Chapter Eight: Telling Kyle

We had been back from Australia for about four days, and I knew for definite that I had to tell Kyle about me, I had known that we were serious before we left for Australia, but I think that all of the activities and adventures that we did while we were there just proved how much he really loved me. We had only really told each other that we loved each other a few times before we left for Australia and I feel like both of our feelings are now fully cemented.

So I was going to tell him, I just didn't know how to or how he would react.

Which is why I cancelled our Friday night movie night for a girls' night in, the boys' seemed a little disappointed, but were promised that they could cancel on us once, if they wanted to do something for themselves, which they agreed to.

"So," Katie started, as soon as we settled down on our sofa, in front of the TV, "Why did you cancel movie night with the boys for a girls' night in that sounds like something I would do?"

"No reason, I just felt like we haven't spent much time together lately." I said, smiling at her, so she wouldn't see through my lie, and then leaned forward to press play in the DVD remote and grabbed some chocolate from the bowl.

"Okay, that's rubbish and we both know it." I could tell that she was getting really confused with me right now, and was trying to figure out what was going on, but I was trying to figure out how to tell her.

"Can we just watch the film, I'll tell you about it after."

"You don't even like 'The curious case of Benjamin Button' it's my favourite film," She took both of my hands into hers, causing me to turn and face her, "You know you can tell me if something's' wrong with you and Kyle, right?"

"There's nothing wrong with us, but..."

"I think it's time to tell him, but I don't know how"

"Tell him what?"

"You know, about my Talent?"

"Oh yeah, you haven't told him yet?"

"No, I'm freaking out about it, how do I tell him?"

"I don't know, tell him when it feels right" "I feel like I have to tell him soon, or it could ruin our relationship"

"It won't ruin your relationship, if he loves you like he says he does, them he will understand why you haven't told him yet, and he will still love you when you do tell him"

"Okay thanks, you're the best"

"I know, now let's watch some chick flicks" We both laughed and then turned to watch the movie. We were on the sixth or seventh movie when I brought up the topic again.

"So when do you think I should tell him?"

"Well, if you still think it's going to ruin your relationship if you wait any longer, then soon"

"Okay" I was silent for a moment before I spoke again, "Do you think we could go over to their apartment now, so I could tell him?"

"It's only half eight, how about we finish watching this film and then head over there, it's your favourite film anyway" I agreed with her, so we watched the rest of 'The twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Part 2', which was about twenty minutes, before we packed everything up and turned the TV and lights off and then headed down to Katie's car.

About half way through the drive I thought of something.

"Do the boys' even know that we are going over to there's?"

"Yes, I text Miles while you were putting the chocolates away, they're both there, I said that you had to talk to Kyle alone, and that I was dragging him away for two hours while you two talk."

"Thanks," We pulled up in front of the boys' apartment building and made our way up to their third floor apartment.

Just before Katie knocked on the door, I spoke. "Wait, um you can tell Miles while you're out if you want"

"Are you sure, it's not really my secret to tell"

"I trust him, he's Kyle's best friend and your fiancé, and anyway it will be better than repeating myself"

"Okay, but only if you're sure?"

"I am, don't worry" She then knocked on the door, and I knew that there was no turning back now, I was about to tell my boyfriend, a secret that only two living people know about, and that's Katie and my brother.

Miles answered the door and smiled at the both of us.

"Good evening ladies" He kissed Katie on the cheek and then picked up my hand and kissed it as well.

"Hey, stop flirting with my girlfriend." Kyle said over his shoulder, as he then pushed past him and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Like I would do that, no offense Rose but I am happily engaged. I was just being a gentleman" Miles said as he pulled Katie to him and kissed her fully on the lips.

Kyle ignored him and kissed me on the forehead before speaking.

"Are you Okay? Miles said that Katie had told him that you wanted to talk to me?"

"Yeah I'm fine, it's nothing to terrible"

"Is it something I did, because-?" I interrupted him,

"It's nothing that you did, it's about me, I want...need to tell you something, and I'm not sure how to tell you"

"You know you can tell me anything right?"

"Yeah I know, but this is major, so I don't know how to say it, but I can't wait any longer"

"Okay, why don't we go inside and talk about this? You're not ill are you?"

"No, not ill" He lead me into the apartment and as I looked around for Katie and Miles, I realised that they had both left, Kyle kicked the door closed behind us and then keeping a hold on my hand, he lead me into their living room.

There was a game of football on, but as soon as we sat down, he switched it off and turned to face me, picking up both of my hands and squeezing them gently.

"Okay, so what is it that you wanted to tell me?"

"Well, um...Okay, let me just start off by saying that the only people who know about this is my parents, but they can't exactly tell anyone, and Katie and Christopher know, and Katie is telling Miles now, because I trust you both and I believe that neither of you would tell anyone about this."

"Okay, you're kind of freaking me out, are you sure everything is Okay?"

"Yes I'm sure, I just don't know how you will react when you find out, I'm afraid you might not love me anymore."

I was looking down at my lap now, and Kyle let go of one of my hands to bring his hand under my chin, making me look up at him.

"Nothing could change the way I love you Okay? You could be blind, deaf, or have a learning disability, I wouldn't care, it's not how you look on the outside that counts, even though there are benefits from that."

I smiled at that last bit, which caused him to smile before he continued, "It's about what's on the inside that really counts, and you have the kindest heart, and the most caring personality from anyone that I have ever met, well apart from my mum, so no matter what you tell me, I am going to love you anyway" We smiled at each other when he finished his speech and I pressed a quick kiss to his lips before speaking, because I knew now that I really could tell him anything, because he loved me and that was never going to change.

"Okay, I'll start from the beginning, it will probably clear some questions up along the way as well," Kyle nodded when I paused,

"So I first realised I wasn't like to other children when I was about five, my mum and dad were still alive then, anyway, one day when I got home from school there was this older boy around fourteen sat at the kitchen table, he was looking at the drawings I had left out that morning, I didn't recognise him so I asked him what his name was, he said his name was Steven and that he couldn't find his parents he asked me if he could stay with me until they were found, so I went to asked my mum and dad if he could stay, apparently they didn't know any Steven and didn't know why his was in our house, so they both ran to the kitchen with me following behind."

"When we got to the kitchen Steven looked up and smiled at the three of us, but my parents didn't see him, my dad said that it was just an imaginary friend, but my mum knew better, she told him about a myth on her side of the family that said that all of the Winters - that was my mums maiden name – women could see things that others couldn't, but my mum didn't have this gift and she knew that her mum didn't either, my grandma was very spiritual though, my great grandmother had this gift, but when my grandma and mum didn't get the gift, everyone thought that it had died out, until me," I paused, letting Kyle process what I had just said,

"So you see things that others can't, like what?"

He seemed interested and didn't look like he was freaking out, much.

"I can see and talk to the dead"

"Dead people?"

"Well, their spirits anyway, they want me to give their loved ones messages, so that they can pass over, like Steven, we found his family and he said what he had to through me and he was then able to pass over."

"Wow, really?"

We both sat in silence for a few seconds before he spoke again, "That's pretty cool"

"Really? You're Okay with this?" "Yeah, it's not that bad, as long as they don't interrupt private things"

"They have before but they manly wait, unless it's urgent then they don't care what they interrupt" I smiled at him, and he chuckled before pulling me into a hug.

"This is what you thought I would leave you over?"

"Well I won't, as long as you tell me if there are any spirits around before we do anything private."

"Okay, I can do that, there's only one in this building, she's by the main doors, and I think she's waiting for someone, but she knows to come to me if she wants' any help."

"Okay, so she won't come up here?"

"No, she doesn't want help yet."

"Good," he then leaned forward, which caused me to fall back on the sofa so that he was lying on top of me, and he pressed his lips against mine, and pushed his chest flat against mine.

"I think we have about twenty minutes before Katie and Miles get back." He whispered into my lips.

"You better shut up and kiss me then."

And that's exactly what he did.
