Chapter 12

Chapter Twelve

Lucy tensed as she heard a howl. They were seated in the living room. She and Raice occupied the couch. Aren was leaning against the door frame and Riven was sitting in the armchair. No one was speaking despite an undercurrent of tension.

Now that her heat had been pacified for the time being, she was able to think more clearly and she was pissed. In the heat of the moment, Raice had bit her, binding them together in the most intimate way of werewolves. She had felt her wolf's presence take over and ended up biting him in return. She blushed thinking about what else transpired between them. She felt her face flush and she looked at the floor.

Raice placed his hand on her thigh and gave a gentle squeeze. She looked over at him and he smiled knowingly at her. She glared at him and he just shook his head. She was glad they were both dressed now and his body was hid from her gaze.

Grabbing his hand, she set it on the couch and scooted away from him. He chuckled and Lucy's anger spiked.

"What are we going to do about my father?" Raice asked, getting down to business. "I know for a fact that he will try to kill everyone here. No one is safe as long as I stay. I think if I leave, he'll follow me. I don't know for a fact, but it's worth a shot. The thing is, if I leave, Lucy will be coming with me."

"There is no way I'm letting my niece out of my sight, especially when she has yet to fully turn and she is now a target because of your stupidity." Riven jumped to his feet and started pacing. This situation had gotten way out of hand. All he had wanted to do was bring his niece home and help her through her transition. He had known it was a possibility she might mate with one of the men in his pack, but the last on his list would have been Raice. He had been a hardened warrior and not the kind to settle down. He thought Lucy would have picked Trent or Braiden, maybe even Drew.

"My stupidity? Claiming my mate is now stupid? No one was going to keep me away from what was mine," Raice growled, his eyes turning black and then red. Lucy jumped to her feet.

"I am not yours. You claimed me without my consent. I was under the influence of my heat and you had no right. I am not your mate." She turned to face Riven. "As for you, just because you're my uncle doesn't give you the right to tell me what to do. I am a person and capable of thinking for myself. Do not test me right now."

"Lucy, you cannot leave unless you go with either me, or your uncle. So don't even think about it." Aren's arms fell to his sides and he sniffed the air. "We're about to have company."

"Is it my father?" Raice jumped up and pushed Lucy behind him. She fell back down on the couch and glared at his back.

"How dare you!" she snarled. She was about to get to her feet when there was a thump against the front door. A wolf howled and then the door caved in. It landed on the floor with a loud bang and then a wolf was hurtling itself through the air right at Raice.

Lucy screamed. She pulled her knees up to her chest and stared at the scene unfolding before her. She shook away her fear and looked around for a weapon. Raice grabbed the wolf and rolled away from his mate. The wolf clawed at his skin. Raice growled and was about to shift when the wolf jumped away with a yelp. He looked up to find Lucy holding a golf club. Where she had gotten it, Raice didn't know, but he was proud of her.

The wolf growled and stalked Lucy. Her eyes widened and she took a step backwards. The wolf leapt into the air, but was intercepted by Aren as he tried to protect Lucy.

Braiden, Logan, and Michael all came stumbling into the house, taking in the scene. Logan acted first, changing and charging his brother. Riven glanced at the twins and demanded to know what was going on and what had gotten into Trent.

"Michael told us about Raice mating with Lucy. He went crazy. We tried to stop him from getting here, but he beat us." Braiden ran his hands down his arms and shook his head in shame. They should have been faster. Trent was in a rage and could hurt someone.

"Everyone stop," Riven commanded, his voice portraying some of his alpha power. Everyone but Aren froze. He wasn't affected because he was an alpha himself.

"Trent shift back."

Not given a choice, Trent shifted back into his human form. Michael ran to get him a pair of pants. No one spoke until Trent was standing half-dressed and looking pissed off.

"How could you let this happen?" Trent demanded of Riven. "You sent us away so it wouldn't happen, and then you let him mate with one of our wolves. He isn't one of us."

"What are you talking about Trent? Raice is a part of our pack." Michael threw in. He looked confused, just like everyone else did.

"He may think he is a part of this pack, but he isn't. He isn't even a wolf." Trent smirked, knowing he had given up Raice's secret.

Lucy placed her hand on Raice's back. He was standing protectively in front of her, his body blocking her from view. She knew this meant trouble.

"What is he talking about Raice? You're a wolf… right?" Braiden asked, suspiciously.

"I had hoped this wouldn't happen, but I guess it has. Everyone sit down." Aren remained standing, his gaze sweeping over everyone's faces. He was taking in the scene and watching from the sidelines. Riven didn't like it, but he didn't want to ask him to leave just yet. He needed answers.

"Someone needs to explain what the hell is going on," Logan said, speaking up for the first time. He looked confused and was pissed because of it. He liked to know all the facts.

"Well, as Trent has already told you, Raice is not a wolf. He is a member of our pack, and should remain treated as one of us. He is actually a panther." Riven watched expressions cross over each member's face. He didn't know how they would take it. "Raice and I met yesterday to discuss everything. He explained his history and I have agreed to let him remain in the pack with us."

"When did you find out he was a panther?" Trent asked, knowing Riven wasn't telling everything.

"I've known from the very beginning. He has lived amongst us so long, he had come to smell like us. He is definitely a panther though." Riven had to be truthful.

"Show us," Michael demanded. He couldn't believe it. There was no way a panther had lived with them for so long and they hadn't known. That was a slam to their ego.

Looking to Riven for permission, Raice pushed Lucy back. She sat on the couch, glaring at Trent. Things were going to get rough for Raice. Part of her wondered what would happen if he was kicked out of the pack. Would she go with him? Where would they go? Would her uncle let her leave? There were a lot of things riding on whether the pack accepted him again.

Raice took a deep breath and then shifted into his panther form. He placed his body in front of Lucy, afraid for her if the pack decided to attack. He could see Candy peaking around the corner, her eyes widening in shock. Braiden looked like he was in shock, and Michael looked pissed at himself. Logan was the only one that looked calm. Aren showed no emotion.

He felt someone touch him and turned to find Lucy stroking his fur affectionately. He started purring and she smiled at him. Trent growled and Lucy jerked her hand away. Raice swung his gaze toward the wolf and snarled. Trent growled back and took a step forward.

"Enough. There has been enough fighting today. We need to get everything worked out. I have a lot to do and I don't need this right now. Trent, get your ass back to your house until I call for you. Michael, Logan, make sure he stays there. Braiden, I want you to hang around. I may need you." When no one moved, Riven growled, "Now."

Everyone jumped at his command and scattered. Logan took one arm, Michael the other, dragging their brother out of the house. Riven looked at the door and shook his head. This day could not get any worse.

Trent jerked from his brothers' grasp as soon as they were outside. "I'm going for a run, don't follow me."

Shifting, Trent took off running toward the woods. He needed to clear his mind. He had succeeded in making everyone hate Raice. Everyone knew except Jaiden and Drew, and maybe a few others, but all the important people knew. He growled low in his throat when he pictured Lucy.

She reached out and touched Raice. She had fucking pet a cat. His wolf snarled. He had thought for sure that Lucy would be his mate. Now the only way to get rid of the bond with Raice was to kill him. If he wanted to be Lucy's mate, and give her someone who she deserved, he would kill Raice. He couldn't wait to taste his blood as he sunk his teeth into Raice's neck. He would watch the life drain away from him and it would make him feel powerful.

Trent stopped running and realized he was right on the edge of their territory. He looked around to make sure no one had seen him almost cross it. When he was sure no one was around, he started trotting down the edge of the territory. He might as well patrol while he was out. A disturbance in the pack was the perfect opportunity for a rival pack to attack.

He continued walking for another few minutes before he caught another wolf's scent. He knew instantly it was Bruno's. He picked up speed. The smell of a fresh kill alerted him that Bruno passed over into their territory. He slowed his pace and crept forward slowly.

Just ahead Bruno was digging into a rabbit's stomach. His face was already covered in blood. He was openly standing on their side and didn't seem to care. He broke the law and would have to be punished. Trent circled around quietly until he was behind him.

Waiting for the opportune moment was what Trent was trained to do. He waited until Bruno had his mouth full before darting forward and throwing himself on Bruno's back. He dug his claws in and his teeth clamped down on the back of his throat.

He could taste Bruno's blood on his tongue and his wolf took over. He was too far gone to hold back. He was still pissed about Raice and Lucy and this was the perfect person to take his anger out on. Bruno never saw it coming.

Trent could hear Bruno choking on the rabbit and smell the terror coming off of him in waves. He shook his head side to side, his teeth going deeper each time. He knew he was killing him, yet he couldn't seem to stop. He was lost.

After some time, Bruno grew limp beneath him and Trent heard his heart stop. Only then did he realize what he had done. He jumped off of Bruno and let the body fall limp to the ground. Bruno was staring straight ahead, his eyes glazing over. Blood coated his mouth and a small pool started to form beneath him.

Trent shifted back and ran his fingers through his hair.

"What the fuck have I done?" he asked himself, looking around to make sure no one else was near. He sniffed the air, but all he could smell was death.

Riven turned his attention back to Lucy. "You've got to be starving. Raice, take Lucy into the kitchen and fix something for her. I need to talk to Aren. Braiden you go too."

Raice shifted back and took Lucy's hand. He led her to the kitchen and sat her down. He raced away to get a shirt and Lucy had a few moments alone with Braiden.

"Why'd you do it?" he asked, his heart in his eyes. He was devastated.

"I'm sorry Braiden. I was influenced by my heat. I knew what was going on, but I wasn't in control. My wolf made itself known and took over. I couldn't stop it. As soon as he sunk his teeth into my neck I was no longer in control. I know we had a thing, but I've always cared more for Raice. I don't want to hurt you, and I know I am, but you will find someone else."

"I don't want anyone else, I wanted you. Even after you mated with a fucking cat, I still want you. That's pathetic. How could we not have known?" Braiden hit the table with his fist, causing Lucy to jump.

"He couldn't have you find out. That's the only thing I can come up with. His father is looking for him and he had to hide. You have to look at things from his side. Don't judge him just because he's different. I'm sure he's had your back plenty of times. He's a protector, a fighter, and a lover." Lucy looked up as Raice walked into the room.

He took the seat next to Lucy and she unconsciously shifted toward him. Braiden saw it and shook his head.

"I'll try Lucy, but it's going to be hard. Know I'm only doing it for your sake. I don't trust him," Braiden kept talking, almost as if Raice never entered the room. "He shouldn't have lied to us."

"I had to, you dumb fuck. Do you think I wanted to keep it from you? Riven thought it was best. He didn't know how you would take it. He was thinking about throwing me out until I told him about my past. You have no idea what I've been through, so don't you dare act like you know me," Raice replied angrily. He clenched his fists in his lap to keep from knocking some sense into Braiden.

"What are you running from? Are you a murderer?" Braiden asked loudly. "Why did you have to bring it to our doorstep? Don't you realize you've put Lucy in danger by mating with her?"

"Lucy is mine," Raice snarled, his eyes burning brighter. Braiden growled and stood up quickly. His chair fell backwards, causing the sound to echo in the kitchen when it hit the floor.

"Stop!" Lucy turned to look at each of them. "This is nonsense. You two were friends, pack mates before I came along. This is my fault." Feeling tears in her eyes, Lucy looked at the ground. She didn't want them to see her lose it. She had been through a lot and didn't even feel like herself anymore.

"Lucy, this is not your fault. You can't take the blame for this." Braiden took her hand in his and kissed the back of it. He ignored Raice when he growled. "I'm sorry. I'll try to get along, but I won't lose my feelings for you. You should have been mine."

Raice grabbed Lucy and jerked her away from Braiden. Lucy gasped as she was picked up. Raice stomped out of the kitchen and headed straight toward Lucy's bedroom. She looked back at Braiden worriedly and he followed after them.

Kicking open Lucy's door, Raice set her on the bed before closing her window and shutting her door. He quickly locked it and turned to face her. Braiden beat on the door and demanded that Raice unlock it.

"Go away Braiden. This doesn't concern you," Raice snarled. His hands were clenched into fists and he was breathing heavily. Lucy climbed slowly to her feet and crept toward him slowly. She placed her hands on his chest and his head jerked up. He stared into her eyes.

"Braiden, could you give us a minute?" Lucy asked. She kept the fear hidden from both of them, though she was sure Raice could smell it.

"Are you all right?" Braiden asked carefully.

"I'll be fine. He won't hurt me. Just give us a second."

Lucy heard Braiden as he stormed off back down the hall. He was probably going to get Riven. Part of her hoped that was true, but part of her needed to be alone with Raice.

"You are mine." Raice wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. She looked up at him and knew that he wasn't in control. His panther had taken the reins. "He won't touch you again."

"What are you talking about? You mean when he kissed me hand?" Lucy asked quietly. Raice growled and shook his head.

"He gave you pleasure. His mouth was on you," Raice answered, feeling her body tense.

"You mean that night in the woods?" Lucy asked, her tone growing angry.

"Yes."

"That is none of your concern. I was not your mate then, nor am I now." Lucy jerked out of his grasp and tried to step around him toward the door. "You shouldn't have brought that up."

"I'm not done talking to you." Raice grabbed her arm and spun her around. His mouth pressed against hers and his tongue darted in between her open lips. She felt her body melt in his embrace. She kissed him back and her hands slid to his stomach. She pushed his shirt up until it bunched under his arms. He raised his arms, and the shirt was thrown into the corner. He grabbed her shirt and ripped it away from her.

Lucy gasped as the air hit her bare breasts. Her nipples hardened under Raice's heated gaze. He growled and picked her up. Turning, he tossed her gently on the bed.

Climbing up the bed, Raice was soon hovering over her. Lucy felt her heat come back full force. She needed him his cock filling her as he thrust deep within her pussy.

"Raice…" she moaned. He grabbed her hips and lowered his body down. His eyes locked on hers. She felt his fingers slip under the waist band of the sweats she was wearing. He pulled them down until they bunched at her ankles. She kicked them off and lay completely nude under him. He leaned back and took her in.

She resisted the urge to cover herself and let him have his fill. Her breaths grew quicker and she felt herself grow wetter. He was looking at her like he wanted to devour her.

"I'm going to make you forget him." Raice looked down at her pussy, his meaning clear.

Lucy moaned in response. She felt him spread her legs and her eyes clamped shut. She dug her fingers in the sheets and almost came unglued when he swept his tongue up her slit. She cried out and was rewarded with his lips clamping down on her clit. Her hips shot off the bed and she screamed with her orgasm. Raice placed one of his hands on her hip and held her down as he feasted on her.

His tongue delved deep into her channel and his free hand rubbed circles against her clit. He licked her up and down and soon she felt like she was going to scream if he didn't give her release again. When his mouth left her she whimpered and looked down at him.

He smiled up at her and then stuck a finger deep within her. He moved it in and out and soon another digit joined the first. She moaned as he rubbed his thumb over her clit and once again she fell again and again. She trembled with the force of this orgasm. She felt his breath on her and then he was lapping at her juices. She felt him start purring and the sensation alone about sent her into her third orgasm. She had to put a muzzle on this guy if she wanted to continue living. He was going to kill her with the force of her orgasms.

Grabbing his head, she pulled him up to capture his lips with hers. She wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled him down on top of her. Raice, not wanting to crush her with his weight, held himself up with his arms. She could taste herself on his mouth and it was erotic. She ground her hips against his, needing him inside of her.

"Tell me your mine," He demanded, his tip stopping just inside her entrance. She tried to thrust against him, forcing him deeper, but he pulled back. She whimpered. "Tell me."

Lucy needed relief and she would do anything to get it. Even lie. "I'm yours."
