Chapter 2

“Hello?” I thought it was going to be Tyler, but instead it was Clara.

“How’s the house?” she asked. Her voice was very sad, worse than it had been a couple of days ago.

“You sound horrible.”

“I think I made a mistake coming over here. I left the one guy I really liked. I found him with another girl, so I sprinted. What if he is still with her? I miss him so much!”

“I doubt he is still with her. Maybe he will be in London too!” I realized that wasn’t that bad of an idea. I jogged to the office and logged into the computer.

“So is everything nice there? I hope you are taking good care of yourself. Is there enough food. There is a super market about two miles away. You can go there,” she went on and on. I waited for the internet to load. I quickly searched for two tickets to London. If Luke and I went, he could find Clara and I could help Tyler. There were no flights until the weekend. The tickets cost over five hundred dollars each. It was worth it though. It could be my make-up present for Luke. I really did act like a shit head back there and I blamed it on him.

“Everything’s fine here! Go ENJOY YOURSELF!!! You are on VACATION! Chill. I’ll call you if anything happens over here! Bye Clara,” I hung up before she could sneak in another word. I approached the guest’s bathroom and just as I was about to knock on the door, Luke came out in a towel. He had rock solid abs. At least a six pack.

“What the hell do you want?” I showed him the tickets and he snatched them. “What the fuck are these?” He stopped right in the hallway.

“Tickets to fly to London!” I exclaimed.

“Wait. What?!?”

“You can see Clara and propose to her in London!”

“What if she finds another gu-”

“No negative thoughts. Just take the tickets and thank me later!” I shot him a smile.

“How much was it?”

“It’s a secret. Think of it as an early engagement present.”

“When is the flight?”

“Saturday at 5:48 in the morning. You better wake up early!”

“FIVE?!?! THE FLIGHT IS AT FIVE!! That means that I need to wake up at like 3!”

“The sooner we land, the sooner you can see Clara.”

“Why are you tagging along?”

“My boyfriend’s in the outskirts of Kent. I decided to pay him a visit. His grandfather passed away.” He went into his room to change.

“Oh. I didn’t know you had a boyfriend,” he spoke to me through the wall.

“I told you when you supposedly ‘proposed’ to me”

“I thought it was part of a joke.”

“Are you trying to say that no guy would be interested in me?”

“What? No! I-”

“So you thought I was gay?!?!”

“No just listen. I thought you were a very independent,” he said as he came out of his room wearing some sweat pants and a loose shirt.

“So if I’m independent, I can’t want someone to hug and cuddle. Someone who will guard me with his life.” I felt the tears rise. Scott, why?

“Oh no! Please don’t cry. I really didn’t mean it! I apologize!” Luke begged.

“It’s not you. Just a stupid ex.”

“Yeah. Any ex of yours would be stupid!”

“Are you saying I only choose stupid boyfriends?!?!” I joked.

“NO! I meant that anyone who dumped you is stu-” Luke took me seriously.

“I was just messing with you!”

“Oh! You are so gonna pay!” He started to tickle me. I had to admit that was one weakness of mine. I fell to the ground as he tickled me. Soon we were in an awkward position. He had me pinned down on the ground while he straddled his legs on either side of me. Luke stopped tickling me for a minute and our faces were close together. We both were gasping for air. Our faces were only inches away. We snapped away from each other. “Uh... I should be heading to bed,” Luke said.

“Yeah, I’ll be in my room if you need anything.” We awkwardly head our separate ways. A little part of me craved to share a kiss with Luke, but I knew it was wrong. It would only be one more day before we head to London and he would see his soul mate. I changed and got into my bed. Soon, I was asleep.

My eyes snapped open from the weird dream I had. I looked at the clock. In bright red lights it read 4:39. This had not been something abnormal for me. My throat felt as dry as the Sahara, so I headed downstairs to get a drink. I missed a step and nearly fell, but Luke had caught me.

“You really need to be more careful.”

“Tell me something I don’t know,” I rolled my eyes. He turned on the lights and we walked down together. “Why did you get up so early?” I questioned him.

“I could ask you the same thing.”

“I asked first, so answer.”

“I’m sorry about the whole that happened early. This thing with Clare just has me so messed up! I didn’t mean to. Anyways your boyfriend would probably kill me.” I tried imagining little scrawny Tyler beating up Luke. I started laughing.

“What is wrong with you?” he asked as he gave me a weird look.

“I’m Aria! I will probably be the weirdest person you met.” I stuck out my hand and he shook it.

“I’m Luke. I am in love with music. It’s my passion. My heart. My soul. Actually, I’m in a band.”

“That’s awesome. Who’s your favorite band?”

“Green Day. Hands down.”

“What song?”

“It’s too hard to choose.”

“Too true.”

“How about you?” he asked.

“Favorite Band?”

“Yeah. They make awesome music compared to the shit the radio play these days.”

“Too true, but you don’t look like someone who would listen to that music,” he replied.

“A true appreciator of something does not need to appear as something different just to prove they like it.”

“Did you jus-”

“Yes, yes, I just made that up.

“We should probably head back to bed. We need to spend the whole day tomorrow packing! FUN!”

“How long are we staying?”

“I didn’t get the returning ticket.”

“Well, it looks like time for me. I’ll see you tomorrow morning,” I gave him one of my cheekiest smiles and left for my room. When I entered my room, I realized that I hadn’t gotten the water I craved for. I stared at the ceiling and eventually fell asleep.
