4. The Stock's Architects

I couldn’t really sleep that night. I tossed and turned on my double, cheep bed, but I just couldn’t get him out of my head. I don’t exactly know why.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Lazily, I slammed shut the alarm clock and decided to sleep for another few minutes. What? Well it’s not my fault that my mind was thinking about it someone!

After what seemed like only 5 minutes I turned the clock, which caused my eyes to widen. It was already 8:45 and I was still in bed.

After having a quick shower I hurriedly slipped on my clothes and cream hills that I absolutely adore and applied some make-up; foundation, mascara and nude lipstick.

Around 9:15 I entered the café that was filled with customers already. When I entered the back room, glad that I avoided Sophie today I placed my things down, but I bumped into someone, and that someone was non other than Sophie herself.

“Erm.. hey Sof” I said along with a sheepish smile, and earning a glare from her while folding her arms in front of her chest. “Look I’m sorry Sof. I’ll make sure that it won’t happen again” I said after sighing.

She signed and said, “look Lilly I really think if you as a true friend but as a boss I can’t keep this up anymore. I have a many chances and other employees won’t be trusting me anymore if... if I allow you to work for any longer. I’m sorry Sof...” she said looking down.

Immediately panic started to take over my body. “No no Sof please. You know how much I need the job. Please please please!”

“Lilly I know.. but I’m sorry. Please try and understand from my perspective. I really don’t have any other option.” She said with a depressed face. I could tell that she was genuinely really upset about it. “But I can help you to get a job if you want..?”

“It’s ok. I understand.” I have her a reassuring smile whilst receiving a weak smile from her. I was turning my heal to leave when I remembered something.“By the way, when are you gonna come to my place to stay”

She looked at me with a surprised expression;“you still want me to stay with you at your place?”

“Yeah.. why?”

“No I mean.. I thought you wouldn’t want to after what I just did” she said looking down to her fiddling fingers.

“Oh Sof..” I quickly engulfed her into a tight hug. “You didn’t do anything wrong that you should feel guilty about. Just because we are best friends it doesn’t mean that you should treat me any different from any other employees. So relax, and I don’t care you have to come and stay. I won’t take a no for an answer.” I said giving her a friendly smile.

After stepping out of the café I went straight home as I no longer have a job. Perhaps, I could go online and search for a new job.

Changing into comfortable home clothes i put my hair into a messy bun. I turned on tv and took out a ice cream tub and relaxed on the couch putting my aching feet up.

After 15 mins my phone buzzed and I noticed that Sophie had text me.

Sof: “hey gurrl”

Me: “hey! What up? When are you coming?”

Sof: ”Is it ok with you if I come now so that I can get my stuff with me as well. I’m going to leave early”

Me: ”Yeah sure. You don’t have to ask.

Sof: “thanks b!tch”

Me: ”No prob b!tch! :-)”

After texting the address to her I relaxed again. After around 25 mins there was a knock on the door and I opened the door to see Sophie standing there with her things with a smile on her face , which I obviously returned with a smile, and after placing her things in a spare bedroom she returns and joins me.

After a while she gets up and sits back down with my laptop. I give her a confused look which she totally ignored. Have I ever mentioned how rude she can be? I didn’t?.. oh well you know now.

“Omg Lilly look what I have found?!” She squealed making me jump a bit.

“What is it?” I ask while getting the laptop to get a closer look.

“The Stock’s architects are looking for a PA! You should totally go for it!”

“I don’t know Sof... I mean I don’t think that I have the experience to do that.” I state trying to reason my refusal.

“Please please Lilly give it a go otherwise it will make me feel even more guilty than before” she says with a sad look on her face.

“Are you emotionally blackmailing me?” I state attempting to lighten the atmosphere a bit.

“Totally. So you better give a shot.”

I take few seconds to think about it. I mean I should just give it a shot, even though most likely I won’t be getting the job especially in the most well known company but I should still give it a go. With that thought in my mind I hurriedly fill in the application form online and press the send button. Sophia on the other hand had a huge smile plastered on her face and soon invited me for a breath taking hug.

Soon I said ‘goodnight’ to Sophia and headed to bed, wondering what might happen if I do get a chance for a interview, and if I’m lucky enough and get the job itself.
