Chapter 28

I woke up before the sun this morning. And do you want to know why?

Because I’m freaking nervous!

My date with Damon was yesterday and I enjoyed it more than I should have. It just made my feelings for Damon final.

And now today we’re going to school and telling everyone the truth about us.

It’s terrifying, but I’m willing to do it for Damon. It seems like I would do a lot for him these days.

What has my life come to? Not that I mind. I wouldn’t want it any other way if Damon couldn’t be in it.

So now I’m waiting by my front door for Damon to pick me up, fidgeting with the end of my skirt.

I check myself in the mirror one last time to make sure I look okay.

Yup, I still look nice in my black and white tank top and black high waisted skirt.

I put on one of my favourite outfits so that I look extra good today, so not as many people think I’m not pretty enough for Damon.

Gosh I hope that doesn’t happen. What if people think I’m not good enough for him?

No Sophia, shut the hell up. You are good enough. That voice in the back of my mind argued.

I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm my nerves, and it worked pretty well until I heard a knock at my front door.

Now my heart was racing and my breathing was uneven.

I opened the door and Damon was waiting on the other side.

“Hey gorgeous.” he complimented as his eyes raked up and down my body.

“Hi.” I mumbled, not able to think of a witty comeback with all these nerves clouding my mind.

“Ready to go?” he asked, gesturing towards his car.

I nodded and locked my front door, before getting into his car.

On the way to school Damon tried to make small talk but I wasn’t really in the mood, so I kept giving him one word answers.

Once Damon parked his car and cut the engine he turned to face me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, concerns written all over his face.

“Just nervous I guess.” I replied vaguely.

“About telling everyone what’s going on between us?” he asked, and there was a hint of shock and hurt in his voice.

“What if everyone hates me or doesn’t think I’m good enough for you?” I explained, finally saying what’s on my mind.

“That’s not gonna happen, everyone loves you. If anything, I’m not good enough for you.” he told me as he grabbed my hand and squeezed gently.

“You’re right, I’m way too good for you.” I teased, a grin spreading across my face.

“Whatever, now let’s get this show on the road.” He suggested and got out.

Then he hurried over to my side and got the door somehow before I could open it myself.

“Lets do this.” I muttered to myself, and took Damon’s outstretched hand.

We were walking through the parking lot to the front entrance of the school, hand in hand, and everyone was staring. Like literally everyone.

I was use to having the schools attention but never have I ever had everyone’s eyes on me at the same time.

Damon noticed how nervous I got again and squeezed my hand for support, silently telling me that everything will be okay.

Along with the shocked stares we got, everyone was completely silent, and either sported an open mouth, gaping expression, a scowl coming from the girls, or an excited expression.

Three very different expression, from three very different kinds of people.

The kids with shocked expressions were all from my fan club.

The ones with scowls were from Damon’s, which consisted of literally all girls.

And the ones with excited expressions were from the biggest fans of our rivalry. Half of them were just excited for drama while the others were shipping Damon and I from the beginning.

I feel like my life is just a t.v show drama series.

Once we were inside the school everyone parted to either side of the hallway, making room for Damon and I.

Okay what the actual hell? It’s not like we’re royalty or anything, parting so we had a clear path to walk was just overdoing this whole thing.

People are so stupid sometimes.

Damon and I stopped off at our lockers, then before I knew it we were standing in front of my first class.

“Well since they already think we’re dating, we might as well make it final.” Damon said, then leaned over and kissed me. And it wasn’t just a quick peck, it was long and lingering, he was making sure that everyone around us saw.

At least now we don’t have to confirm our relationship status a million times.

“Bye sweetheart.” Damon whispered, smiling.

“Bye Dam Dam.” I teased, shooting him a playful wink.

He scowled at me just as the bell rang, so I playfully blew him a kiss and slid into my class.

Everyone was whispering furiously until they noticed me, then it went dead silent.

I huffed out an annoyed sigh and took my seat. Today was gonna be a strange and long day.

Lunch time. That’s a whole event on its own, out of this unusual day.

Damon’s table was pushed agains mine and now we had this extra large table with lot of people who’ve learnt to hate each other over the years, and to say it was awkward would be the understatement of the year.

Damon was sitting next to me, holding my hand under the table which comforted me a little but I still couldn’t handle all this awkwardness.

“So...” I said, trying to break this awkward silence.

The while cafeteria was silently staring at our table, waiting for something to happen.

“Great weather we’re having.” Damon said, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

I looked out the big windows on the other said of the cafeteria, it was raining.

“Good one.” Candy scoffed.

“Shut up sour patch kid.” Damon shot back.

I choked on a laugh and masked it as a cough so Candy didn’t get even more mad, but Damon saw right through my fake cough and winked at me.

“So you guys are dating?” Alex, Damon’s best friend blurted out.

I guess the awkward atmosphere was just too much for the guy.

Damon looked at me and nodded. He wanted me to tell everyone.

“Yes, we’re dating.” I said loudly and confidently, surprising myself.

I looked at Damon and he had a big goofy grin on his face.

My heart warmed at how happy he looked. He looked like a little boy who just got exactly what he wanted for Christmas.

Candy abruptly shot up from her chair and stomped out of the cafeteria.

“What’s her problem?” I asked to no one in particular.

“She’s like obsessed with Damon.” Alex replied.

Damon just rolled his eyes and squeezed my hand.

“So she’s jealous?” I asked rhetorically.

“Ya, pretty much.” Garrett said, speaking up for the first time this lunch.

“I feel like there will be a lot of that going around for a while.” I said quietly so only Damon could hear me.

“Don’t worry about it.” he told me.

I nodded and a few minuets later the bell rang.

I walked to my next class with Damon and Alex, and to my surprise Alex was in the class.

I sat down at the back with him, trying to keep the attention off of me, and if I sat in the back no one would be able to talk about me behind my back
-literally- and there wouldn’t be anything thrown at me.

Yeah I know I’m being dramatic but I’m scared Damon’s fan club will do something to make my life a living hell, so I’m being careful.

Half of me was regretting telling everyone about Damon and I, but the other half didn’t regret a thing because it made him so happy.

“So how long have you and Damon been dating?” Alex asked once our teacher started drowning on about whatever this class was about.

“Not long, we’ve only been on two dates.” I answered as I pulled out some paper to doodle on.

“It’s so weird seeing you two together and happy with each other.” Alex muttered.

I nodded in agreement, “It was really strange at first but once we got over our differences we really enjoyed each others company.” I told him as I doodled those scribble tornados.

Alex nodded in understandings, “I think it’s really cool that he’s finally found a girl that he cares about. We all started to think he was gay.”

I choked back a laugh. Gay? They though Damon was gay?

“Why would you think that?” I asked.

“He never had a girlfriend, he never took a girl on a date, he never had one night stands.” Alex explained.

Wow. Damon might actually really like me if what Alex said was true.

“Anyways, we should hang out, you me, Damon, Garrett. So we can get along more, you know?” Alex suggested.

I guess that makes sense, Damon’s group and my group were enemies just like Damon and I were, so the four of us hanging out and bonding was a good idea.

And I only say the four of us because my best friend and Damon’s best friend needed to get along, not our whole group because we don’t actually spend time with our whole group.

“That’s a great idea, you talk to Damon and I’ll talk to Garrett and we’ll set a time and place.” I replied.

“Sounds like a plan.” Alex said and then we both actually payed attention for the rest of class.

I was standing at my locker, stuffing all the things I didn’t need to bring home inside it.

People were still acting all weird even though it was the end of they day and they should’ve gotten over the initial shock of Damon and I by now.

Suddenly I felt someone behind me, and just as I was about to turn around to see who it was they put their hands over my eyes.

“Guess who?” an all too familiar voice said.

“Channing Tatum?” I guessed hopefully, even though I knew exactly who it was.

“Ah, no.” He said sounding the slightest bit offended.

“Well in that case, I don’t want to know who you are.” I teased and lifted his hands away from my eyes.

He rapped his arms around my waist and spun me around to face him.

“You wound me greatly.” Damon said in a mock hurt voice.

“I try.” I said with a shrug.

“You must be punished for your behaviour.” he told me, his eyes darkening ever so slightly.

“I look forward to it.” I whisper, and peck him on the lips before sliding out of his grip and closing my locker.

“You’re such a tease.” he groaned, and took my hand as we made our way to his car.

“So I got a text from Alex.” Damon said one we were on our way home.

“Did you now?” I said.

“He said you guys were talking about all of us hanging out.” he told me.

“Yeah, Alex wants you, me, Garrett and him to hang out since we’re all one group now and we should all get along well.”

Damon nodded, “That’s a good idea.”

“Yeah, now all I have to do is call Garrett and see if he’s on board with this.”

“Sounds good.” Damon said and took my hand in his.

I smiled at the simple gesture. Damon really is a sweet guy, to think I hated him with a fiery passion at one time is crazy.

Soon after we arrived home and he walked me to my front door.

“So when do I get my third date with you?” he asked.

I rolled my eyes as I unlocked the door, “When did I agree to a third date?”

“You know you want to go out with me again.” he said cockily.

“Well maybe is you asked me out properly.” I teased.

Damon sighed and got down on one knee, “Will you, Sophia Mackenzie, do me the honour of going out on a third date with me?” he asked, taking my hand in his.

“No.” I said bluntly, and his eyes widened in disbelief, almost looking like a cartoon character.

“What!?” he exclaimed as he stood in front of me once again.

I laughed, “Kidding, kidding. I’d love to.”

The relief that flashed across his face was indescribable, there was just so much.

“Good.” he breathed as he sighed.

He leaned in and kissed me, then turned around and walked back to his house.

As I entered mine, all I could think about was ′I just agreed to go on a third date with Damon Blake. Holy crap.′
