Zara stared at her reflection in the mirror. She smoothed her palm over her naked hip and bit back a smile when she saw the light mark left by Nathaniel’s grip on her body. Her breasts felt sore, in a very good way and there were hickeys on the side of her neck and on the swell of her breasts.
She blushed when she remembered how she’d almost forgotten about a condom when she had attacked Nathaniel not giving him a chance to deny her.
She glanced at the door to the bedroom. He was back in the kitchen preparing breakfast for them. He had left the bed sometime after they had had sex, kissing the top of the head.
Turning back to the mirror, she took one last look at herself and then headed to the shower. She turned the water on and grabbed her favorite body wash, taking her time and soaking up the heat. When she had finished, she wiped herself off and got dressed.
She found Nathaniel at the table, setting up a platter of eggs and toast. Two glasses of orange juice were placed on the counter. She gave him a shy smile, walking up to him to kiss his cheek.
“Mmm, you smell nice.” He placed his hand on her waist, drawing her to him. Burying his face in her neck, he inhaled deeply, the light shadow of facial hair on his cheeks rubbing against her skin. Zara laughed and grabbed a toast off the plate, biting into the crisp piece.
“Nathaniel, you need to eat.” She tried moving away, laughing again when he nuzzled her neck, kissing her skin.
“Yes, I do.” He agreed, going back to kiss her shoulder. “Are you on the menu?”
Zara stifled the urge to push her hips into his and rub herself against his firm body. She was already addicted to him. The feel of his hands on her, his kisses that stole her very breath, the soft sweet touch of his mouth against her ear, whispering to her how much he loved her. She reluctantly urged him backward, leading him to the counter where a pot of coffee lay ready.
“Nathaniel, come on. Matt is going to get Amy here in a while, isn’t he?”
She felt him sigh and lift his head. “Yes, you’re right.”
They sat down at the table and a comfortable silence followed. Zara helped herself to two servings and then looked at him. “Thank you for preparing this.”
Nathaniel gave her a crooked smile that sent her pulse racing. “Of course. You’ll get used to it in a little while.” He winked at her and took another bite, without looking away.
Zara’s heart skipped a beat.
He was staying.
Nathaniel suddenly chuckled.
“Zara, baby, relax. You look positively frightened.”
She felt the blood rise in her cheeks. Ducking her head, she looked down, taking a bite of the food and attempting to get her emotions in check.
Two seconds later, she felt a finger under her chin and then she was staring into the chocolate brown eyes she had come to love.
“Hey.” Nathaniel’s gaze searched hers. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Zara saw the uncertainty in his eyes. There was a hint of fear that flashed for a second and then disappeared.
“We’ll take it one day at a time. There’s absolutely no rush. Are you okay with that?”
It took her a moment to nod her head. Her chest felt heavy and her throat was tight with emotion. The words felt stuck inside. She thought about blurting it out and getting it done with, but for some reason she didn’t. And then Nathaniel smiled at her, setting the butterflies free in her belly and she was lost. She’d do anything to see that smile directed at her.
He gently rubbed his thumb against her chin and then let go. Disappointment curled in her for a moment but disappeared when he smiled slightly. “What do you want to do today?”
Zara moved the eggs around in her plate. “I need to apologize to Susan and Matt.”
She saw him nod. “They understand why you did what you did, Zara.”
Zara shook her head. “No, Nathaniel. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have behaved the way I did. I pushed away the people who mean the world to me and I hurt them like they didn’t deserve.” She stabbed a piece of toast with her fork.
“And I’m very sorry.” She added quietly.
Nathaniel didn’t respond. For a long minute, the only sound was the clink of silverware against the dish and Zara fought the bad feeling awakening in her stomach.
“I don’t hold that against you, Zara.” His deep voice sent a wave of reassurance over her. She looked up at him. His eyes held a sliver of possessiveness and that made goosebumps rise over her skin. His jaw was set, and he looked at her like nothing else existed. It was a heady feeling. She knew that in that moment and for the rest of time, wit Nathaniel- she’d have all of his attention.
“I could never walk away from you. I can’t. Not with the way I feel. It’s like- everything I’ve ever done, every situation that I had to go through has brought me to you. And I know the miracle of seeing you, loving you.” He lowered his voice, “Feeling you come undone underneath me.”
Zara felt the answering moisture between her legs.
“I could never let you go. I’m too selfish that way.” He reached out and traced the shell of her ear with his finger and tucked her hair away.
“I love you, Zara.” She saw him swallow hard. “And someday, I hope that you’ll grow to love me too.”
Her heart slammed in her chest. Tears pricked her eyes. She had never felt so overwhelmed. Never had her chest ached so bad, needing to comfort someone. Zara pushed her plate away and stood up. She moved toward him and she saw that his eyes never left hers.
Slipping between his body and the table, she settled herself in his lap, her thighs across his. Nathaniel’s hands came to rest on her hips, almost instantly beginning to smooth over her waist and the small of her back.
Even seated, she just barley made it to the top of his head. She liked that he was so much taller than her. she could kiss his neck without too much effort.
Zara saw the emotion in his eyes. He looked lost and maybe a little anxious. She wanted to wipe it away.
“Could you say that again?” She leaned toward him and brushed her mouth against his, barely a kiss. His eyelids dropped, and she felt the slight quickening of his breath. It matched her own.
“Say what?” He teased her mouth with his, his grip on her waist becoming firm.
Zara bit the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling.
“You know what.”
He moved his hands to her back and slid them lower, gripping her ass in a gentle squeeze. Zara’s hips moved restlessly. She felt him smile and she bit back a moan. He wasn’t playing fair.
Leaning in, she pressed herself against him, sure that he felt the tight peaks of her breasts through her shirt.
Nathaniel dropped his forehead to hers. “Okay, I concede.”
He turned his head and kissed the corner of her mouth. “I love you, Zara.”
She moved even closer, gently dragging her center along the swelling ridge of flesh between her legs. “I want you again.” She bit her lip when she rubbed against a spot that made a damp rush of moisture gather in her underwear. God, she was truly a goner.
Her arms around his neck, she kissed his jaw, trying to lift herself higher so she could touch him more. She gave out a happy sigh when he picked her up and placed her on the edge of the table, coming to stand between her legs. Nathaniel took her mouth in a deep kiss while his hips rocked against hers in a dry hump. Zara loved every second of it.
Nathaniel groaned into her mouth when she tightened her grip on his waist, urging him to rub against her and trying to get herself off. It was fast, hot and incredibly satisfying to see him lose control after a few long strokes. Abruptly, his fingers unsnapped her pants and Zara’s muscles coiled in anticipation of having his fingers plunge into her and take away the ache.
The sound of the door opening made them freeze and then a sweet little voice exclaimed.
