"Alright. It's finally done. Tomorrow I'll test if it's work."

"Is it done, Kanade?"
"Yes, professor. It's done, but I'll test it tomorrow."
"Hmmm. I see."

Professor walks towards the android that I've made and touch it as it's some kind of treasure.

"Did you already give it a name?" and he looks at me.

I blush and say: "Yes. His name is Jin."

Then the door opens and Tezuka walks in the door with a box in his hand.

"Tezuka. Have you already seen the android that Kanade had made?"
"No. Is it already done?"
"Why don't you ask her yourself?"

He turns his head to me and looks at me with a question mark in his eyes.

"Y-yes."

He smiles and this time he runs to the android. His eyes are wide open then he opens his mouth.

"Whaaa! It looks exactly as in the picture! Let me guess! His name is Jin, right?!"

I look away and didn't say a word. Tezuka smiles and ask me to leave.

"Don't worry. I'll watch over him."
"Thanks."

I leave the building and go back home. I live alone in an apartment and I also don't have a lot of stuffs. Only things that I need to live, because most of the time I'm just behind my computer. Today I decide to sleep early so I can test my android as soon as possible. I make some cup noodles as diner, because it's easy and fast. I return to my room and lay in bed. I try to fall asleep, but I just can't stop worry about my android. What if it doesn't work? What if all of this is just a dream? What if someone has stolen it? I just can't stop these thoughts of mine. After a while I feel tired and I slowly lose my conscious.

I wake up and realize it's already morning. I change my clothes and leave the apartment in a hurry. At the station I wait for the train. I have wait for 5 minutes, but I feel like I have wait for an hour. In front of the building all my thoughts from last night come back to me. At first I walked slowly then bit by bit I move faster. I stop when I see the door. My hand moves to the handle. I hear my heart beating loudly and slowly I open the door. There it is, my android. I feel my happiness overflowing then I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look behind me and see Tezuka.

"Good morning, Kanade."
"Tezuka, good morning. Thank you for taking care of it."
"N-no problem… if you want I can start it up for you then you can watch closely how it awakes."
"Do you really want to do that for me?"
"O-of course! We're friends!"
"Thank you."

I walk towards my android. He looks asleep, but he's not. Then I hear Tezuka mumble something, but I can't hear he's too far.

"What did you say?"
"Huh? N-nothing… Are you ready?"
"Of course."

I turn my head back to the android. My heart is beating like crazy. It's like it could explode at any moment.

"Alright… 1… 2… 3… START!"

His eyes start to open slowly then he sits up. I'm surprised even though I've prepared for this moment. I'm so happy that I hug him without thinking. He's warm… it feels like a real human, but I know he isn't. He's just something I have made. I take a step back.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Kanade. I'm the one who created you."
"Nice to meet you too, Kanade."

He smiles at me. I feel warm inside like I'm melting. How could an android smile this sweet.
"Kanade. I still don't have a name. Would you be so kind to give me a name?"
"S-sure… Well… your name is… Jin."
"Jin?"
"Yes."
"Alright. I got it."

Then Tezuka walks to us in a hurry.

"Well why don't you go to take a walk? Don't you want to let Jin explore this world?"
"Of course I do. Well then. Shall we go?"
"Yes."

We leave the building and walk into the shopping street. We eat and laugh together at least we go to the park. We sit together on a bank.

"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Why did you name me Jin?"
"Because I made you base on him."

I take out a picture from Jin and show it to him.

"How did you get that picture?"
"I got it from Tezuka."
"I see… and why him?"
"Because I want to be near him."

"I've always watch him from afar, but I've never had the courage to talk to him. He's very popular with the other girls. Even if I love him he'll never look at me. When we made eye contact I'll just look away from shyness."
"Why do you think he won't look at you?"
"Well… I'm just a normal girl who wears glasses and my job is making machines… a guy like him just won't look at a plain girl like me."

Why does he ask so many questions? I don't remember-

"You don't know for sure. What if he's interested in you? What if he also likes you? Aren't you just running away?"

I can't stand it anymore. I stand up and look at him.

"What do you know about him and me?! You're just an android that I've made and today is your first day going out. So what do you know?! Don't talk like you understand everything! Nothing in this world is easy! A plain girl and a popular guy won't be together in the real world! It only happens in stories!"
"Listen to me. I'm-"

I walk away angry.

"Kanade! Wait!"
"Go back to the lab and tell Tezuka I'm going home today!"
"Kanade!"

I ignore him and go back home. In my bed I'm thinking what has happened today and something seems strange. I'm too tired to think anymore and before I know I'm sleeping soundly.

Today I wake up very early so I'm also early at the lab. I walk into my room feeling a bit uncomfortable. I still can't forget what yesterday had happened. Then I see my android on the table, but he's not finished. He misses some parts.

"AAAAAAAH!"

I turn my head and see Tezuka at the door.

"What happened to my android?"
"Well… you see... the evening before you test him… I spill some coffee on it… so I'm now trying to repair it."
"Then the person at that time is…"

Then someone came into room.

"Tezuka! It's alright I'll explain everything."
"O-okay."
"Jin?"
"That evening Tezuka came to me and ask me for my help. He wanted me to pretend as an android for a couple of days. I had accepted his request and you know what happened later."
"I see that's why I felt that something wasn't right."
"I also wanted to tell you something important. Yesterday you told me that a plain girl and a popular guy won't be together, but I think you're wrong. If they love each other then they can be together even though the girl is plain and the boy is popular. To tell you the truth I've liked you for a long time, but I thought that you hated me, because every time I looked at you you would look away. So I hadn't the courage to talk to you."

I begin to cry. I always thought that it was a coincidence that our eyes met, but the truth was that we love each other.

"Why are you crying?"
"Because I'm happy."

I try to wipe away my tears then he holds me into his arms. This day couldn't be better.

10 years later.

"Why did you continue to make the android? You're together with Jin now so why? Wasn't your purpose for making the android so you'll feel like you're near him?"
"Yes, but I want to finish it because if I didn't start to make an android I wouldn't have knew Jin's feelings."
"I see."
"Ah! I've something that I want to ask you for a long time, Tezuka."
"What?"
"How did you got the picture from Jin?"
"Jin is actually my sister's boyfriend's friend."
"… so… he's the friend from your sister's boyfriend?"
"Correct."

Now I look him into his eyes seriously then I smile.

"Thank you. If you weren't here nothing of this would have happened."

He blushes deeply and turns his head.

"N-no problem. We're friends, right?"
"Of course!"
"Well then I'll leave you now. Don't stay here too late or Jin would be worried."
"Ok."

Tezuka leaves the room. Now it's just only me. I finish the last part of the android.

"Alright. It's finally done. Tomorrow I'll test it."
