As my eyes opened, Tyler stood there. I got up a little too quickly causing my head to spin.
“Aria. Luke brought you here. What happened?”
“Luke?!? What the hell is she talking about?”
“Some guy at a bar nearly raped her, but I came in and stopped it.”
“Oh my god! Are you okay?” I shook my head. Tyler gave me a hug.
“Why Tyler? Why did you not tell me?”
“I loved you Aria. I didn’t want to hurt you. My mom tricked me into coming here with my grandfather’s funeral. I honestly had no idea in the beginning. She then told me about it and I every time I called you I wanted to tell you, but I couldn’t work up the courage to tell you. And then I heard Luke on the other line and it made me very jealous to think that you would be with someone else when I would get married.”
“Luke. Why do you seem so unaffected by this? The girl you proposed to said she was married.”
“She accepted my apology. At least now I know that she forgave me. If you truly love someone, you would rather see them with someone who makes them happy even if it means they won’t be with you.”
“Tyler, do you love Clara?” Luke walked out of the room and towards a window at the end of the corridor.
“Yes. I met her three days ago, but it was love at first sight. She was my grandfather’s care-taker and she had this kind and gentle caring nature.”
“So did you lie to me when you said you loved me?”
“Not exactly a lie, just a little stretch of the truth. I really do like you though.”
“Two years, Tyler! TWO YEARS!! I thought you really meant it like I did when I told you.”
“I’m sorry A, I really am. If I could rewind time I would.”
“Well, you can’t. You know I should just head back to our- no MY apartment.”
“I’m staying here with Clara. It doesn’t matter to me.”
“Why is this hurting me more than it hurts you?”
“I did terrible things to you: Lying and Cheating. I am the one who found love before you, causing you to believe that I, a terrible person, can have good things going for me.”
“I just want to leave.”
“I’m sorry Aria, but you have found true love.”
“I thought I did with you, but apparently not.”
“Not me Aria.”
Tyler point at him. The one who saved me a countless number of times. The one who was there for me when I needed someone. The one who cared more about my well-being than his.
