Chapter 33. Dilema.
“Can’t do what?” He questions and I stare at him.
“Can’t do what summer?” He asks desperately.
“Ethan, I don’t want to live here anymore, I think it’s time I move again. ”
“But why summer? It’s not like this would happen again, I’ll always be here to protect you.”
I shake my head as he Answers and he holds my hand.
“Where will you go? And you said you would give me a chance, what about us?” He explains again.
I look around silently contemplating what to do.
Stay here and risk getting hurt or give Ethan a chance...
“I don’t know, but I have done it before, so I’ll just do it again,” I answer as I begin tearing up. I don’t like that I have to hurt him and j did say I would give him a chance... But that was before all this.
“So you didn’t want to give us a chance?”
“I did Ethan, but that was before all this happened,” I say frustrated.
“Okay, okay, so let’s pretend all that didn’t happen,” he starts, I open my mouth to cut him off.
“No no just listen,” he says and I nod my head for him to continue.
“So let’s pretend all that didn’t happen...” he says and stares into to my eyes.
“Imagine us being together going out, getting to know each other more, and maybe just maybe you’d start liking me?” He says hopefully.
I sigh, “Ethan, just let me be for now okay? I need to think.”
Ethan sighs and answers,” okay fine, I’ll give you time, but just in case, if you are planning to move, it would take say 1 or 2 months? Right?”
“So how about those two months we can get to know each other more? How about that? It’s a win-win, and I can always visit you wherever you go, wherever you go I’ll find you.” He says.
“Hmm you’re right, I think that’s what will do, two months.”
“Two months,” he nods happily in confirmation.
“I’ll leave you to rest now,” he says.
“Okay, you should go home too, you look drained,” I say.
“Okay see you then,” he says and walks out the door.
I sigh and stare at the white ceiling, 2 months, I guess I can deal with that.
You know that feeling when you’re sleeping and you feel like someone’s looking at you?
I open my eyes slowly and pair of widely open eyes stare right into my yes. I gasp. My heart rate increases for a few seconds and slowly gets back to normal as a glare at Norah.
“What is wrong with you?”
“What I do?” she says innocently and slowly backs away.
“Seriously?” I groan.
“Hey, I came to see you and you were asleep, so I was just watching over you.”
“Literally. You scared me with those big eyes. Don’t do shit like that. Its creepy.” I mumble in the end
“Are you okay?” she asks genuinely worried.
“I’m okay, who told you I was here?”
“Who else knows the two of us” she says as she rolls her eyes.
“I was in the middle of a date, I ditched my boyfriend to be here with you,” she says.
“Wow, what a good friend you are,” I say sarcastically and look at her. She looks like she wants to say something but is holding back.
“Spit it out already,” I demand and she looks at me like how did you know?
“You face says it all Norah, we have known each other for a while now, give me some credit.”
“Well I didn’t exactly ditch Hayden...” she says sheepishly.
“Okay…?” then what did she do?
“I may have dragged him along.” She finally finishes.
“Oh...” I say and she nods.
“And he just came along?” I question.
“Of course he’s a good boy.”
I laugh lightly.
“He’s not a puppy Norah.”
She gasps and answers, “I never said he was!”
“Okay okay. Let’s meet this boyfriend of yours since you dragged him here.”
“Okay!” she says and rushes towards the door.
A minute later the door is opened hastily again and Norah comes dragging a man behind her. Literally!
“Summer meet Hayden. Hayden meet my best friend summer,” she says excitedly.
I stare at Hayden wide-eyed. He’s the same guy I met at the mall, and the same man that I accused, for trying to steal the dogs. He stares back at me and his eyes widen realisation as he remembers me
“You’re...” We both say at the same time.
“What?” Norah asks confused.
“Well...” I start. “I’ve actually met him like two times.”
“Yeah I bumped into her the day I met you,” he says looking at Norah.
“Ooh that’s great! So it won’t be awkward!” she cheers.
“yeah.” I mumble.
“Norah, do you mind getting me some water? Mines finished.” I request.
“Sure, I’ll be right back.”
As she leaves I look at Hayden,
“I hope you’re not messing with my best friend Hayden.” I say threateningly
“I am not,” he answers looking slightly intimidated.
“hey, before you start lecturing, let me just say, I’m sorry for flirting with you that day, I was just messing around, I promise I’m serious about Norah.” He explains and I sigh in relief.
“Don’t hurt her, she’s been through a few things that I don’t want to mention, so she likes to do things and say things that make her happy, so just let her be alright?”
“I’m not telling, she’ll tell you when she feels like it.”
“So if you don’t mind me asking, what happened to you?” he inquires.
“Still nosy aren’t you?”
“Um sorry, okay uh get well soon?” he says unsurely.
“Here’s your water Summer, “Norah announces as she enters.
“Okay we’re leaving now, I guess you need to rest a bit, you look beat,” Norah says while looking at me and I glare at her.
She grabs Hayden’s hand and rushes out.
I sigh and lean back. What a day.
