Chapter Thirty-Seven: Scott

Thursday 18th July 2030

This past week had gone by fast and it was now the children's last day in school. Anthony finished at one o'clock and Rowan and the twins finished at three. Kyle was also away until Saturday, so it had just been the children and me since Tuesday.

The past week hadn't really been that interesting. The children were finishing up school work and I was busy with the day care that I had opened about seven years ago. Kyle was in the middle of directing his own film as well as co-starring in another, so he was constantly back and forth from them, because he didn't want to miss any time with us, no matter how much money producers offered him to stay for longer than one week to film.

I left the day care at twelve thirty, saying a quick goodbye to everyone, before making my way to Anthony's school, as I was taking him out to lunch.

I arrived at ten to one and just waited in the car opposite the school, before sending him a text to tell him that I was here.

He came out about fifteen minutes later, and I saw him saying goodbye to some of his friends, before he headed over to the car.

"Where are we going to eat?" He asked me, once he was strapped in and I was pulling out.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked, looking over at him, as I stopped at the end of the road.

"Um, McDonalds?"

"Yeah, if you want." I nodded as I was now driving, and I was still a nervous driver, even after all these years of driving.

We had a nice meal, even though it was at a fast food restaurant, and we spoke about how school was going, and about how he was excited to be going to see his dad at work, even though Gabriel was going too, because I was having a girls days with everyone else.

Before I knew it, it was two forty, so we quickly made our way to get Rowan and the twins from school.

We arrived at five past three, and I told Anthony to get Rowan while I got the twins, as I put my sunglasses on. Even though the parents were used to me coming to the school every day now, there was still a parent that would come over to me every now and then, trying to become my friend. Just so that they could meet Kyle, or to ask me questions.

The children had just started to be let out, and once the teacher spotted me, she called out to Teagan and Gabriel to say that I was here.

"How was your last day of year one?" I asked them, taking both of their hands.

"It was fun mum." Gabriel told me.

"We had a party, and watched a film." Teagan finished, as I led them out of the school to meet with Anthony and Rowan, by the car.

I took the children to the park for a few hours, conscious of the people that were taking pictures of us. So after about an hour and a half I got fed up and decided to head home for a quiet night in with my children.

I made them fajitas, which they all loved, before they went off to play while I cleaned up with some help from Anthony.

The twins went to bed at half eight, as it wasn't a school night, while Anthony and Rowan finished watching a film, before going to bed a half past nine. I was left to clean up the toys that they had left out, and I also started on a clothes wash, before my phone rang just after ten.

"Hey Love," He spoke, when I answered the phone. "How has everything been?"

"Hi Ky, the children have been fine, they miss you though, and there were some people taking pictures when we went to the park today."

Kyle has called every night at around ten o'clock since Tuesday.

"I miss them too, and I'll talk to Oliver about it."

"It's fine, they didn't really bother us, they stayed far away from us, I just knew that they were there."

"Okay, well I'll still talk to him," Kyle sighed, "I missed you, Rosie."

"I missed you too, Ky"

"So, what are you up to now?"

"Well the children are all in bed, and I just finished doing a clothes wash, so I was planning on taking a shower," Kyle groaned, probably trying not to imagine all of the times that we have spent in the shower together. "And then heading to bed."

"Well I'll let you take a shower, and then I'll call you back in about half an hour?"

"Okay, bye."

"I love you, bye."

"I love you too." I said, hanging up and quickly having a shower before Kyle called back in half an hour.

"So," Kyle started, exactly thirty minutes later, "What are you wearing?" He asked in a suggestive tone.

"Well, I just got out the shower so..."

A knock at my bedroom door woke me up the next morning, I quickly pulled on my dressing gown and opened the door, to see Anthony stood there with a boy around twenty-one right behind him.

"We have to help him mum." Anthony signed to me.

"I know, let me get dressed and then we'll go. Can you get Rowan and the twins up for me please?"

"They already are, and they're dressed too."

"Thank you, wait downstairs, I'll be right down."

Anthony nodded before smiling at the blonde haired, green eyed boy behind him as he made his way downstairs.

"Thank you for helping me." The boy spoke, before turning in the direction of the stairs and vanishing.

Once I was dressed, I called Christopher but Karee answered the phone, so I asked her if she could watch the children for a few hours, and I told her that I would explain when I got there. She of course said yes, and I quickly ushered the children out of the house and into the car. I knew that the ghost would find us again soon.

"Hi Rose, is everything alright?" Karee asked as she opened the door, she didn't know about my talent, or Anthony's, so we had to lie.

"Yeah, the doctor's called me this morning though, and they've moved Anthony's check-up from next week to in an hour."

"Oh, is everything Okay with Anthony?"

"Yes, it's just the usual tests that they do, and I don't really want to take all of the children."

"It's fine, I don't mind watching them, and Christopher should be home within the next two hours, and Ariel loves spending time with her cousins anyway."

"Auntie Rosie." Ariel called out as she came to give me a hug.

"Hi sweetie, how are you?"

"I'm Okay thanks, are Rowan, Teagan and Gabe playing over mine today?" She asked me.

"Yes sweetie, and I'll be back in a few hours with Anthony." I said, stroking her wavy red hair that made her look just like the little mermaid.

I quickly said my goodbyes to the children and then thanked Karee again as I said goodbye to her.

The ghost was sat in the back seat of the car when we got in.

"So, what are your names?" He asked us, as I started to pull out of the driveway.

"I'm Rosetta, and this is my son Anthony, what's yours?"

"I'm Scott."

"OK Scott, can you tell me if you remember dying?"

"Not really, I know what happened before though."

"Well could you start with that?"

"Yeah, I had had a fight with my girlfriend, well ex-girlfriend really the night before, I had just found out that she had been cheating on me, and she didn't know who the father of the baby was."

"Okay, and do you know how long ago this happened, or how many months pregnant she was?"

"Um, what's the date today?"

"19th July 2030."

Scott was silent for a few seconds before answering, "This happened about six months ago, she was about three months pregnant, and the baby was due today."

"Well we could go to the hospital, and she if she's there?"

"Okay, yes please."

"What's her name?"

"Claire Davis."

It took us awhile before the receptionist would tell us anything about Claire, but when she finally did she told us that she had given birth to a little boy about an hour ago, which is when Scott appeared at my house, and that she was now allowed visitors.

We made our way to Claire's room,

"Are you ready?" I asked Scott when we reached the door.

"As I'll ever be."

I knocked on the door, "Come in." A female voice replied.

We quietly walked into the room.

"Hi Claire,"

"How do you know my name? Who are you?"

"My name is Rosetta and I'm a friend of Scott's."

"Scott's been dead for the past six months." She said, tears filling her eyes.

"I know," Scott started told me what to say to her, "My husband met him at the gym a few months before, and when I had gone to get him, they were sat outside the gym talking like they were old friends."

"Yeah that sounds like Scott, he was always so kind to everyone that he met."

"Scott also told us about the baby, and how he didn't think that it was his."

"Yeah, he was so confused, because he thought that you loved him, as much as he loved you."

I saw Anthony move over to look down at the baby, who was lying in a cot next to Claire's bed.

"I did, do love him so much, and if he had just listened, instead having jumped to conclusions, then he would have known."

"So you didn't cheat on him?"

"That's what he thought that I had done, but then the threats started coming to our flat, and I guess I was acting strange."

"You don't have to tell me but, what happened?"

She started crying again, and looked down at the baby that Anthony was smiling down at, he probably already knew whose baby it was.

"I had a stalker, and one night they took it too far, and then a few weeks later I found out that I was pregnant. And I guess he did too, because he kept sending me notes, threating me and Scott about going to the police," she took a deep breath to try and calm herself down, before continuing, "But then Scott was killed, and I knew that it was him, he was arrested. A few weeks later, I had one of those DNA tests that they can do while the baby is still in the womb to find out whose baby it was."

I hadn't noticed that Scott had also moved over to look down at the baby, until they both spoke at the same time.

"He's mine."

"He's Scott's."

We spoke for about half an hour, before Anthony and I said goodbye. Scott had decided that he didn't want to cross over, he was going to stay with his family, and Claire had named the baby Daniel, which is Scott's middle name.

We left the hospital, happy that we were able to, unknowingly to Claire; reunite this family, before heading to my brother's house to pick up my children. The gods only know what trouble the twins have caused.

I spent the next day relaxing at home with the children, who are all in the large, swimming pool, that Mitchell had insisted that we get for days like today, sunny without a cloud in sight.

Kyle wasn't due home until later this evening, so I had planned picnic food for the children to have throughout the day, and if Kyle made it back before tea, then I thought that we could go out for small family meal.

Kyle hadn't made it back by six, but I had gotten a text saying that he was just about to get on his flight, which meant that he would be home around two AM. So I made the children some pasta, before sending them off to take baths before bed. Anthony was using the shower in mine and Kyle's room, while I helped the twins with their baths in the family bathroom. After they were done, I sent Rowan in to have her bath, while I helped the twins dry off and get ready for bed.

The children were all in bed, and hopefully, asleep by nine thirty. So I made myself a cup of hot chocolate, as the nights are colder than the days, and settled in front of the TV to watch a new show that had started a few weeks ago.

By the time that was finished I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay awake any longer, so I headed up to bed, and quickly sent Kyle a text, just to let him know that I was now heading to bed, that I loved him and that I would see him soon, before I fell into a dreamless sleep.

The next morning, instead of being woken up by a knock on the door, I was woken up by kisses being placed on my checks and jaw as they traveled down my neck before stopping at the top of Kyle's shirt that I was wearing.

"Baby?" He whispered, placing more kisses back up my neck and to my mouth.

"Kyle?" I asked tiredly, opening my eyes, and realising that it wasn't even morning, as it was still dark outside.

"Yeah Rosie, it's me."

"Kyle," I said, wrapping my arms around him and trying to sit up, but he was on top of me so I couldn't. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too." He said, pressing a hard kiss to my lips, as his hands ran down my sides.

We reconnected for the next few hours, before we fell asleep in each other's arms around an hour before the sun rose.

We woke up a few hours later to two pairs of small feet jumping up onto us, "Mummy, Daddy." Gabriel and Teagan shouted excitedly, and I think one of them landed on Kyle's private area, because he groaned in pain as he moved his hands from my waist to cover himself.

After kicking the children out, telling them to go and wait downstairs for breakfast, I checked to see if Kyle was badly hurt, but he seemed fine, so I left him to take a shower, while I pulled on my dressing gown, and headed downstairs, where all four children were waiting to have their breakfast.

I had started to make toast for the five of them, as I was eating a piece of toast while I made theirs, before Kyle came down and told me to get dressed while he finished making breakfast. I dressed in a simple tropical print summer dress and a pair of silver sandals, and put on a touch of mascara and lip-gloss, before going to help the twins, as I hurt then climbing the stairs loudly.

I gave Gabriel a red polo shirt and beige shorts to wear, before giving Teagan a teal summer dress.

I checked on Rowan and saw that she was wearing a pale blue dress and was pulling on a pair of white ballet shoes. I went back to get the twins some shoes, Gabriel was wearing his trainers and Teagan was wearing a pair of white sandals, while I waited for her to finish.

The four of us walked downstairs together, where the boys were waiting for us in the living room, Kyle was dressed in a dark blue polo shirt, light blue three quarters lengths and a pair of trainers, while Anthony wore a light green polo shirt, denim three quarter lengths and a pair of trainers.

We made our way out to the car about half an hour later, as the children had woken us up and half past nine and it was now close to twelve. We were going to be spending the day at Clara and Mark's house, as it was Marie's twenty-fourth birthday and we were having a big family meal later on this afternoon.

When we arrived at the house, the younger children ran around the side of the house where they could hear Angel, Willow and Dawn playing, while Anthony and Rowan used the front door with us. As soon as we stepped inside the house, Rowan was off, with a quick hello to her grandparents, aunts and uncles, looking for Tommy, while Anthony preferred to stay near us adults.

Marie and Jake were staying with Clara and Mark here, so we greeted them and gave Marie her present before joining Clara, Katie and Sophie in the kitchen to help with the food.

We started to put the food on the table at around five, starting with the chicken, so that it could cool down while the children washed their hands and settled at the table. There was just enough room for everyone to have a seat around the table, before we all dug into our meals. All the while chatting about anything that came to mind. We were having a ten-minute break after we had all finished our Sunday roast, when Jake spoke up to Kyle.

"Hey Kyle, my sister is really excited to meet you at the summer party." Jake smiled, as if he knew something that we didn't.

"Oh um, well that's nice, how old is she?"

"Oh, is she a fan?" Kyle was starting to look uncomfortable, but she's only fifteen so it's not like she can do anything. I reached over Gabriel to squeeze his hand in reassurance.

"Yes, she's a huge fan."

I think everyone was starting to notice how uncomfortable Kyle was getting, so the subject was quickly changed as we all spoke about how while Kyle took Anthony and Gabriel to the studio with him next week, all of us girls, as well as Karee, Ariel, Skylar and Sarah were planning a shopping trip.

It was one week later and the girls and I were heading to pick up Clara and Marie from Clara and Mark's house, while Kyle had taken Anthony and Gabriel to the set of his new film for the day. The boys had left at eight this morning, so that they could be there for eleven, which was what the time was now, so I should be getting a text from Kyle soon to tell me that they were there.

"Hi Rose, Hey Rowan, Hey Teagan," Clara and Marie both said, as they got into the car and turned to face the girls in the back. Next, I went to pick up Sophie, Angel from their house.

With the car now full, we made our way to the town centre, where we were meeting everyone else in twenty minutes. Clara received a text from Skylar saying which ground they were one, and to tell us that they had saved a spot for us as well.

When we arrived, we quickly unfolded Angels pushchair, just encase she got tired and then all of the children were told to hold a certain persons hand, apart from Rowan, who was told to say within sight of all of us, but decided to take Clara's hand. I quickly checked my phone, and seeing that Kyle had sent me a text to say that they had arrived, I also sent him a text to let him know that we had also arrived, before putting my phone back in my bag as we headed out into the town centre.

The day in town was really nice, there were a few people who recognised me and the children, but for the most part we were left alone. We all got some lovely new clothes for ourselves, and the children some nice new clothes and everyone also got a few pieces of jewellery, including the children.

When we made it home at around half past five, Kyle was already there with the boys, and they had brought back food with them.

"What's all this?" I asked when I saw the pizza boxes, bags of chips and two large bottles of coke in front of them, on the coffee table.

"Well, when you didn't reply to my text when I told you that we were heading home for the day, we decided to get take out."

"Oh Okay, well I guess this is Okay." I smiled at him, before placing a kiss on his head as I went to get some plates and cups for everyone.

"So how long have you been back?" I asked, giving a plate to each of them.

"Not long ago, about ten minutes before you, so everything is still hot."

We dug into our tea then, as we spent the rest of the evening listening to the boys tell us about their day, and then to the girls tell them about ours.
