Moments of Grace

Now

Spencer and Leah stayed for practically the rest of the day. Neither of us told Spencer what was said, and I don't think either of us will. At least, not for a while. They're getting ready to leave now. Leah pulls her coat on and sends me a secret sort of smile, because apparently we're sort of friends now. But whatever. I'll take what I get.

She comes over and holds her hand out for me to take. I do. "I'll see you later, Grace," she says and gives me one last finger squeeze before she moves to the door. "I'll wait in the hall for you," she tells Spence and I shoot her a thankful smile.

He nods at her and then sits on the side of my bed as she closes the door behind her. "You gonna' tell me what you talked about earlier?"

I shake my head at him and he frowns. "Sorry, Spence. Girls only." I smile at him and he laughs.

"Okay, fine. Keep your little womanly secrets." He takes a long breath and then leans over and presses a lingering kiss to my forehead. "Thanks," he whispers as he pulls back.

"For what?"

"For saying whatever it is you said." He shrugs. "You fixed something." He winks at me. I don't think I'll ever get sick of watching this boy wink. Or speak, walk, talk, breathe...I chuckle at my ridiculous thoughts and he gives me an expectant sort of look.

"Don't worry about it," I tell him and he seems to accept that.

"I gotta' go," he says and I nod at him. He stands up and leans over to kiss the top of my head quickly. "See you later, Gracie."

"Yeah. Later, Spence."
