Chapter 37: Shots Fired

NOAH’S POV

2 days.

Its been 2 fucking days and there was no sign of her.

We tracked the licence plate as far as we could but then he got rid of the car.

He still had his cell phone on him so we had that going for us but it was pinging off 3 different cell towers!

There were too many places to search so Jamieson was holed up trying to pinpoint a specific search area.

I had kept the important thing I’d bought in my pocket, hoping it would bring us some luck and hope.

My head was fucking with me. It kept conjuring up the worst case scenario.

It killed me not knowing what was happening to her.

BLAKE’S POV

Alex had kept me locked in here for 2 days. The ropes were digging into me and I hadn’t eaten. So obviously right now, I’m a cranky bitch.

“Why? Why did you take me?” I asked Alex as he re-entered the room.

“2 reasons. Number one, I knew it would piss your boyfriend off. And two, I was ordered to. I prefer the first reason though.” Alex chuckled darkly.

“Who ordered you to?”

“I could tell you but instead, I’ll let him introduce himself.”

The door opened again.

“Hello, Blake.”

“No!”

I started thrashing around in the seat, trying to get out.

“Alex, can I have a moment with my daughter?”

Alex walked out, shutting the door.

“It’s been a long time, Blake.” he leaned down to my level.

“Go to hell!” I grit out.

“Oh sweetheart, I’ve already been. Thanks to you.”

“You deserved it you sick bastard! It wasn’t enough for you to hurt mom was it? You had to kill her to be completely satisfied?”

“Just tying up loose ends. Tell me, how’s Tristan?”

“I’m not going to talk about him with you. You will NEVER get to him. Over my dead body!”

“That can be arranged.” He backhanded me in the face, rendering me unconscious again.

When I next woke, I was on the floor, my hands untied.

I ran to the door and tried to open it.

Locked.

I started pounding on it, screaming for them to let me out.

The bolt unlatched and I pushed the door. I tried to run but Alex caught me and threw me back down.

The concrete was hard on my back and the force knocked the wind out of me.

Coughing, I tried to get up.

Owen walked in and sent Alex away again.

He kicked me in the stomach which made me see stars.

He then put his hand behind his back and pulled out a gun, aiming at me.

“I told you it could be arranged.”

NOAH’S POV

I’d spent the past few days trying to assure Tristan that I’d find his sister.

I managed to persuade him to go to school today because he’d already missed so much.

“I’ve got something.” Jamieson burst in to my office.

His hair was all over the place from gripping it in frustration. Much like mine.

“What is it?”

“There’s a warehouse between those 3 cell towers that’s been abandoned for a few years. I’m pretty sure that’s where they are.”

Getting up, I grabbed the gun from my office safe.

I’d never shot the thing but I would to save Blake.

“Call the police. Tell them to meet us there.”

The police were on their way.

When we got there, we snuck into the warehouse.

Alex was stood outside a door.

Before he could try anything, Jamieson knocked him out.

Bursting through the door, the scene was unexpected.

Blake was stood over Owen, holding a gun while he held his bloody nose.

“Don’t move. You know, this is exactly how it should be. I could shoot you right now and it would be justice for mom. What do you think?” she said, tilting her head and aiming the gun at his head.

I couldn’t let her do this. She would never forgive herself.

“Blake, don’t. It won’t make it any better. Trust me. The police are here. They’ll take him. You don’t want this on your conscience.” I spoke, slowly stepping towards her.

I put my hand on her arm slowly and took the gun out of her hand.

BLAKE’S POV

As Noah hugged me and we started to leave, a shot was fired.

There were shouts and Noah looked terrified.

I looked around to see who had been shot, thinking Owen had killed himself.

But everyone was fine.

Looking at Noah again, he held me as I dropped to the floor.
