Chapter 39: The Question

Something jolted me awake.

There it was again.

Her hand that I was holding, twitched.

She opened her eyes slowly and closed them again from the bright lights.

When she opened them again, she looked around before her hazel eyes landed on me.

Her eyes filled with tears and I jumped up, hugging her.

“It’s okay. You’re safe now.” I whispered in her ear.

She held me tight as if she would never let go. And I was more than happy with that.

When she did pull away, I held her face and kissed her.

Her lips moved in sync with mine and it felt like the first time all over again.

“I’ll go get the doctor.” I pecked her on the lips before leaving.

While getting the doctor, I called everyone to let them know she was awake.

Kira and Brett would be here in 2 hours and Jamieson was bringing Tristan straight away.

When he arrived he ran to his sister, crying.

She held him while he calmed down.

“I thought I lost you!” he cried.

“I know, but it looks like you’re stuck with me, kiddo!” she smiled down at him.

He laughed at that.

He sat with her for a little while, so that I could go and sort the medical bills.

She would have probably smacked me if she knew what I was doing, claiming ′I’m an independent woman, I can take care of it.′ She had done it before and trust me that shit hurts!

Chuckling at my thoughts, I walked back to the room.

Kira and Brett were now in there with her, laughing about something.

As soon as I walked in, they hushed.

“What are you guys talking about?”

None of them answered but had guilty faces.

I knew exactly who would give me answers.

Raising my eyebrows I asked, “Brett?”

He looked so conflicted but he still burst out, “we were talking about our sexcapades.”

I wasn’t expecting that!

Walking over to my girl, I sat next to her.

“Did you tell them about the one in the plane’s bathroom?” I winked at her.

“What?! You didn’t tell us about that one! Spill, Blake.” Kira started.

“Sorry guys, but I need her all to myself now. She’ll tell you another time.” I smirked at them.

“Fine. Take care of our girl Mr. Hotshot.” Scary Kira was back!

“Will do, ma’am.”

They left the room.

We cuddled up on the bed for a little while.

“That was the scariest few days of my life. I almost thought I wasn’t going to be able to find you.” I whispered into her ear.

“But you did.” she smiled at me.

“By the way, how did you get the first gun?”

“He bent down to grab my hair and I headbutted him. He dropped it.”

My jaw dropped open.

“My girl is a bad ass!”

I ran my fingers along her back as she lay on my chest. It was so comfy.

We lay like that for a while, our breathing in sync. Just relishing in each others presence.

I knew it was time to do this.

I couldn’t leave it to chance anymore.

I shifted from beneath her and stood up so she could see me.

“I had planned on doing this in some fancy way but I can’t wait any longer. The thought that I could have lost you kills me. I love you so damn much.”

I pulled the item out of my pocket.

“Marry me.”
