Loverboy [Version I]

He was in love, he knew

He knew from the point he saw her,

Staring at the beautiful sky above her,

Her face shining serene

In the moonlit night.

From the point he spotted her,

He knew it was her or none;

He knew when he saw her,

That she was the best thing

That’d ever happened to him.

She looked lovely,

With the flowing blue gown

That adorned her being

And the white earrings

That lit up her face bright.

He wanted to talk to her,

Get to know her better than he did last,

But he didn’t have the strength…

Not yet.

He kept staring at her dark form,

Drinking in her sight,

As though

He wanted to remember it

For eternity.

“Go on ahead”,

Prodded his heart,

“You know she’s the soul of your dreams,

The diamond of your heart,

And the voice of your essence.

Go on ahead

And fulfil your wish.

All she’d do is turn you down.

But, you’re not worth turning down anyway,”

Added that vile inner voice of his.

Thus encouraged, he approached her,

But saw the smile on her face and knew –

Knew that she had seen him hesitate.

The sight was an embarrassment for him,

But he never once stopped himself.

When he was finally close enough,

She turned around

And he could see her flushed face

Just like his.

He gave her a smile

He never knew he was capable of,

And she smiled back

The same dazzling smile

That always defined her.

The next few minutes,

He only saw the stars, the Heavens,

And that lovely sweet face in front of him.

She was the perfect definition of his happiness,

Of that he was sure.

He knew that he’d never find anybody else

Quite like her

On this planet.

For, she was the Princess

Who finally got her happiness back.
