Chapter Seventeen: Ghost and Fight

The past year had been a lonely one, Kyle has been away a lot and Katie has been adjusting to married life and a baby, so I haven't really seen any of my friends as much as I wanted to over the last year. I've been spending a lot of time with Clara and Marie, just going shopping or just spending the day out somewhere, as well as starting a new job in a nursery near the apartment I'm supposed to be sharing with Kyle, but for obvious reasons he had to go away a lot.

It was January 8th 2016, 10:30PM, and I was currently watching an episode of Supernatural, I was waiting up for Kyle to come home from the set.

I had been waiting for about 45 minutes since the last text that I had gotten from Kyle at 9:30PM, to say that he should be finished by 11PM, when suddenly the T.V and lamp started to flicker and the woman from down in the reception area, Cathleen, appeared in front of me.

"Rosetta, I need your help"

"Of course, what do you need me to do" I smiled at her, and muted the T.V.

"I need you to find my fiancée for me"

"Okay, just let me get my laptop and you can give me the details"

"Thank you" she smiled at me, and then sat down on the sofa as I stood up and headed into the bedroom to grab my laptop off the bed, and waited for it to load as I headed back into the living room, and sat back down next to Cathleen.

"Okay," I said, as I opened up the internet tab, "What is his full name, his date and place of birth?"

"His full name is David Paul Wall, he was born here in Cardiff and his birthday is 7th April 1955"

I typed as she spoke, and then clicked enter.

"So he should be about 61 now"

"Yes, it's been almost thirty years since I was killed"

I looked over at her, surprised.

"You were murdered, downstairs?"

"Yes, as I was leaving to meet up with Dave at a park just around the corner, we always met there when we wanted some time alone"

"Wow, I'm sorry"

"It's Okay, I've had almost thirty years to get over it, so don't worry"

I smiled at her sympathetically, before turning back to the computer to see the results.

There was a variety of results, some had no relation to what I was looking for, but there was one, at the end of the page, it was about a 29 year old man, who was hit by a car, right outside the park that was around the corner, he died on impact. It went on the say that it was later found out that his fiancée was also found around the corner at her apartment building, and had been stabbed to death in the reception area, it was thought that they were meeting up at the park. There were a few more details involving David's murder, the car that had hit him hadn't stopped, but was later found, in a ditch, the owner of the car was dead, caused by a trauma to the head, and they bleed out, and three of the four guys who had killed Cathleen were found and sent down for life.

"I'm sorry" I said to Cathleen, she had been reading the report over my shoulder.

I could tell from the look on her face that she was about the give up. "Wait Cathleen, don't give up yet I think there's still another way to find him"

"How?" she asked, looking up at me, hopeful.

"Well it says here that he was hit by the park, and he died on scene, not in a hospital"

"So what are you saying?"

"That there is a chance that his spirit may still be here, he may not know that you are dead too, because they happened on the same day"

"So...?"

"So, he may be waiting for you at the park, it's right next to his place of death, so it's his source of energy, and you said that you always met him there, right?"

"Yeah, so you think he may be there?"

I looked at the time and saw that I still had at least 30 minutes before Kyle got home.

"It's worth a try, and if we hurry I can be back before Kyle" I got up as I finished speaking and placed my laptop on the table, closed it and then grabbed my coat on the way out of the apartment.

"Thank you, Rose"

"Don't thank me yet, let's find David first"

And then we both left the apartment building and headed to the park.

We reached the parked 15 minutes later, and Cathleen led me over to a bench about half way into the park, claiming that this was where they would always sit and wait for each other.

"Okay, so what do we do now?" Cathleen asked me, after we had been sat for a few minutes.

"You could try calling out to him, that has worked before"

"Alright" she then took a deep breath, one that she didn't need, and started calling out for David.

She gave up after shouting for 5 minutes, and turned to look at me, "I don't think this is going to work"

"Yes it is Cathleen, just wait"

"I don't think I can any more" She was starting to fade away, so I quickly spoke to her.

"Cathleen wait, look" I then pointed behind her, where a dark figure was walking towards us.

She stopped fading and became fully visible again, as she looked behind her and recognised the person who had just walked into my line of sight, and I realised who he from the picture that I had seen on my laptop earlier.

"David!" she called as she jumped up from her seat next to me and started heading for David.

"Cathleen!" David called back to her, and started to run towards her. They meet half way, wrapping their arms around each other, David lifted Cathleen up into the air, and I saw a light start to surround them, so I stood up and headed towards them.

"Guys, it's both of your times now"

"Thank you for your help Rose" Cathleen said to me, stepping away from David, and turning to me, as they held hands.

"Yes, thank you Rose, for bringing my Love back to me" David added, and then they both started to fade, but I still had a few seconds to speak.

"There's no need to thank me, you both deserved to find each other"

They both smiled at me one last time, before there was a flash of light and they were gone, at the same time that a down pour of rain hit me. I quickly pulled my hood up and pulled my coat tighter around me as I started to run back towards the apartment.

I got back to the apartment not even ten minutes later, but Kyle was already home, pacing the hallway on his phone.

"Yeah, Yeah, I know, I just-" he stopped talking when he spotted me taking off my coat and quickly spoke into his phone, "She's here, thanks though" he then hung up and ran over to me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me tightly into his chest.

"Where have you been? I was worried when I got home and you weren't here."

"I'm sorry, I was helping the ghost from downstairs, you remember I told you about her?" he nodded, and I continued, "I was helping her cross over, I thought I would be back before you got home"

"Well you could have at least left me a note or text me, before you left, I was calling everyone to see if they had heard from you"

"I'm sorry Kyle, I've already told you"

"I know, I'm sorry, I just had a stressful evening"

"It's Okay, what happened in work, is everything alright?"

"I'm not sure, I met up with my manager and lawyer this afternoon"

"Okay, what did they want to talk to you about, is it another film?"

"Um no, let's go sit down and I'll explain everything" He took my hand and led me into the living room, where he sat, on the sofa, and then pulled me into his lap before finishing what he was saying, after he wrapped his arms back my waist and rested his hands on my hip.

I first noticed that the T.V was no longer on and the clock in the kitchen, as I glanced that way, it was almost midnight, I had been out longer than I thought.

"They want us to go public with our relationship before we get married, so that the media finds out sooner rather than later"

"Okay then, what did you tell them?"

"That I needed to talk to you first, and I'll get back to them tomorrow"

"Well, let's do it then, I knew that when we got together that there was a possibility that you would become a hit and that the media were going to stick their noses into your business and find out about me, it's unavoidable"

"But Rose, I don't want for them to find out now and then, if we ever have any children, I don't want them, or us, to never have a moment to ourselves"

"If that's what you think, then why did you ever get into acting, or into a relationship with me, it's kind of a given that you will be constantly be surrounded by the media and fan girls, who all want to know every little thing about your life"

"You know why I became an actor, I have always loved preforming in front of people, and I'm with you because I love you and I don't want you to leave me if things get to stressful because of the media."

I moved to sit next to him, and ignored his struggles to pull me back into his lap, he sighed and then ran his hands through his hair.

"So, you think that my love for you is so weak, that it could crumble so easily? I don't care if the media stick their noses into our business, I knew what I was getting into when I started to date you, I knew what your dreams were and I was with you every step of the way, I went with you to auditions and I was with you when you heard back from each producer, I encouraged you to follow your dreams, I didn't try to stop you!"

I paused to take a deep breath, and then continued before he could, he had stood during my speech and was pacing around in front of me, "But if you think that my love for you will crumble so quickly and that I would leave you, then you obviously don't know me at all!"

I stood, and I could tell that he was starting to panic, "Rosie, wait please, don't be like this, I'm just trying to protect us."

"Don't 'Rosie' me, it'll be worse in a few years if we have children!" I left the room, with Kyle right behind me, and I grabbed his coat, because his was longer than mine and my coat was still soaked,

"If you want me I'll be at Katie's."

And then I headed out of the apartment, slamming the door behind me, and then headed towards Katie's and Miles' house, calling her as I did. I knew it was late, but she might be up with Ila, because she was teething.

"Hello?" Katie answered a few rings later, tiredly.

"Katie," I said as I tried to hold back the tears.

"Rose? What's wrong?"

"Can I stay with you tonight?"

"Yes, of course, is everything alright?"

"No, I'll explain when I get there."

"Okay honey, stay safe, I'll see you soon"

"Okay, bye"

I woke up the next day, and reached over to Kyle, only to be met with air, I frowned and then my eyes shot open when everything from last night hit me.

Katie had been waiting for me when I got to hers, she was stood in the door way and as soon as she saw my tear stained face, she ushered me into the house and into the living room, where she had laid out a smaller pair of her PJ's, a pillow, and a blanket.

I had cried to her, as I explained the argument that me and Kyle had gotten into, before I fell asleep on her shoulder at around three am.

The first thing I heard when I focused on everything around me, I heard Ila making sounds in the kitchen, along with someone who was obviously making breakfast, because I could hear pans and plates being moved around.

I slowly sat up and then folded the blanket that I was using and placed the pillow on top, and both of them on the arm of the sofa and then headed into the kitchen, only to almost turn back around, but he noticed me.

"Rose wait" Kyle called out to me, putting the bowl with dry cereal in front of Ila, and then grabbed a hold of my wrist gently.

"Kyle, let go of me, I don't want to talk to you right now, just give me some time, Okay?"

I pulled my hand out of his and then headed back out of the kitchen, and walked straight into Katie and Miles.

"You called him, didn't you?" I looked at Miles.

"Yes, but you guys need to sort this out"

"And we will, when your best friend comes to his senses"

"Thank you for bringing Ila down Kyle" Katie said to him, as she looked at me sternly, she wanted us to work this out, and fast.

I sighed and turned to Kyle as both Katie and Miles walked past us and into the kitchen, where Ila was chattering loudly, and probably throwing the cereal everywhere.

"Have you come to your senses yet?"

"Kind of."

"Well come back when you have completely."

"No, just wait one minute Rose, we need to talk about this."

"No we d-" I was cut off by Kyle's arms wrapping tightly, but not painfully, around me, pulling me against his chest and he then pushed his lips against mine, stopping me from speaking, and so that I couldn't push away from him either.

Finally after a few seconds, and he realised that I wasn't responding, which was a struggle, he pulled back and looked, down at me.

"Now Rosetta, would you please be quiet for 2 minutes, so that I can talk."

I nodded, too shocked to answer.

"Okay, so I know where you're coming from, but I just wanted us to have some time after we're married, to just have some time to our selves, and not be interrupted by the media"

I sighed, understanding what he was going on about.

"I know what you mean Kyle, and I guess I can wait a few years before we tell them, but it will be worse then, then it is if we tell them now, you know that right?"

"Yes, but I just wanted a few years of you, me and our married life."

I sighed, "I guess you are right, we can wait a few years before we tell the media."

I smiled up at him, and he smiled back down at me before leaning down to kiss me.

"I love you, Rosie" he said, when he pulled away, once we had both had to breathe.

"I love you too, Ky."

Kyle reached for my hand, brought it up to his lips, kissed it and then led me into the kitchen, where Miles and Katie were waiting, with breakfast on the table ready for us.
