Chapter Thirty-Five: Tommy

26th October 2020

The past six months had been really hectic, after doing the interview we could barely leave our house, without being spotted by someone, but they had started to calm down in the last few weeks. Anthony and Rowan were now both in nursery, Anthony being full time now, and Rowan being half day as she turns one next month.

Kyle was also off work for the next week, so we were planning to spend the morning relaxing, maybe watch some movies, before we needed to pick Rowan up from day care at one.

"So what are we watching first?" I asked as I set down a bowl of popcorn and sweets on the coffee table, before curling up into Kyle's side.

Kyle was choosing the first film that we watched, and he had chosen a film that had recently come onto DVD, one that didn't have him in because he didn't like watching himself.

Kyle wrapped his arms around me and pulled me even closer to him, as we settled to watch the movie.

The house phone ringing caused me to jump, while we watched the second film.

"I'll get it." Kyle whispered kissing my head, before getting up to answer the phone out in the hallway.

Kyle walked into the room less than two minutes later, smiling widely.

"What are you smiling about?" I asked him.

"We need to go to the hospital."

"Wh- The baby?" I smiled at him, standing up.

"Yes."

"Let's go then." I said, hurrying towards the front door, grabbing my handbag on the way.

Kyle laughed, following me out.

We were half way to the hospital when I noticed the time.

"Kyle, Rowan needs to be picked up in half an hour."

"Okay," Kyle took a breath and nodded, "I'll drop you off at the hospital and then go and get her."

"Are you sure? What about the press?"

"Yes, I know you don't like to drive, I'll be careful."

"Okay then," I agreed, "Only if you're sure?"

"I am, I won't be that long."

"Okay." I said just as we pulled up in front of the hospital.

I gave him a quick kiss, before opening the door and rushing into the hospital and towards the maternity ward, while Kyle left to get our daughter.

"Rose!" I heard my name being called, just as I made it to the reception desk.

I turned and saw Sophie heading towards me.

"Hey Sophie, how's everything going?" I asked her, once we had reached each other.

"Katie's doing great, she wanted me to wait out here for you and Kyle though, where is he by the way?"

"He's gone to get Rowan." I answered, just as we reached the room that Katie and Miles were in, bringing their child into the world.

I looked up from the bright blue eyes, and tuft dark brown hair that matched his mothers, and to Kyle who had just walked into the room with both Rowan and Anthony.

"Took you long enough." I smiled at him as he walked over to me and placed a kiss on my head, before looking down and the beautiful baby boy in my arms.

"I decided to get Anthony while I was getting Rowan; I thought it would be easier."

"I know, one of us would have had to leave to get him soon anyway."

Kyle stroked the baby's cheek, before turning to look at Miles and Katie.

"Congratulations guys," He went over and gave them both a hug, before asking, "Have you chosen a name yet?"

"Yes." Miles started, and Katie finished, "We've decided to name him, Tomas Luc."

"But Tommy for short." Miles added.

While Miles and Kyle continued to talk, I passed Tommy to his mother and then went over to Anthony, who had taken a seat in the chair next to the bed.

"Do you want to meet your new cousin?" I signed to him, as I crouched down in front of him.

He nodded, so I picked him up and took him over to the bed.

I sat him down next to Katie, as he looked at the tiny baby fascinated.

"What is his name?" He signed, looking back up at me.

"Tomas" I signed back.

Anthony turned back to the baby, and raised his hand as if to touch the baby. He turned back to look at me as if to see if it was okay, to which I nodded and then signed to him "Carefully."

Anthony smiled at me, before turning back to little Tommy, and gently stroking his cheek, just like his father had done a few minutes earlier.

Later that evening, once both of the children were in bed and sleeping, and after Kyle and I had cleaned up everything from our mini movie marathon this morning. Kyle was lying on top of the covers on the bed in just his boxers, while I tried to change.

"Just come to bed." Kyle said, as I took of my jeans off.

"I need to change Kyle."

"You could," Kyle started to stand up as he spoke, "Or you could just come straight to bed like this."

Kyle wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into his chest.

"I could," I pushed away from him slightly, and gave him a kiss before smiling at him, "But I don't want to."

"Come on, we could make a start on trying for baby number three." He wiggled his eyebrows at me.

I laughed, "I don't think so."

I shrieked when Kyle picked me up and throw me onto the bed, where he continued to tried convince me that we should try for a third baby.

All I can say is that no babies were conceived that night, but we did get an even bigger surprise four years later.
