He woke up feeling nothing as always, another heart stolen. He didn't care it was always the same. Some stupid girl always gave her full heart to him in the end. It was beyond him, why anyone would give up their heart freely for nothing in return. Where was the logic behind it? He never cared enough to find out the answer. As long as it meant that he got the girl's full heart. Then he knew that he could survive for another year. At least thats how it used to be, before she became greedy. The one that ate the hearts to live. Recently she had become more demanding. He didn't mind. What he found troublesome was the fact that she only ate pure hearts. The rarest kind of hearts. Why? But he knew that arguing was pointless. He wasn't born with a heart. He never understood what was so great about having a heart. If only to give it to someone else in the end. The jar was emptying faster than it was filling up. Time as he knew it was running out. The winter solstice wasn't here yet. He knew that it was only Autumn. He needed to act quickly. Or else....he couldn't begin to imagine that thought. The last thing on his mind before he fell back asleep, was that the heart that he needed to find was the rarest of the pure kind. He had no idea how to find it such a thing of pure beauty, as she had described it. Sleep claimed him before he could think anymore. He knew that she was watching....
