

I sighed. “No. Sorry, Alpha Lean. It is time for this. If you want someone to tell you what’s been going on, then I’ll tell you right now from my perspective.” I told him.

I turned and faced the crowd before me. Everyone’s eyes were on me, waiting for me to speak. “I didn’t know about werewolves about 2 months ago. All I know is that I found my aunt, who is now dead thanks to those stupid bloodsuckers, in the woods as a wolf. She tried to explain to me, but I wouldn’t listen and I ran away.”

I took a breath before continuing. No one said a word at my testimony. “There I met three wolves. I had accidentally run into their territory without knowing it. Which by the way really needed to put on some clothes I swear all of you male wolves need to do that!” I flashed a smile towards Kaden and Dean. I got a few chuckles out of the crowd, mainly the women.

“Without them taking me with them, I wouldn’t know what I actually am. I met my match there. Someone who challenged me and I liked that. Of course, when I got the chance I ran away trying to get back to my aunt, but that didn’t work out so well considering the wolves who had taken be ended up finding me again.”

“I ended up staying with them and finding out what I actually was. I actually shifted for the first time too. Until I heard news of my aunt and boy was I angry. I wanted to kill every living bloodsucker on this planet!” I proclaimed.

“Then my so-called parents kidnapped me!” I said pointing them out. Many faces glanced back and forth, trying to see the resemblance. “They kept saying that I was too young to have a mate, that I couldn’t lead a pack. Sometimes the truth is better than anything. I’m different.” I stated.

“More different than you may think. I don’t know if my ‘father’ knows this or not, but here it goes.” I said taking a dramatic pause. “I’m not fully a werewolf. I’m half human half werewolf.” I said.

Many people gasp at what I just said. They didn’t think it was possible, oh boy they are looking at proof now. I looked over at my ‘father’. His mouth was hanging open, shocked. My ‘mother’ was crying beside him knowing that her secret was exposed.

“If you want to test my DNA then do it. I don’t care. Oh and let me also mention those stupid fucking bloodsuckers on hunting me. For what I don’t know, but it has to do with my DNA I think. They think that my blood can do something.”

I turned and looked at Alpha Lean. He looked as shocked as everyone else. “Well, thanks for letting me speak, but I’m going to go up to my room now,” I said before hurrying out of the room as quickly as possible, tears slipping down my cheek as I went. I didn’t want anyone following me, especially now. I hated crying in front of people.

I opened the room door and slammed it shut behind me. I threw myself onto the bed and cried like I’ve never cried before. The tears that flowed down my cheeks were like a river down a mountain.

Why did they have to be here? Why did I even come? I should have stayed back at the pack house.

“Alayah open the door.” Kaden’s voice said from behind the locked door.

“Go away!” I shouted back at him. “I just want to be alone right now.”

“Alayah, you’ll feel better if you talk about it.” He protested.

I got up off the bed and walked over to the door. When I turned the knob a sharp click was heard and I opened the door. Kaden stood in front of it. “Kaden, please,” I said to him.

He pulled me into a hug, which I really needed. “I’m not going anywhere, baby.” He whispered to me. More tears slipped down my face.

“What are they going to do about my father?” I asked him.

“Tomorrow we discuss rules, things that need to be changed within the pack. There you can try to change the rules about you becoming a Luna even though you are only 16 and about how parents should let their kids choose whether they want to stay with them until they are 16 or whatever age you want to set.” He said laughing a bit.

A small smile was on my face. “Thanks, Kaden,” I said.

“Anything for you,”
