Chapter 47

Abby’s P.O.V

“-so then I ended up somewhere north of Iowa naked with ranch all over me and a small angry man chasing me.” After the very awkward breakfast encounter earlier I went back to my room to lay down for a little bit longer. That lasted for about five minutes before Liam burst into my room because he apparently didn’t have anyone else to talk to. As of right now he’s telling me about his conquests while everyone thought he was missing, hence the reason I’m listening to him talk about ranch and short men.

“Am I s-supposed to b-believe that?” I ask laughing at him as he makes himself comfortable in the chair across from the bed I’m sitting in.

“It would help my self esteem a lot if you said that you did,” he shrugs and I tilt my head at him curiously. He sure had been acting weird lately, he never used to even tolerate talking to me and here he is now talking my ear off.

Before I can say anything about it, the door swings open and Becca walks into the room with a bright smile on her face.

“Hey best friend,” she says to me skipping over towards the bed and sitting next to me. She looks up and seems a little bit shocked as soon as she sees Liam sitting in the chair comfortably.

“I meant to talk to you earlier!” She exclaims before getting up and walking over to him. She slaps the back of his head and looks at him angrily. “Where the hell have you been? You couldn’t have at least told someone before you ran off to do God knows what?”

Liam just shrugs and looks up at her smugly.

She groans before looking back over towards me.

“So how’s life been treating you?” She asks me. I just shrug and she arches an eyebrow at me.

“I know you’re stuck here and everything but seriously? There’s nothing’s you wanna tell me at all. No new hot steamy romance moment you had with Scott that you wanna tell me about?”

I flinch a little bit when I hear her say Scott’s name. I don’t think I’m ready to face that battle yet. Relationships and schizophrenia doesn’t seem to be mixing quite well for me right now.

“What’re you doing here Becs?” Liam asks tugging on Becca’s shirt sleeve.

“You thought I was going to miss the Rogers reuniting? You must forget that I’m friends with Falon too.”

“Sometimes a little too friendly with Falon,” I hear Liam mutter sarcastically. But if Becca hears it, she doesn’t choose to acknowledge it.

What has Falon been up to?

“I was just coming to check up on you Abs,” Becca says smiling over at me before digging into that satchel that she always seems to carry around with her. She walks over towards me and pulls out a book, handing it to me.

“Just in case you get bored talking with that brainless idiot over there,” she say pointing at Liam. I look at the book and see that she’s handed me a copy of ′Eleanor and Park’. I know it’s one of her favorite books because she’s read it so many times but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I smile up at her great fully and she surprises me by hugging me before leaving the room.

I look over at Liam who’s still lounging in the chair even though he obviously could have left already.

“You know even though she can be really bitchy,” Liam says staring up at the ceiling. “She cares about all of us a lot. That’s why she acted like you were dying.”

Almost as soon as he finished saying that the door flies open again and behind it stands a very tired looking Scott.

I glare at him as soon as he walks into the room and I see him flinch a little bit. He looks over at Liam who is comfortably sitting in the chair at the desk and looks confused for a moment before looking back at me.

“Can I talk to Abby alone for a second?” As soon as he says that I internally begin to freak out. I am not ready to talk to him alone yet.

“Can he?” Liam looks over at me with a bored look on his face. I just stare back at him not being able to form words. I don’t wanna feel like a birch for telling Scott that I don’t wanna talk to him alone but then again maybe I should make him feel as bad as I felt when I saw those pictures.

“Liam just get out,” Scott says glaring over towards Liam.

“I will as soon as Abby tells me too,” he says and I don’t know if he’s staying because he wants to heart under Scott’s skin or because he can see me pleading with him in my eyes but I’m thankful he hasn’t gotten up to leave yet.

“Abby?” Scott says looking back over towards me.

“He c-can stay,” I say and he looks lost for words. He looks between Liam and I a couple of times.

“I thought you two hated each other,” he says narrowing his eyes at me. “Since when did you two become so close.”

“Since when did you make out with random girls in clubs?” Liam asks still looking bored about the whole situation. Did I tell Liam about that already? God, all of this is really starting to give me a head ache.

“Don’t make me punch you Liam,” Scott says and I know that this is about to get out of hand because both Scott and Liam are assholes so this can’t go anywhere good. “Just get the fuck out.”

“No Scott y-you leave,” I say shaking my head at him. I don’t know what’s going on with him but whatever it is isn’t something that I like. Maybe me being in his life is just too stressful. Maybe my parents were right and we just need to end this.

“You’re choosing him?” Scott hissing staring at me with wide eyes.

“I’m n-not choosing a-anyone!” I nearly shout at him.

“Abby we can work this out if you’d just-”

“W-what?” I ask cutting him off. “My parents w- were right Scott. I j-just c-can’t do all of t-this right now. I’m schizophrenic, I’m p-pretty sure my crazy ex is h-haunting me and I ran out last n-night and got d-drunk. I’m not exactly emotionally st-stable. I just can’t d-deal with you r-right now.”

“I’m not going to stop,” he says determinedly looking down at the ground before staring at me again.

“Stop w-what?”

“This,” he says pointing between me and him. “I made a stupid mistake and I’m not even that kind of person. It’s just...gotten to be a lot lately. But I’m gonna prove to you that I’m better.”

“Than w-who?” I wonder who else there could be that he’s talking about.

“Doesn’t matter,” he says looking over at Liam for a long ten second before leaving the room.

“Well didn’t that just make me feel all tingly inside,” Liam says placing a hand over his heart and sighing sarcastically.

“Shut up,” I shake my head at him and he stands up and walks over towards the bed and gets on his knees. I stare down at him confused as he sucks underneath the bed to search something. Finally he resurfaced with a backpack.

“This was Scott and my secret stash for whenever I came over,” he says placing it on the bed. “I figured why not use it now. I hope you like Call Of Duty and snacks.”

So that’s how I spent the rest of my afternoon. Playing Call Of Duty and eating food with Liam. What a surprise.
