Chapter 1
There was a time, prior to man, where the moon didn’t exist. At night, the Earth was lost in the darkness of the universe and had to wait as long as necessary for the Sun to return to her side.
It was at this timeless moment of the universe where, in Earth, lived Luno and Pacuan, two beings that were born alongside her. When the stardust condensed in one place, they put their feets on the ground.
They were two totally different beings, in every sense of the word. Luno loved those hours of complete darkness, while Pacuan enjoyed running in the dirt while the sun lit up his face.
Luno knew the name of each of the stars around them, while Pacuan knew the name of every grain of sand that covered the planet.
Luno admired teamwork, Pacuan prefered to do things alone.
Luno appreciated the silence, Pacuan expressed himself through noise.
They were two totally different beings, in every sense of the word, but they loved each other fervently. They knew when not to disturb each other and when they should comfort the other; such was their connection, which never needed words to express their feelings for each other.
Time passed, no one know how much, but they didn’t care.
What importance time can have when a year last the same as a second? What
importance time has if it doesn’t affect us at all?
That’s what they thought, and time passed.
But gradually, Luno began to notice that she couldn’t remember the name of each one of the stars around them, and Pacuan didn’t run as much as he used to. Luno’s silver skin began to crack, showing signs of aging. Pacuan’s fatigue no longer allowed him to run free in his loved dirt. Both were heading fast, yet slowly, toward their inevitable end.
The time kept running and the two just lay down on the ground and watched the emptiness in front of them. The stars were flying everywhere, explosions of different colors lit the cosmos and they witnessed the birth of the galaxies, and they decided to name them.
It was coming. They could feel how their bodies began to dissolve and their consciousness to fade away. In that moment, they decided their last wishes.
Luno was the first to go. She fulfilled her dream, as she decided to remain forever in the night that she adored, floating in the silent peace of the cosmos.
Pacuan took a little longer to go away, as he didn’t decided what was his last wish. But over time he managed to do so and his body dissolved in a liquid that spread to every corner of his beloved Earth.
Thus, the nights were no longer completely dark and the light that reached Luno, was directed towards Earth, as she had wished to unite both her taste for the night as the taste of Pacuan for the light. Over time, she was named as Moon.
Thanks to Pacuan’s liquid, the Earth was covered in life and he
could complete his wish. He wished to remain forever on his beloved Earth, yet
to never be separated from Luno so he could team up with her. Two things she
loved.
That’s why when she tended to get away, he would fight with all his might to
rise and keep her in sight. With time, he was called Ocean.
It’s most likely that no one will remember this story. Over the years, those that came after Luno and Pacuan, forgot them and their actions. However, they used Luno’s light to guide themselves and Pacuan’s freshness to restore their vitality
Over the years, we all forgot about Luno and Pacuan. But they don’t care, because all they need is the love they had, have and will have for each other.
What importance time can have when a year last the same as a second? What importance time has if it doesn’t affect us at all?
None, because time doesn’t affect the love we feel for those who complement us. None, because true love is as eternal as time.
